  1. I dont use RAID myself, I only posted this incase anyone required the drivers, sorry for all the problems you are having, all I can add is, if it is and exe file that you have downloaded I would suggest that you extract the files you require using something like winRAR as winRAR can extract the files from within exe files. the initial EXE file will be built for gigabyte boards only, but you only require the driver files from within.
  2. Like I said, copyright material is illegal to P2P, however freeware isnt, and unfortunaly I read in the newspaper that a lady was just fined £13,000 because her daughter was file sharing music (copyrighted), I would sooner pay £8.99 for a CD than pay a £13,000 fine. Sony and a few other record company's currently surf the NET looking for people with drives full of shared software.
  3. Personally I would never download any of these softwares onto my machine, firstly in order to share files with other people on the net you need to have some sort of spyware installed on your machine, so that other peole from the outside can access your files when you are online, most of these P2P applications come bundled with all sorts of rubbish which is very difficult to remove from your machine. File sharing, like movies, music and applications is copyright theft and therefore illegal.
  4. Thanks for your help anyway, managed to get rid of it now, re-started in safe mode and re-ran xoftspy which detected and removed it perm. this time, restarted again into normal mode and re-ran xoftspy again just to double check and its definatly gone.
  5. Hi, sorry im new to the world of trojans, what's a faulse pos......, I have just downloaded a couple of other trojan removers from a link at the bottom of this main screen and one picked it up as my doom trojan, and another picked it up as a key logger, all in explorer.exe Thanks for the link but like I said Symantec Antiviurs is not detecting it.
  6. Hi, I have recently set up my system with windows XP Pro X64, upon running Xoftspy 4.13 through my system it has picked up a trojan named Backdoor.Graybird, eachtime I remove it and re-scan it comes back again, however symantec antivirus x64 is not detecting this trojan. Does anyone know how to manually remove this trojan, I dont know where it came from as I have a wireless router with a built in firewall, I also use windows firewall, and symantec antivirus x64 client.
  7. You must make sure that the board you are looking for has a USB header port on it, (somewhere to connect all those annoying wires), most of the lastest board carry one now-a-days.
  8. I had the smae problem with my 1st Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI board, this board carries 2 bios chips, 1 main and 1 back-up, everytime I re-started the computer, or did a cold boot, I would get the same error message, "bios checksum error" and would load from the back-up bios, I returned the board to where I brought it from as there was no current updates for the bios, so it had'nt been flashed, it had the most recent bios installed when I got it. and they reported a faulty bios chip, and replaced the board. If you cannot resolve this problem and have a removable bios chip, then you can go direct to your manufacture of the board a buy a replacement bios chip, or return the board to your supplier if it is still under warrantee.
  9. GeForce = nVidia, and in my opinion, nVidia are definatly the dogs bits and bobs.
  10. I have an AMD athlon 64 bit 3000+, the stock speed of this CPu is 1.8ghz, mine is running overclocked at 2.20ghz using Arctic Silver 5 paste and the stock HS&F, current temps are 27oC Idle and 40oC Maxed out, the book says that this CPU will reach 70oC before crashing,
  11. Hi, It sounds more like a mobo problem to me than the CPU, if the CPU has popped everything else should still power up ie CD rom lights (self test), spinning hard drive, and any case fans which you might have, etc, I know everything powers-up on my PC, it just bleeps at me in certain ways to let me know whats wrong, 5 bleeps for a faulty CPU, so I would say Mobo or PSU problem.
  12. Your friends PC that you are sorting out, is it home built or is it built by some manufacturer like Time or Packard Bell ends, if so that explaines everything, to get the latest drivers etc, you need to goto the manufacturers site of the machine, not the components web sites....if that makes any sense ....some companys like Gigabyte, MSI, PC Chips only make certain boards and parts for people like packard bell, Time etc, and dont list these boards and parts on thier own sites cos they know they're budget and crap and dont want anything to do with them. which is why I will never by a PC from a store. Honesty is the best policy.
