  1. Hi I can change my graphics card IRQ to 9 from 11 using WPCRSET or TweakBIOS and it will still show up as IRQ 11 in the device manager. If I try to change the IRQ through the device manager it won't let me. According to WCPUID and PCI List the IRQ is 9. PC Wizard 2005 reports it as 11. What's going on? Which IRQ is it? Thanks 98se with SP2.1a Rev Pack 3.0
  2. The problem is these programs do not disply correctly. Mainly words and sentences are blank except for the first letter. Adobe Reader 6.04 Emule .net framework installer I think the only thing all these programs have in common is they use unicows.dll. They all work fine with the exception of the .net framework installer. Also errors in dependency walker always involve Kernel32.dll and User32.dll. I have placed unicows.dll and unicows.pdb in the system folder as well as the indivual program folders. Installed the unicode fonts from office 2000. Used regsrv32.exe on all relevant files although I often get an error: "...(file) was loaded but the DllRegistryServer entry point was not found. DllRegistryServer may not be exported, or a corrupt version of (file) may be in memory. Consider using Pview to detect and remove it." Using dependency walker I made sure all the relevant files are up to date. Here is an example of the profile from dependency walker during the install of .net framework 00:00:05.620: LoadLibraryA("unicows.dll") returned 0x7F2D0000 by thread 1. 00:00:05.880: LoadLibraryA("user32.dll") called from "d:\windows\temp\ixp000.tmp\UNICOWS.DLL" at address 0x7F2D3FED by thread 1. 00:00:05.884: LoadLibraryA("user32.dll") returned 0xBFC00000 by thread 1. 00:00:05.916: GetProcAddress(0xBFF70000 [c:\windows\system\KERNEL32.DLL], "FlsAlloc") called from "d:\windows\temp\ixp000.tmp\UNICOWS.DLL" at address 0x7F2FCB8F and returned NULL by thread 1. The only thing I can think of is that Rev. Pack v3.0 is causing this but I hope not. Specs: Win 98se 98se sp2.1a Rev. Pack v3.0 Thanks
  3. Hi Check out IBM's support site for drivers and possible solutions http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss...ge=IBM+ThinkPad
  4. have you tweaked the name, path, and icon caches? cacheman is an easy way to do it if you haven't also instal sesp2.02 to fix glitches in the os good luck!
  5. Perhaps there should be an Official Unofficial service pack as well as an Unofficial Unofficial service pack with added bloat.
  6. Yeah i updated win98se with kb891711 and it locked my pc....but not right after bootup but just few minutes later...i have never seen such thing this is strange as the patch is intended for win98se...is ms tryin to stop users to use win98 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> kb891711 is an .exe that has run continously since I installed it when back when it was released. my process list shows it using 1 thread. I think my kernel32.dll used to have 5 threads but I'm not sure. now it has 4 threads. I don't know if this means anything...
  7. Same thing happened to me. Reinstalled windows and it happened again. I copied vmm32.vxd to a different location, ran the installer, when it asked if I wanted to restart my computer I chose not to. vmm32.vxd was now gone from the system folder. before restarting i moved the copied vmm32.vxd into the system folder. this time it worked fine. i'm not sure if everthing installed correctly though. could launching SP2RC1 from a different drive than the one windows is installed in cause this problem? what information can I give that would be helpful in solving this problem?
