I guess the links are from the Windows Update v4 website. I found an article written by pcworld.com regarding the support extended for Windows 98. Microsoft planned to end the support of Windows 98 on January 16, 2004 and December 31, 2004 for Windows Millennium Edition initially, but extended until June 30, 2006 at first then July 11, 2006. From the past security bulletin, they indicated that will only provided security updates for critical security issues and updates for non-critical security issues are not offered during the support period from 2004 to 2006. The most important is the updates from this period was provided on the Windows Update v4 website exclusively and never made their way to the Download Center except for a few languages that the v4 site didn't support.
Hello, I am trying to archive the updates of Windows 9x and NT4 for all languages, as they're trying to get rid of everything sooner or later, there are many of them already removed but plenty of them are still laying at http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3-19990518/cabpool/, the only problem is all the filenames on this server comes with sha1 hash and preventing to get the remaining files in different languages, any chance to obtain the hash string for some (if not all) files? The Wayback Machine has some of them but it is far from complete. For example the direct link for Windows 98 Q168115 English is http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3-19990518/cabpool/168115us8_9FBAA7D7E330F2A3668C82B93548F9ECB15506F4.exe, but if we know the hash for different languages of the same update then the rest can be archived and preserved for posterity! Thanks for the help!
