Integration of NVIDIA's nForce RAID and AHCI drivers
Fernando 1 replied to Fernando 1's topic in nLite
Since you only have 1 hdd, you probably don't use RAID. If you are not able to get XP installed by just booting off the original XP CD, your S-ATA Controllers obviously are running in AHCI Mode. You should take NVIDIA's official 15.23 or 15.24 driverpack and integrate just the SATA_IDE driver folder as TEXTMODE driver - nothing else. -
1. You will not be able to integrate any textmode driver into Vista (not even by using vLite).2. Download the extracted 32bit Intel textmode driver by using the link from the start post. Then load the driver off an USB stick when prompted by Vista Setup.
-
Since the intregation of any textmode driver does not touch the OS and its applications like Internet Explorer at all, you either didn't use a clean OS CD as source or enabled the removal of some features like the IE while processing with nLite.
-
Within the original OS CD there is no file named DRIVER.CAD, but a file named DRIVER.CAB where all driver are packed. So I suspect, that you don't have an original XP CD. Nevertheless you may try to rename the file from DRIVER.CAD to DRIVER.CAB and see what happens.

Integration of NVIDIA's nForce RAID and AHCI drivers

The way you solved your problem was the best you could do.I am happy with you, that you got Windows XP x64 installed at least. You are welcome!Greetings from Germany Fernando -
@ Werner85: Welcome at MSFN Forums! Since you are new here, I want to point out, that the bumping of posts is not welcome and not even useful within this forum. Now to your problem: Usually the hardware devices are detected and installed within the GUIMODE part of the OS installation. Precondition of a successful installation of a detected device is the availability of a suitable driver. Since the needed driver (SYS file) was present within your CD, I don't see any reason to believe, that the associated driver hasn't been successfully integrated by nLite. Is it possible, that your LAN port has been disabled during the OS installation? CU Fernando

Integration of NVIDIA's nForce RAID and AHCI drivers
Fernando 1 replied to Fernando 1's topic in nLite
Your problem itself isn't off topic, because you are trying to integrate the nForce SataRaid drivers into a bootable XP CD, but the search for the reason of your problem is off topic, because you neither know your exact hardware configuration and BIOS settings nor the real content of your OS CD, which you were using as source (I still cannot believe, that your source really contains a 64bit version of Windows XP, because there is no other explanation for the error message you got).I tried to help you, but it's hard to do it this way. Someone else should have a deeper look into your hardware and software (your "XP x64 CD"). Good luck! Fernando -
Integration of NVIDIA's nForce RAID and AHCI drivers

Yes I tried this first as i didn't know about the Sata driver. It says some problems with Atapi. You don't remember the exact message? How far did Windows Setup come (before/after the hdd detection)? Vista has more in-box textmode and device drivers. Probably not, you won't be able to boot off the XP x64 CD via USB port.As an abstract of our discussion I really doubt, that you will solve your problem by your own and I cannot look into your computer. Ask any computer expert of your neighborhood for a hardware and BIOS settings analysis. By the way: Your problem is very, very off topic... Good night! Fernando -
Integration of NVIDIA's nForce RAID and AHCI drivers

I have no idea, if your DVD burner named "Optiarc DVD RW AD-7530A" is S-ATA or IDE connected. All these things doesn't really help. What we have to know is the following: 1. Are you really running RAID or are your RAID Controllers just enabled within the BIOS without any function? 2. Why does Windows Setup the message §The file NVRDX.SYS is corrupted? Have you tried to boot just off the clean XP x64 CD without lntegrating anything? If yes, does Windows Setup detect your hard disks? -

I really don't know, it is a laptop with the CD\DVD burner integrated. Download a tool like Everest and let it show the hardware details. -
Integration of NVIDIA's nForce RAID and AHCI drivers
Fernando 1 replied to Fernando 1's topic in nLite
That shows, that you have an nForce4 AMD chipset mainboard, but with different nForce S-ATA Controllers:Your first listed nForce S-ATA Controller is managing the S-ATA device in SATA 1 mode, whereas the second one does it in SATA 2 mode. Your RAID Controller seems to be enabled, but do you see any "NVIDIA Stripe" or "NVIDIA Mirror" device within the Device Manager? Do you have a S-ATA connected CD/DVD burner? How many hdd's do you see within the Disk Manager? Which disks do you see within the Device Manager? No, I don't think so. -

