  1. I can't get into the bios to change the boot order.
  2. Right now i can only get into Safe Mode. I'm not use to doing anything in this setting. Will I still be able to use fdisk? Under the Safe Mode. it says that it does not reconized fdisk command??? If I let the computer start normally, here's what happens. It starts up shows the bios settings, "which I haven't been able to get in using the delete button." then it shows the Intel Motherboard background pic, then it shows the XP logos loading, then it shows a black screen and never goes beyond that. I would like to get it to work for them to show them it's a better OS, but I need help.
  3. I'm doing this for a friend. All they want to do is use two programs that they already have that will only work on Windows 98SE. They don't care about XP at all. I tried to convince them, but it comes down to their computer. Thanks for the help, I'll try the fdisk thing. Let you know how it goes.
  4. I have a computer that I want to use for my business. It will not access the internet. I want to take Windows XP Pro off of it to install Win 98 SE. How do I go about getting rid of XP Pro?

  9. I was having problems with my computer so I decided to use the recovery mode on my HP pavilion a527x computer with XP home edition. Everything went great, I did the one without reformatting the harddrive and losing everything. Since then if I don't do anything on the internet for awhile, when I click on some link to access the internet I can't get on and then I have to reboot the computer to get on the internet again. It sucks

  13. No, I do not have symantec norton internet security installed. I did do a System Restore back to a time when I didn't have this problem, but it's still happening now. If I go into Safe Mode, then I can shut down the normal way

It says A problwm has been detected and windows has been shutdown to prevent damage to your computer Error Driver_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL ***STOP: 0x000000D1 ( 0x0000002B, 0x00000002, 0X00000000, 0xF7B1F9B0 ) *** kbdclass.sys - Address F7B1F9B0 base at F7B1F000, Datestamp 41107b08 Don't know what it means? After if I press the off button on the CPU it shutdowns the computer. If I restart and then press to shutdown, this same warning comes up and then if I press the button it shuts down This is waht the Event Viewer Shows Windows saved user WINXP\Owner registry while an application or service was still using the registry during log off. 18. CRAP!!!! I was using the computer to scan pictures, after scanning about 60 pics all of a sudden the screen froze. I tried everything including the three finger salute, but nothing would restart it, so I shut down the computer and restarted it and now I'm back to no display at all.
  19. Thanks yusmol I took the old card (the original one) out of the slot. I then blew the slot with air and some dirt came out. I then used an eraser on the tips of the card and then reseated it. WOW It works now with no problems
  20. I have now tried three different monitors and two different video cards and still nothing shows up on the display. Anyone out there can help me please This has never happened before.
  21. I have clean and reseated the card a number of times. I have checked the pins on the cable coming from the monitor. There is power coming to the monitor, but nothing, I repeat nothing shows up on the screen.
  22. I'm running PIII 733E with 256 memory. I have two hard drives - 3.8 and a 40 gig. I have a 17 inch Acer Monitor. A couple days ago, I restarted my computer and I couldn't see anything on the monitor. Then I left it for a couple hours and restarted it and then the monitor came on and I could use the computer. Yesterday I restarted again and nothing. I had a ATI Radeon Vidoe card in it. I took it out and put in an ATI 128 Radeon Vidoe card with TV in&out. I still could not see the monitor, as if it wasn't turned on. I replaced the monitor with a regular 15 inch monitor and again nothing. Any ideas Heartofgold
