please anyone try this and tell me if this happens in all vista machines or mine only:
- resume from hibernate
- login screen or desktop appears (according to your settings)
- don't press any key or move mouse and wait for about 10 minutes..
- system go automatically into hibernate.

my Vista is up to date with all the patches, so do you suggest installing the standalone SP1 or through windows Update ??

Vista laptop hibernate by itself after resuming from hibernate IF i didn't press key or move cursor ?
i'd set "Hibernate after" to "never" in the advanced power option, but no way.

i'd received KB943899 through windows update today 13/2/2008 which was installed before on 8/1/2008 also through windows update !!!
what's going on ?
( i didn't installed any packs manually, all through windows update ).

does windows update support resuming ? ie: if i shut down system while downloading a large update like SP1, can it resume download the next time from the point it stopped at it ?

do you mean event viewer ? it only tells you in the performance section what is delaying your boots or shutdowns, but with no fix like xp bootvis..

i'd done something else: i'd created another account and from it i deleted the Desktop folder and create a new one, this had solved the problem but now when i delete a file, i'd to press F5 to refresh desktop so that recycle bin display its empty icon !! ie the desktop is not refreshed automatically ??

i've a folder on desktop, i'd rename it by Alt + 255 to hide its name
now i can't delete it or rename...
its attribute is set to read only and can't change it also !!
i'd tried safe mode but no way.
How can i delete it ? Please Help.... Thank you

i think i'd read about bootable disks / CD rom with NTFS support, so that you can gain access to hard drive...
try search for that.

there is a tweak for LargeSystemCache and DisablePagingExecutive for XP but from what i'd read at MS site, they are for servers !!
anyone know if i can enable those settings for Vista, and what's the benefit of them ?

OK, i'd contacted Intel support and give me that reply:
This is expected behavior. The new Intel® Matrix Storage Manager takes over this setting in order allow maximum performance to be delivered. There are no negative effects whatsoever.

i'd a legal copy of vista but after install sp1 rc through windows update, it says it need to activate and the key is invalid???? any help please....
