Here is something I made using Ms Visual Studio Basic, it requires Net Frame Work 2, to be installed. My Vb.Net Project
-
I do not know much about the inf stuff but on xp it looks like this, also I am not sure if a VBS file can run from a INF file. Have you tried putting the VBS file inside of a SFX, then it would have a exe to start instead of a VBS.I modified your script to this, just have the SFX file extract to Systemdrive, it runs and deletes the file. Save as UserUsb.Vbs, then the SFX file could be named EG : Usb.exe I made the script in to a SFX file for you to test.I Gunsmokingman give all users full permission to do what ever they want with this script. Usb.exe

1:\ Right Click Computer Icon Select Manage 2:\ Expand The Local User And Groups 3:\ Rename the administartor account to match the name in the reg file, you can also just leave the name the same for the admin, but the name must match the reg file. This is a easier a way, change the Green text to the name you want. I posted this before in a earlier thread. Save As AddAdmin.Reg

Repair option not available anymore
gunsmokingman replied to RickT's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
I do not know if this will help, but you can add the recovery console as a boot menu option. This is from SOURCE:\i386\winnt32.exe /? this cmd brings up a help menu with a list of option that winnt32.exe has, the below is what said about the recovery console. To get this to work I think the cmd would look like thisSOURCE:\i386\winnt32.exe /cmdcons You can try this vbs script and see if it works. Save As AddRecoveryConsole.vbs This is the same as the above excepts it deletes the vbs file after the RecoveryConsole been added Save As AddRecoveryConsole.vbs Here is a sfx file of the delete the vbs file -
fizban2 there again some nice points, but the machine spec I posted I do have and it does run it used to have 256 MB of ram, but the stick burnt out and or dies. It runs office fine and PSP9 not a break neck speeds but it does work, I can use this machine until the of XP product support. It just sites in a room and it never really get used any more, but if this computer or my other break down then I have a reliable maybe slow computer to use in a crunch, it also updated I down load those and burn them to cd to update it. RogueSpear this is what most people in the beta think of him hahahahahahahaha what a joke. Now the problem with that article is that he fails to mention the word beta it like he talking about a new OS, if it was then I would of agree with most, but since this is a beta, it has not reached beta 2 yet, there bound to be problems to Vista. If it was late in Beta 2 then it might make sence, but then again it not. The latest build while still buggy is a improvement over the last build. As I said before each build has gotten better. I agree about the evil MS part and there tactics, but that has nothing to do with building the a OS. It was active threw W3K, XP W2K, and so forth but yet those OS are stable and reliable to use.

I have made some changes to this HTA. This when completed will work on these Operating Systems, W2K, XP, W3K, Vista. The reason I have change the layout is because the WMI classes that work on XP may not work on W2K, W3K, Vista, that is why the he had problems and it would not work. The new layout is almost finish. The new HTA has 5 different sections, they are the Main Menu, W2K, XP, W3K,Vista. The image below show the new layout, the text that appears will not be there, it there so I can direct the output there when the script runs, so they are just makers. I am now going threw to make sure each class works so this will take a couple of days, I hope you like then new layout. When finish the main menu will have only text on it with the what the script will scan for and on what Operating Systems.

All you have to do is click on the VBS file and it will do all the intergrating stuff. You only have to change the languge for the updates. There is no cab files as that is a different method. When the script is finished, you will have a folder in %Systemdrive%\XPCD\i386\Svcpack this is where the files are. Then when you start the install of XP, at around the 13 minute mark the updates will install them self. The smaller script I install those updates threw the RunOnceEx method of a Ua install.
-
As long as you keep it updated then there is nothing wrong with XP or W2K, as you said they are proven technologies.
-
This is my Svcpack.inf it with SP2 intergrated in it. You have to install WMP 10 first before you can add any updates for it. I use a VBS script to intergrate the listed updates. Script I use to intergrate SP2 and updates this is for english and it requires %Systemdrive%\XPCD and Service Pack 2 in %Systemdrive%\XPCD\WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe. If you are using other langauges then change this WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe to WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-YOUR_LANGAUGE_HERE.exe, this must be done for only the names in the Array. Save As IntergrateXP.vbs The list of updates that I install threw the runonce method, using a VBS script, inside of a SFX Here is a SFX file of the Main Intergrate SP2 and Updates To edit 1:\ Open the SFX file with Winrar 2:\ Extract the VBS , open with notepad or whatever you use to edit VBS script 3:\ Rename the IntergrateXP.vbs inside of the Winrar to IntergrateXP_Old.vbs 4:\ Replace the edit file into Winrar 5:\ Delete this file IntergrateXP_Old.vbs inside of Winrar

