windows 8.1 is a lot faster, 100 percent agree! The question is whether the employer lets you use it.
yeah well that's not happening, we just began to phase out windows 10, because the support is nearing the end. The funnies thing about that is that we have 3 windows server 2012 r2 running the surveilance system, remote desktop etc..

Looks like the OP won't be allowed to reduce, modify those 10 OS at work.
Unfortunately, I can't do much with the bloat. we have teamviewer running in the background with teams, outlook, edge and onedrive. There are some dell programs and I tried to get them removed, but ultimately was not allowed to do so. It seems to be related to the cpu frequency though, cause the cpu is underclocking to 1.1-1.8 Ghz and the temperature is around 40-58 degrees so I don't quite get it.

Btw 4th gen i5 with 8gb of ram running windows 8.1 is a lot faster than this piece of crap...

Hi,
we are deploying 10 laptops with the same exact specs. These are used just for word processing, internet browsing, printing and teams meetings with dual monitors. I though that 13th gen i5 is a bit overkill, but as it turned out it is the exact opposite. The laptop feels really slow, ui is lagging, opening file explorer takes 3-5 seconds??? Is this windows 11 issue, or is this cpu weak? cause I find this really hillarious. Everything is set to it's highest performance mode including bios.

Intel core i5-1335U

I really didn't expect that valve would "upgrade" their chromium from 85 to 109 just to keep supporting 7 and 8 despite their official claims. I'm not complaining, but why bother with the announcement that they won't support them?
latest beta branches are working under 8.1 and they keep getting updates.

"also" ? what else is "not true" ?
I won't argue with you, I was actually in middle of czech conversation and I was responding to this in english so i pronounced myself wrongly, I meant that this statement you wrote is not correct, cause videos are being accelerated on chromium browsers on platforms such as disney+, netflix, youtube. For some reason 1440p and up on youtube at least is just not working under 8.1. So yeah, I wrote it misleadingly and you didn't bother to respond to anything relating to gpu acceleration.

They removed any form of accelerated videos on all OSes below win 10, thanks for yet another confirmation.
This is also not true. Because 1080p 60fps is accelerated on gpu, netflix is accelerated on gpu. 1440p and up is not accelerated. At least on 8.1

... Unless you have a recent GPU that supports H/W VP9 decoding, only S/W decoding via CPU takes place for 8k60 YT (do YT serve >=1080p files encoded in H.264?) - Wiki says that "full fixed-function VP9 8-bit and 10-bit decoding acceleration" was only added in Intel's Quick Sync Video v6, starting with Kaby Lake; don't know about the AMD side of things...
It does work for me on windows 10 though.
rtx 2060 and r5 3600 so I think it is not working under w 8.1

1080/720 Youtube videoplay in Chrome ver. 111/112 running on Windows 8.0/8.1 removes Intel iGPU micro stuttering. (With, of course, a gpu capable of playing 720/1080.)
Stuttering? I have few computers with intel hd graphics ranging from sandy bridge to skylake with no stuttering on yt videos. And I don’t really think that it uses gpu anyways since whenever I try 8k60fps on my main pc the cpu gets heavily utilized

Why? The updates should work as they are until October 2023. Then you could install it
my 8.1 just rollbacks all server 2012 r2 updates

Your iso should have usb 3 drivers integrated. but I’m not sure if windows 7 is able to boot on NVMe drives. I think it was added in 8.1. Try sata ssd?

Hi,
so I bought myself a present and got windows 8.0 pro sealed in box. I even built period correct computer for that. I know we have 8.0 diehards over here so my question is:
1) I updated the os and now I see "hey you should update to 8.1 or 10" message. What's the quickest way to update it with server 2012 updates andd should I be worried about anything?
2) .net framework 4.8 (is it even possible?)
3) Internet explorer (should I even bother with ie11?)
4) Windows 7 explorer on 8 is it worth trying or just stick with openshell?
Thanks

Unfortunately, I have to maybe go off topic, but I can't create new topics anywhere anymore or visit huge part of this site. Am I blocked? Did I do anything?
Thanks