  13. I would avoid Intel 64 bit CPU's at the moment and go for an AMD 64bit if you are looking to go 64 bit that is, Firstly: Intel currently has a very serious heat problem with their 64bit CPU's and it seems to me that they just got them out on the market quickly (without solving their problem) to try and keep up with AMD who are currently leading the way. Secondly: you dont find many Sinclair Spectrum 128's about any more, and eventually you wont find any 32bit about either, so I would look into the future and go 64bit, get a mobo with a nvidia chipset as they currently have all the 64bit drivers available. And last of all: If you do go for AMD 64bit make sure you get a Socket 939 not the 754 as they are pushing 754 out of the door, it does not support PCI-e cards and does not come with Dual channel DDR a mistake that I made without reviewing it properly first, now rectified. THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT, THE FUTURE IS AMD.
  14. Please view my system list first, I am a little confused about overclocking with it: Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI Mobo AMD Athlon XP 64bit 3000+ 1.8ghz (running @ 2.11ghz) with stock fan. 2 x Corsair PC3200 C2 2.5-3-3-8, 1T 400mhz (running @ 470mhz) 1 x Gigabyte PCI-e Nvidia Ge-Force 5750 (running @ 110mhz, RGB @ 106mhz) 1 x Gigabyte Wireless LAN Card That is basically it other than hard drives, fans, CD drives etc. Currently to get the speeds of my cpu and memory up the FSB in my bios is set to 238mhz, and the HT is set to auto, however if I set the HT to x5 my system wont boot, I find it a little strange that the CPU and memory will overclock by miles but the Hyper Transport wont overclock at all, and is currently running at 940mhz, which I will shortly bring upto 1ghz which is what it should be running at. If I manually set the HT to x5 my system will not overclock at all and has to be run at 400mhz FSB on everything.
  15. I dont think you can change the splash screen on 64 bit yet, I read a review somewhere stating that this guy found the system file that controls the splash screen and changed the image, then he re-started his machine and it failed to boot, so until someone officially releases a piece of software that will do it, I should'nt tamper to much otherwise you could definetly forsee a re-format.
  16. Oh, I forgot to mention, can you see your SATA drives in the bios, you should see them in standard CMOS features, you will see your main 4 IDE devices and then underneath that it should list the SATA drives, if you cant then you need to go into Intergrated Peripherals and make sure your SATA chips are turned on, but your RAID's are turned off, press control and F1 in the bios for more features.
  17. I was going to say the same thing, take one hard drive out or just disconnect it, and just leave which ever drive you want to install windows onto connected you can always reconnect the 2nd drive when instalation is complete. also I would recommend during set-up you do a full NTFS format of the drve rather than a quick format, especially as they are brand new, I know it takes a long time but its well worth doing, mine takes about 20secs on a quick and about 30mins on a full. And last, if it keeps booting back into set-up after every re-boot, when it has finished formatting and copying the files required for set-up, when it re-boots, just go into your bios quickly and disable all of your boot devices apart from your hard drive so the only thing it will look at is you hard drives rather than the cd drives etc, also disable your RAID chips if you are not using RAID as this maybe causing a problem with 2 un-identical drives attached, just disable everything in the bios that you wont be using. the cd is no longer required after the first re-boot apart from half way through set-up when it will copy some files and your machine will know where to look for those. You have the same mobo as me and they are very funny boards for things like that, brilliant when they are set-up, but just a bit strange at first.
  18. If you need this 64bit Driver for your XP 64 Bit set-up you can now download it from here (below), BETA 1.2.3.0: http://www.giga-byte.com/Motherboard/Suppo...A-K8NXP-SLI.htm Good Luck
  19. Thats OK PyrO, Everything that I have enabled on it so far seems to be working, Clear Page File, Clear Net History, Regwizc.dll, enable fast shutdown. CHEERS
  20. Thanks PyrO, is this software built to run on 64 Bit do you know ?
  21. Thanks dr!ll but I dont speak any german at all so I dont know what im doing on that site
  22. Hi, does anyone know how to set my computer to clear the pageing file at shut down in Windows XP 64bit, this was an option with system mechanic 5 that you could select but I would imagine that all it was doing was just simplifying some sort of regedit. I have found an option in gpedit.msc that states to "clear recently opened programs at exit", but I think that this refers to the prefech folder rather than the paging file.
  23. Hi, yeh its working fine again now, tried again at 5:12am and all went through ok, no errors, just waiting for the emailed link now.
  24. Hi, thanks for the info, microsoft have only just posted that message as it was'nt there this weekend just gone, they must have realised that they had a poblem with the download and taken the site off to rectify it.