fizban2 those are very good and valid points that you posted, about the features. RogueSpear you again have made more good points. That is where the problem lies if you are running a network is it worth it to upgrade all the computers if your are runnning XP SP2 and in future SP3 all updated? Are the changes in Vista enough to justify the retraining cost, upgrade of the computers worth it. You can run XP on a P2 at 300 mhz with 128 mb of ram and it will preform the duties it needed to do in a buisness enviroment and use this until the end of the product support. The minimum requierment for Vista that I know of is 256 MB of ram the processor speed I do not know what the minimum is, I am not sure what the minimum grapgic card is also. The UI I will not comment on as it may change by the time it will be released it may change. As it is right now I find it acceptable even with a gaphic card that does not support it full potentail. I not a big fan of the sidebar but in this build 5365 there are some neat gadets for it like the CPU and Memory gauges, calculator, and of course the clock. There are more but those are the ones to me that I like. Vista Desktop, IE open, Taskmanager, Sidebar, Undock Gadget

The adminstrator class does not have full adminstrator privledge, you have to use the built in administator one to get full privledge. Search threw this forum for a hack to use the full adminstrator account, I have posted one, also you can disable the uap protection.
-
No you did not sound rude. There are other colors for the themes but I do not have a graphic card that supports the new effects, so I am stuck with the one color. RogueSpear, those are very good point and I do agree with you.

I will repeat my self so you can understand it better. Vista the code is not optimised, it is running debuggers, this affect performance Some Of the thing I have running IE7 and 4 tabs, FTP server, Bittorrent Client, WMP , 3 notpad, 2 notpad2, Ms Beta Client for bug report, Ms paint, 4 window explorer, MSN messenger 2 conversation going. To compare a Beta os to one that a few years old and it code has been been optimised is like comparing a one legged man running a race agaist a 2 legged man, you can not compare them. I will say this on each build it is getting faster, statbility since build 5308 and up has increased. The install time for this build took approx 30 minutes, my CPU AMD 1700 Mhz. Why not wait and compare it when Vista is released, then that would be a better comparision. My reply was in responce to Vista and not XP uses 800 MB of ram, but then I assume most people would of know that, sorry if that was not clear to you. If XP code was not optimised and it had debuggers going how much diffence do you think you would see in ram and page file usage. It like a car the more weight on it the more fuel it uses, the slower it will go.
-
Crap please get your facts straight, I am in the beta and each build is getting better. Since it beta it has things like debuggers running so you do take a hit on performance, but when the code is final that will be removed and you gain what was lost during the beta. Microsoft has not even started to optimise the code yet. The memory usage should be around the same as W3K or XP when finished. Here are some things I have notice Sound On my computer the sound from Vista is far better then the same computer running XP. Graphics Movies look beter when playing on Vista then XP on my computer. Games I only play 1 Sniper Elite, this play about the same on my computer with Vista or XP, but the game on Vista look more brighter and it looks more crisp. Here is what Vista Build 5365 uses I have 512 MB of ram and I am running 45 processes.

