what's the difference between dual female XLR and mono female XLR? and what stereo phone plug look like? and also, will the transmission from XLR to 1/8" phone jack downgrade the outcoming sound?

If you want *decent* sounding recording, using onboard audio isnt going to cut it. They arent meant to sound good; just work. You dont need a professional quality card or anything, but even a $40-$50 sound blaster or other type addin card should make a huge difference in the amount of audible static. It also depends on the quality of the source to. Since youre trying to record from video tape, I suggest using a 4+ head hifi VCR. Was the source tape recorded in a cheap VCR (sound quality goes down fast when transferring music using consumer grade analog equipment), or was it a retail copy of a movie or something (the better choice of the two)? i had tried out my fd's sound card for recording, and the audio turned out lousier than my onboard one, and so i found out later that the card was made in 1999... i have no clue what kind of sound card i need for a good quality for recording, can someone give me some suggestions? my price range is from 20 to 50.

is there any sound card that have auto filter for hiss noise upon recording? coz i personally believe that if i reduce the hiss after the recoridng, it will lose more signals from the original.

currently my sound card is the one that comes with the machine. when i record audio from video tape, the playback has a relatively heavy hiss noise. do i need to get a better sound card? or were there some settings that i missed?

is there any program that can convert avi(divx/xvid encode) to dvd format so that the output file can remain about the same size as the original? for example, i have a 300mb avi file, the birate is about 2500kpbs, and when i try to convert it to dvd format, it gave me a 1Gb+ mpeg2 file, with about 8000-9000kbps. I think it's a waste of space that a 2500kpbs picture will never have the quality as 8000kpbs.

i had installed a software from my ISP(those program that help register account), and after a reboot, i was told that my oleaut32.dll file was out of date, and then i replace the oleaut32.dll file with a newer one to fix the problem, after that, my applocale is not working. it can run, but it is not doing any encoding.

i ask my friend to send me his Oleaut32.dll file, and then replace the one in my system32 folder.

i have installed a program that goes along with my cable installation cd, and after that, i can not open some ie windows and some p2p programs. The error message is as the pic. what does the message mean, and how to fix it?

in the process of installing a program, i terminate the process by shutting it down with task manager. And then i can't install or remove it. when i run the setup again, it only let me chose between "repair" and "remove" option. And both don't seen to work. i had deleted the entire program folder and run remove again, but it still display that 2 options. help!!!

as the attachment pic, how to move away that dotted line in mid-right? i have try to pull it to the either left or right, but it still takes up the space in the taskbar.

I saw a folder "Run-" that contain all the programs(with path) that were suppose to run at system startup, what should i do now?

I'm using Windows XP sp2, there are several services and programs are set the run at system start, like the antivirus and the hotkey for my keyboard, but after the incident, all these programs and services did not run at system start, the only icons i see at the bottom right now are the volume icon and connection icon. i don't know what has happened to my computer before.

all my startup programs fail to run at windows start, when i run msconfig, the startup tab only shows the one that i disable before, all the one that were set to run are missing. I dont know what is wrong. I think this is cause by my improper shutdown earlier.

the qualtiy make by windows movie maker is so bad, try to use other softwares.
