  1. Also, Activating XP on one system will not stop it from prompting you to reactivate it again in another system. There are lots of things that can trigger this.
  2. Mmm. It defo not matter. same results. Start wait regEdit /S %SystemDrive%\Drivers\install.reg
  3. Just checking but the install.cmd isn't really called install.bat as stated above, is it? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nope, install.cmd is what it is. My typo.
  4. argon007, I appreciate the help. I'll have to test this later. I'm not sure why this would change my out come as everything is executing (step by step validation) as expected. But, you never know. This could be why it so intermittent.
  5. [GuiRunOnce] %SystemDrive%\Drivers\install.cmd Install.bat Regedit -s %SystemDrive%\Drivers\RegKeys.reg Again, it executes as needed. Its just that the keys are not sticking/applying. Thanks for the effort argon007. Chris-
  6. yea, Did. Same issue. Now if I execute the reg file manually. Or call the batch after install manually. It will work.
  7. From your initial post, it's all questionable. It looks like MS has quite a few different things that fall under that stop message. If you have not aleady one so, I'd try and do a fresh install from scratch and see what you find. Do not use any 3rd soft packages or tweaks let us know.
  8. Well, I've tried it all. I've tried to use cmdlines.txt and GUIRunOnce. The registry entries I want applied to the system during or directly after the install will not apply correctly. either some keys will and others won't. The funny thing is, it is different with each attempt!? GUIRunOnce - I thought GUIRunOnce was a porblem because the Explorer Shell wasn't initialized. So I put a delay so the Shell would load. It worked once or twice, but it is not consistant. I even removed the silent switch to regedit so it would prompt me when the reg file was to be imported. After clicking OK, it came back with the "everything is successfuly' messagebox. But it no worky. CmdLines.Txt - Same problem. Has anyone else experienced this! 9. Hey MyDomain, I appreciate the help. I think I've got it going now. Something simple, just required a bonehead fix. I would up putting in a delay before the reg file was executed so it runs when the desktop is visible. I think it was seems to work fine on what I've teted so far. Chris-
  10. When is the right time to add reg entires in an unattended mode? GUI,command
  11. Br4tt3, You were right. Waiting for a few minutes proves the window will go away. Thanks for the advise. I'm still gonna look for another solution
  12. Thanks for the reply Br4tt3. I'd ultimatly like to make the installs as seamless as possible. Since everything now is Pnp which is what Windows ultimatly installed it as (Pnp Monitor) when I let it search for drivers. So I got to think there is a better way handling it though. But then again....
  13. Quick question, I know this Forum is geared more specifically fo CD installations, is it OK for me to post RIS and ripep Q's too? Or, is there a forum more specific to RIS aound here? Moving right along.. I can't seem to figure out why the GUI portion of the install has detects the monitor and wants to install it. The only thing I can think of is that the video driver install during GUI is prompting this. This just doesn't sit well since it stops setup prompting for the user to act. I used to execute each driver install via batch after GUI setup completed, this turned out to be expensive (time based) because I had to keep up with all the different driver install switches and scenarios. Yuck! Any ideas? Chris-
  14. I've noticed that running several tweaks such as disabling the Screen saver and disabling the security center in Xp do not work when the GUIRunOnce executes the reg file. I'm running it in batch and after all drivers have been installed. If I execute the reg file after the desktop comes up (GUI comand has completed) it will work fine or if I reboot the system. Has anyone seen this? Chris-
  15. My understanding is that only the folders you put in thr OEMPath would get copied. Is this not the case?
  16. Let me see if I can explain this correctly. My goal is to use RIS and one flat image only. I've found that riprep images are rather large in size and to fix this, I'm trying to use a single flat CD image to do the installations. My environment contains about 60 different hardware system configurations. So I would put all these hardware specific drivers under the $oem$\$1\System1;$oem$\$1\System2;$oem$\$1\System3.. folders and have 60 different .sif files located in the template directory. I'd just choose the appropriate .sif and have it copy over the correct drivers during install. I know I'd have to copy each and every third party nic to the flat i386 folder too. Does this sound efficient? Has anyone else done such a task? Any suggestions. Chris-
  17. I have one CD image and I'd like to have oem files for 2 different machines (Dell GX260, Dell 4600). Can I reference 2 different .sif files for each machine to only copy the oem files needed so I am not copying both sets of files? Thanks Chris-
  18. Any body now how to automatically configure Windows XP Sp2 to set all power options to 'Never'? Thanks, Chris-
  19. I Created a FAT32 partition and made it bootable to dos (7.0). Installed Xp and then Ripreped it. Problem is, when I apply the riprep image to the same drive it wants to format it and destoy the dos boot ability. Creating a clean install of dos and using the images does the same this. If I used just the CD image from RIS, it goes through fine allowing me to dual boot. The goal is to dual boot between Dos/ XP and use riprep for dist. So I'm using these Sections and Keys [Data] Autopartition = 1 [unattended] ExtendOEMPartition = 0 [RemoteInstall] Repatition = No UseWholeDisk = No Any idea whats goins on? Chris- Windows 2000 Adv. Server SP4 XP SP2