What Anti-Virus do you Use/Recommend?
gunsmokingman replied to DigeratiPrime's topic in Malware Prevention and Security
Here we go again with you making assumtion, now before you go placing words in my mouth or any one else on this board lets review some of your remarks. Gouki makes it clear that he does not know much about AV, but he understand that the more flash a program has the more resources it will use, that a simple thing to comprehend. Nothing in hear about Kaspersky, or any praise about AVG. It like loading up your car the more weight it carries the less gas mileage it will get. That a fact the same applies to programs also. On to my origanl statement, can you pleas explain to me where I said and quote because you guys defend a product like AVG while praising performance over GUI, when AVG's performance and feature-set compared to that of Kaspersky is not something to write home about. Please post any thing that even justifies the red text statement, all I said and this is simple again I use AVG free, automatic updates work well, I have not caught any virus. As to the GUI stuff I made a statement that supports Gouki and I offer a explanation, no where did Gouki or I mention any names. Please prove this statement wrong now remeber stop making assumtion. How can you wreck a simple thread? I mean if I like Chocolate ice cream and you like Vanilla we are both right. How simple is that now I will restate this one more time to help you out, I have not said one bad thing about any AV, I have not praised AVG other then I like and I have been happy with it. That a truth full statement nothing more. I will quote Gouki using his example I agree with this statement and I hope most members agree with it because it 100 percent correct. If any thing it you who is bad mouthing AVG , you like what you use and I am fine with that. Now for the last time so you can understand this -
It the actual HTA outside of the SFX, that differs in size. HTA is ment to run from a desktop enviroment so it a lot more forgiving on processing the script. Try a HTML from a desktop and you will get a warning about it and a alllow to run dialog. The tag does not have to be there for a HTA. Check the one that get made, by the script I have no tag for it. Here is a quote from the HTA Developers Center Creating Your Own HTAs: The First of a Multi-Part Tutorial I have to agree with you about taste, but for me it easier to work with some that looks like sentence. As I said it will cause me to loose focus if I have to look 4 or 5 lines downward while looking left to right. On the Js I do thank you for that because I could not see any thing that was double so I did miss it. As I said Yzöwl I have complete faith in what ever you script, your cmd scripts are a good example of the excellent work you do and I believe you apply that quality in other script languages.

Yzoxl It nice that you have tooken an intrest in this but 1:\ <TR> </TR> I do not use them, and are not needed as this a HTA and it standard are diffent then HTML. 2:\ I did update the V3 sfx file Image One Image Two I do not know what happen with that other then I did update the SFX files with what you suggested 3:\ Looking at your code I got lost because It hard for me to read things in that format. It would be easy for me to miss > or < or a " : ; in that format, never mind trying to write it like that, I have tried it that way because it does look cool, but it blends it self so i have loose my focus. Until I was around 14 or 15 a word that began with W look the same to me So World look the same as What, I had to read the word before and after to fgure out the word. Now this does not happen to me as much I still have problem like that with reading and writing. 4:\ Since this can go to the right until it maximum length and in notepad2 it stops at 118 which is not that long of a line of code. If the HTA was less then 100 lines, then it would look like your but at over 800 I utilized the left to right not to mention it easier for me to read /* EXPANDS MENUS */ function expand(s) {var td = s;var d = td.getElementsByTagName("div").item(0);td.className = "menuHover"; d.className = "menuHover";} function expand(s) { var td=s; var d=td.getElementsByTagName("div").item(0); td.className="menuHover"; d.className="menuHover"; } 5:\ If you want I will send you the CSS and you can edit that to the format that you write, as it will be external in the next version, I have faith in your coding, and I do not have to look at it, I will end up with errors doing it that way. 6:\ I like the fact that you want to help and participate in this project, but please understand that when you say hundreds of errors for thing that are not needed and it is written correct or it would not work. The one you wrote works no diiferent then the one I wrote, the only difference is mine is almost 300 lines smaller then yours, plus there is a difference on the size. MSN COM Source Code Your Edit File Size 48.6 KB extracted from the SFX My File Size 44 KB extracted from the SFX. Thank you for the heads up on the js I could not even see the errrors in it until I made a script to output it, to a js file. Even then it was hard for me to see it.

First make sure you hit the stud behind the wall, because if you put a nail in it with out hitting the stud then it will fall out. There are also specail packages of screws and anchors that do not need to be attach to the stud, but be aware if it fails it leaves a nasty hole in the wall.

It was release on Friday at connect and it does not update it self threw update, I do not know if build 5365 has a update option, I am down loading it right now. I will have it installed on either later Saturday or Sunday. I would not recommend updating a version of Vista on top of a Vista install or XP install. Build 5308 had a upgrade option and that was very buggy.
