MDAC_TYP.EXE is supported since yesterday or so but it's installed via SVCPACK so the update will probably not take. I'll check it out.

New final is coming up. I just need to do one more test. The fix for the "DX3 problem" on Windows 2003 will not be included in the final since noone seems to give a F. I can't test this myself because everything's fine on my end.

Thanks for the tip, the_guy. You are right. I installed the WU Catalog version by hand and then Windows Update stopped complaining. I removed the "trial fix" for KB904942-v2 introduced in HFSLIP_60415a. For the folks that are interested in having the WMP9/10 classic skin... It appears that the latest fix introduced about two days ago does the trick. Happy skinless experience...

You can try 60415b for the KB904942-v2 problems. I'll start doing extensive tests in a while myself.

If I remember correctly, your Windows Update problem isn't new. I don't know what "Microsoft Windows Publisher" is...

Did you redownload KB911565? It was updated according to the_guy. WMP.DLL is at version 10.0.0.4019 now.

KB904942 is an update for Outlook Express 6 but it's only needed when/if you install IE7. Outlook Express 6 uses "a certain way" to access HTTP-based e-mail servers (such as Hotmail) which no longer works (or is no longer accepted) when you install Internet Explorer 7. KB904942 updates the way OE6 accesses HTTP-based e-mail servers in a way that's compatible with both IE6 and IE7. So the hotfix is not needed if you decide to not install IE7, but installing it anyway doesn't harm your system either.

Does the problem with KB911565 also occur if you don't include the latest updates? I normally test this thoroughly myself with every SP level but I can't do it before the weekend.

Is there a file called kb911565.cat in SOURCESS\I386\SVCPACK? What's the version of WMP.DLL in SOURCESS\I386\wmp.dl_? Is it 10.0.0.3990? Is anyone else having this problem with KB911565?

I'll check it out. I wouldn't know what caused this, though. Nothing was changed there. HFSLIP_60412d.7z is online now. Forgot to upload it...

@Super-Magician... It's gonna take another day or two. I'm drowning in work and barely have the time to update HFSLIP for the new hotfixes...

Judging by the dates and the number of files, the bigger package is the one you need. The build number (8825) is the newest. Rename it to scriptfr.exe and place it in HF.

dziubek... 60412c should fix that.

That's the JScript update. You need scriptfr.exe from this page which updates several components (including JScript). MSXML6: I don't think it actually matters. HFSLIP only installs "the viewer" which doesn't even have an interface.

@EmRoD: KB912812 should be OK now. I undid the fix for KB912945. I don't know about KB911565 and KB904942. Nothing was changed in this regard.

As far as I can see, the program files for .NET 2.0 are being installed with Zxian's installer, but I don't have/know about any applications that require .NET 2.0 so I can't verify if the whole program is being installed properly. I'm not into gaming....

Of course. But it might take a while. It looks like the WMP Classic skin still doesn't copy over properly and I want to tackle this before a new final is released.

@dziubek... Whoops... I created a variable called BBIN but I was referring to it as BBBIN later on... HFSVPK and HFSVPK_SW are now called HFSVCPACK and HFSVCPACK_SW respectively. Should HFSPACK be renamed too? How does HFSLIP.LOG sound instead of ERROR_REPORT.TXT?

I'm talking about the inf. HFSLIP would make Windows setup install that inf so if it contains language-specific stuff it might not take on every system.

I downloaded it but the update inf says "1033".

HFSLIP doesn't support this hotfix at present but it can be made to work. The lines for LegitCheckControl.cab won't be removed unless the file you're linking to is multilingual.

Outlook Express 6 is part of the IE6 package...
