  1. Yeah, patcher9x is must-have for VM. On the other hand, i guess it won't harm to install official MS updates with bug-fixes (security holes for 9x not so actual) and maybe some unofficial stuff with same purpose. Upd. Founded one interesting thing, some update cd with official updates only (https://archive.org/details/w98se-upd-r1). I guess this thing is also worth to be checked. Upd2. Speaking about BolenB sets for integration. I founded thread on old-games, but it has sets only for russian release, are they presented somewhere for english too?
  2. It will be used inside VM (VMware), no real hardware (both old and modern).
  3. I guess that Family PCI Port is some thing, that has driver inside intel chipset driver. I uploaded some other stuff, which i still have. https://mega.nz/folder/hmVhVQhL#apTGDi4xF5jHT0UmocVUGA All drivers for network i have and uploaded not mentioning Windows 98 support. But looks like one of Suyin drivers for camera mentions 9x compatibality (5.7.16). Maybe it will work, idk. Upd. Also did you tried this - https://retrosystemsrevival.blogspot.com/2019/06/intel-ich-2345678910-chipset-drivers-9x.html ? I945 chipset never had official support for 9x, only unofficial driver from LoneCrusader. If you don't care about 3d, VBEMP driver can be used instead of Nvidia unofficial version. Can't found any sound/network drivers with 98 and ME support. I guess it's better to try install Win 9x on older hardware. Upd 2. Checked internet again, most of this laptop hardware never had drivers for systems older than Windows 2000 (except card reader).
  4. Maybe you should install chipset driver before all that stuff? Of course, if 945pm express chipset driver presented in Windows 9x compatible releases. But on other hand, it was laptop from period of XP/Vista era, so not surprised about it bad work under 98.
  5. Yep, only changelog, since i had version 9.0.3c and it's not declared Windows 9x compatibality. Also my saved video (179.48) and sound (R281) drivers are Windows Vista/7 versions only. Upd. Added that 9.0.3c driver.
  6. I had simillar model in past. Looks like some drivers, which i had for that laptop could work also on Windows 9x. Some stuff were taken here (https://digiex.net/threads/acer-aspire-as5633wlmi-laptop-vista-windows-7-x64-drivers.119/) and other just downloaded somewhere else several years ago. Unfortunately, i sure only about Card Reader driver (since other stuff requires at least 2000). https://mega.nz/folder/hmVhVQhL#apTGDi4xF5jHT0UmocVUGA Also here is changelog from Synaptics Pointing Device, it has info about versions, which have Windows 9x support (8.3.17 and earlier), but i have only later release without that. Can't say anything about video and audio drivers, since i used on this laptop only XP and 7, and almost all saved software (including some Acer tools)/drivers were for them only. Upd. Also added Acer-specific stuff and some rare non-Acer drivers.
  7. So... since internet has lots of different updates lists (and some of them now became obsolete), which updates or their packs better to install on Windows 9x in 2025?
  8. Thanks for all your replies, i'll check this stuff later.
  9. Which language and development/compiler tools (preferably open-source) would be better (easier to learn, consuming less resources) for person, who knows nothing about programming (me)? I have interest in creating several apps, which will be useful for me in Windows 9x, because apps i want don't exist, or requires newer systems, and i also won't loosing time for transferring files between host and VM so much as i need. At least smth like HashTab/OpenHashTab, but for Windows 95-ME (with MD5, SHA-1 and maybe some other checksums). Further maybe i make smth else. Also where i can get useful info (books, discs and so on) about learning language stuff, old winapi, checksums and other useful things?
  10. There was one project a long ago "SH95UPD"
  11. Yep, better to upload it on archive.org
  12. The only collection of Office 97 updates, which i found in web. Thanks!
  13. I'm looking only for latest updates after final service pack (after SR2 for 97, and after SP3 for after Offices). I arleady had this, but it hasn't proper information about included updates and order of setup. Maybe someone had anything else?