Nero 8 is running fine with Vista x64. Always the exactly same error message? You can do it with both methods, but I recommend to choose the "single driver" option, because otherwise you might get drivers integrated, which you don't want. No, it is no problem to create a bootable XP x64 CD while running Vista x64. If you have a mainboard with a LEGACY mode nForce4 RAID system (LEGACY mode = with the option to simultaneously create a SataRaid and a PataRaid array), you might get big problems, when you try to use the F6/floppy method. You have to load the content of the LEGACY driver folder (SATARAID and SATA_IDE will not work with F6) and you might get a BSOD at last reboot. Since your Vista bootloader will be broken by the XP x64 installation anyway, you will not be able to boot into any OS.My suggestion: Try to find out what is wrong with your XP x64 CD and the drivers you have used. If you have a friend or brother with a computer, let him try to create a bootable XP x64 CD with integrated nForce SataRaid drivers. This way you can check, if your system caused the issue. Furthermore you should find out the exact chipset name of your mainboard and check your RAM sticks with memtest. EDIT: Another idea: Give me the HardwareID's of your "NVIDIA nForce Serial ATA Controller" and "NVIDIA RAID Controller". You will get it by opening the Device Manager, right cklicking onto the devices > "Properties" > "Details" > "Property" > "HardwareID's". -

The original version additionally has a directory named "DOCS". Yes, but I don't believe that. Everything really looks like XP x64.In the root of the CD there should be a file named README.HTM. Open it with your browser. There you will see the OS name. Why are you not able to burn with a lower speed than 24x? Take a tool like Nero. -

You may try to integrate 32bit drivers. Then you will see what happens.Just download the 32bit version of my "NF4-4 non-AHCI WHQL Driverpack", unzip it and integrate the SATARAID + SATA_IDE folders. Another option: Send me a list of the folders and files you see at the root of your original CD. -

As I already have wtitten, you usually get this meessage, when you are trying to install a 64bit textmode driver onto a 32bit OS.Only other possibility: You have used a bad CD disk or burned with too much speed. Do you really have an original XP x64 CD with original label from MS? -
Integration of NVIDIA's nForce RAID and AHCI drivers
Fernando 1 replied to Fernando 1's topic in nLite
Yes, once XP x64 is up, you can install the 64bit "Performance Pack".Attention: Before you are going to update the nForce IDE drivers, you should carefully read the guide within the first post of my XP nForce chipset driver thread. Don't reboot unless you have checked, that all nForce S-ATA and RAID devices (even the hidden ones) have successfully installed the updated driver version. -
Integration of NVIDIA's nForce RAID and AHCI drivers
Fernando 1 replied to Fernando 1's topic in nLite
@ Superxcm: It's the first time you have mentioned the nForce chipset of your system. The actual nForce chipset driverpacks 15.23/15.24 offered by NVIDIA obviously do not support nForce4 RAID systems (although they are shown as compatible at NVIDIA's websites). This is what I recommend for you: Go here, download the 64bit version of my "NF4-5 non-AHCI WHQL Driverpack" and unzip it. Then integrate the SATARAID folder as TEXTMODE and the SATA_IDE folder content as PnP driver. You have to enable both "required" devices/drivers. This way you will succeed with the XP x64 installation. Good luck! Fernando -

Fernando 1 replied to Fernando 1's topic in nLite
Ok, then you should integrate the SATARAID driver folder of a 64bit nForce chipset driver package, which is suitable for the chipset of your mainboard. You have to integrate it as TEXTMODE driver. If this should not work for you, you may additionally integrate the SATA_IDE driver folder, but as PnP driver (you have to manually change the integration mode, which will be set automaticly to TEXTMODE by nLite). -

The exact name of the 64bit directory is "AMD64". Do you see such directory within your source OS CD? You can easily check it by opening the Device Manager of Vista and looking into the "Storage Controllers" section. If you see a device named "NVIDIA nForce RAID Controller", you are running RAID. -

1. Check, if you really have used the 64bit version of Windows XP (XPx64) as source. It seems, that you took the 32bit XP version and tried to integrate 64bit drivers - that doesn't work!2. Do you have a RAID array? If not, you should only integrate the SATA_IDE driver folder and not the SATARAID one. 3. Don't mix any drivers, before you try to integrate them. -
@ simphot: You will succeed with the installation of Windows XP, if your in use S-ATA Controllers are from Intel and you follow my guide. The chances are the best, if you remove 2 GB of RAM before you begin with the OS installation (you can reinsert them after having completed the XP Setup).
-
@ SpeedRacer: 1. If you want to install a 32bit OS like Windows XP you have to use the 32bit version of the Intel textmode drivers. Otherwise you will get the error message "The file iaStor.sys is corrupt". 2. Why did you load the drivers by F6/floppy method? This is the nLite Forum and my guide contains all needed informations about how to successfully integrate the Intel textmode drivers.

Integration of NVIDIA's nForce RAID and AHCI drivers
Fernando 1 replied to Fernando 1's topic in nLite
I know that, but1. Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 do have a very similar kernel, 2. Windows XP drivers usually work fine with Windows Server 2003 too and 3. there are only a few nForce drivers which were especially designed for W2k3 and 4. AFAIK there are no special W2k3 nForce IDE drivers, which do support AHCI. -
A RAID array is special conjunction of 2 or more hdd's and will be seen as 1 single device. If you only have 1 hdd, you probably don't have a RAID system. The correct controller for you obviously is the "INTEL ICH8M S-ATA AHCI Controller", but if you would enable the "INTEL ICH8M S-ATA RAID Controller too, it doesn't matter at all.
