  1. No go. It worked great before adding those Intel drivers.
  2. Have a new issue, posting in the Unattended Forum. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=30364
  3. Hi guys. If this is the wrong forum, my apologies as it looks like the best candidate! My other thread for today is solved, hopefully this one can be succesfully answered in quick fashion as well. After loading the necessary files to begin installation, the part where the disk is automatically partitioned and formatted is borked up somehow. It tells me "Setup cannot format this partition. The disk may be damaged." The disk is fine. It had an installation of 2kSP3 humming away on it for 6 months before I put it in this machine. The autopartition and formatting works great if I install directly from a cd. Here is my answer file: [data] floppyless = "1" msdosinitiated = "1" OriSrc = "\\%SERVERNAME%\RemInst\%INSTALLPATH%\%MACHINETYPE%" OriTyp = "4" LocalSourceOnCD = 1 UnattendedInstall=Yes AutoPartition = 1 [SetupData] OsLoadOptions = "/noguiboot /fastdetect" SetupSourceDevice = "\Device\LanmanRedirector\%SERVERNAME%\RemInst\%INSTALLPATH%" [Unattended] DriverSigningPolicy = Ignore OemPreinstall = yes NoWaitAfterTextMode = 0 FileSystem = ConvertNTFS Repartition=Yes ExtendOEMPartition = 1 ConfirmHardware = no NtUpgrade = no Win31Upgrade = no TargetPath = \WINNT OverwriteOemFilesOnUpgrade = no OemSkipEula = yes OEMSkipWelcome=1 UnattendMode=DefaultHide InstallFilesPath = "\\%SERVERNAME%\RemInst\%INSTALLPATH%\%MACHINETYPE%" OEMPnPDriversPath="drivers\acer320;drivers\acer325;drivers\agpvideo; drivers\agpvideo\new;drivers\agpvideo\pa50;drivers\agpvideo\video; drivers\ich5865;drivers\ich4845;drivers\ich4m845;drivers\ich5m845; drivers\ich3s815;drivers\ich3m815;drivers\in845vga;drivers\in865vga; drivers\nic;drivers\nm9805;drivers\pro100ve;drivers\pro1000; drivers\rage128p;drivers\rage128p\atidrive;drivers\s353005;drivers\sis; drivers\sis651;drivers\smc1255;drivers\smc1255t;drivers\tri9750;drivers\sis961" [UserData] FullName = "Administrator" OrgName = "********************" ComputerName = %MACHINENAME% [GuiUnattended] OemSkipWelcome = 1 OemSkipRegional = 1 AutoLogon = No AutoLogonAccountCreation = No TimeZone = 40 AdminPassword = ******************** [LicenseFilePrintData] AutoMode = PerSeat [Display] ConfigureAtLogon = 0 BitsPerPel = 8 XResolution = 800 YResolution = 600 VRefresh = 60 AutoConfirm = 1 [Components] accessopt = Off cdplayer = Off chat = Off deskpaper = Off dialer = Off freecell = Off hypertrm = Off media_clips = Off media_utopia = Off minesweeper = Off mplay = Off objectpkg = Off OEAccess = Off pinball = Off rec = Off solitaire = Off TSClients = Off WMPOCM = Off [Networking] ProcessPageSections=Yes InstallDefaultComponents = Yes [Identification] JoinDomain = %MACHINEDOMAIN% CreateComputerAccountInDomain = Yes DoOldStyleDomainJoin = Yes [NetProtocols] MS_TCPIP=params.MS_TCPIP [params.MS_TCPIP] ; transport: TC (TCP/IP Protocol) InfID=MS_TCPIP DHCP=Yes [NetClients] MS_MSClient=params.MS_MSClient [params.MS_MSClient] InfID=MS_MSClient [NetServices] MS_Server=params.MS_Server [params.MS_Server] ; service: SRV (Server) InfID=MS_Server BroadcastsToLanman2Clients = No [ServicesSection] [RemoteInstall] Repartition = No [OSChooser] Description ="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional - October 2004" Help ="Automatically installs Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional without prompting the user for input." LaunchFile = "%INSTALLPATH%\%MACHINETYPE%\templates\startrom.com" ImageType =Flat Version="5.0 (0)" I removed "UseWholeDisk=Yes" and changed "Repartition=Yes" (to make it revert to the answers within the "[unattend]" heading) under the "[RemoteInstall]" heading. I also added "Autopartition" under the "[Data]" heading...to see if that was the issue. So it doesn't format. Thanks for reading. Help me out! Whoops! oempnpdrivers made the code box about four screens wide. Edited!
  4. The margin for error has to be greater than the 0.5% difference in performance they tallied up...so I'd call their theory bunk. As for myself...SP2 doesn't hurt at all. If you negate the new "features" existence by disabling services and the like...then there's no loss.
  5. Do you have the playstation version? If not, it would be in your best interest to obtain it and use a PSX emulator to get your Cloud on. The PC version of FFVII is "okay," at best. You need to see it in 1024x768x32 4xAA. www.epsxe.com Check it out...I'm sure there's more than a few of us that have done this type of thing before. Happy hunting.
  6. I ran across a thread here in the XPCreate forum that mentioned something along the lines of using a RIS specific .inf file but I didn't want to hop into my images and start gallavanting around pretending I knew what was going on. It works like a champ, I appreciate your very helpful post.
  7. This may be the wrong forum...I'm not 100% sure where this would go. Having some trouble getting the onboard Intel Pro 1000 connection on this Intel D865GBF P4 board working with RIS. It fails on text-mode setup where it actually needs the device driver to successfully copy files locally and begin installation. I've Googled a bit and discovered that you should be able to drop a few files into the i386 directory of whatever image you want, and it should recognize the NIC, continuing on with the installation. I could drop a Realtek 8139 based NIC into the system but that would defeat the entire purpose. Please advise!
  8. I think these files come from Jdeboeck's Windows XP in 185 MB link: http://jdeboeck.msfnhosting.com And that it is. I knew it looked familiar because it the menu doesn't work correctly in Firefox.
  9. I came across some batch files a few months ago to trim the base install stuff down. Way down. Just drop the individual .cmd files in your base XPCD directory and execute them. I trimmed just the Windows stuff down to around 300MB. You can check out what they do by opening them up in Notepad. I can't remember where I downloaded them from for the life of me though, so... REMOVE_1.zip
  10. Hello. Found this page about a month ago while looking for insctructions on how to properly slipstream post-SP3 hotfixes on a Windows 2000 installation. I'm from Indiana, I can't code worth a ****, love networking, and in spite of doing help desk type work, really enjoy my job. I suppose it's a perk of working for a small company - you get to be the jack of all trades, but master of none (all in my case, heh). So anyway, who are you, what do you do, where from?
