Update: At the moment it seems, that it might - after all - be possible to support the /integrate: option. Because of all the work I'm putting into this, the next Update Pack (Unofficial Rollup 1) build won't be ready tuesday. But you'll rather wait a few more days and have /integrate - am I right? Best regards Gurgelmeyer
-
Maybe.
-
@Ghostrider - Yep - I'll have a solution before the MS URP hits the web! As soon as Microsoft decides to release their URP, I'll have mine available an hour later or so; it will include many more hotfixes than any previous version, AND it will include the final MS URP itself.
-
@Ghostrider - that's exactly how I want it to work too B)

7000-8000 threads is definately too much. It's not just a w2k/w2k3 issue - it's a common Java issue. I went to a presentation at Sun Microsystems awhile back, and they told us explicitly that reducing the number of threads in scenarios like this was one of the the best ways to improve performance. Somewhere at sun.com there's a profiling tool - but I don't remember its name I'm afraid. Best regards Gurgelmeyer B)

@slippykillsticks - thanks a lot for your support - I appreciate it! June 14 is still my best bet for the MS URP - but who knows, it might show up earlier. Sometimes there are 4 weeks or so between build time and RTW - the Redmonians are probably still busy testing this update thoroughly (at least I hope they are). @you-known-who-you-are-and-you-told-me-not-to-tell-anyone - thanks!! @boooggy - thanks!! 10 new hotfixes integrated (I always find a few extra ones don't I) - 2 more for tomorrow I hope Best regards, Gurgelmeyer
-
AAARGHHH!!! (sry for shouting - hope I didn't scare anyone) Already got 254 non-public hotfixes but I found 10 more hotfixes today - need someone to help me get the last 8 of those.... anyone - PLEASE PLEASE (Can't offer any special "reward" this time - but I'll owe you a favor if you help me out!) Best regards Gurgelmeyer B) PS - You won't need the MS URP1 when it becomes available - I'm ready to include it in a complete rebuild when it hits the web - just give me 1 hour
-
Thanks moris I don't think all files in the Update Pack are truely localized - I doubt that such things as device driver files contain many localized strings. But check your PM's. Btw I'm working on some "post-MSURP" hotfixes right now (rebuilt versions of existing ones - I just got them!!), and a slipstreaming tool (codename "NTGRATE"). If I can't finish NTGRATE soon, I'll write a batch file or something to slipstream the next Update Pack. B) Best regards Gurgelmeyer

Thanks B) (removed the bad links from my first post now ) Gurgelmeyer

@Oleg_II - I'll do my best to make that possible

PS - (Just to clarify) The Update Pack contains W2K "native" hotfixes - the Option Pack (which is not a pack yet) includes all the new components and the fixes for those - so Update Pack + Option Pack = Fully patched W2k with all fixes, the latest components and all fixes for those too. There are a few IE6SP1 fixes that I haven't included yet (316116, 323061, and 325666) - I got one of them myself (yeah!) and someone is working on getting the other two fixes for me B) Stay cool - more news soon And finally: A BIG THANK YOU to those of you who are testing my packages
-
@Oleg_II - I won't rename the .cat files for the publicly available updates in the final version then, and I'll update the registry so it looks the way WU expects it to look. If QfeCheck only looks at the 100 catalog files installed it will miss the other >120 updates. Daisy v2.2 is probably not MS URP1 aware (?), which is why it will list a lot of pre-MS URP1 security updates. Generally - only one (1) security update is included in my Update Pack: the latest MS URP beta, which someone sent me a week or two ago (don't remember). BUT: the MS URP includes all "native" W2k security updates (more than 100 I'm told), and the registry is updated to reflect that already. None of the other >220 updates (except for one I think, which is not a security update) are available from WU anyway. So the only KB-number you need to worry about is KB891861 - the corresponding .cat file is SP5-099.CAT in this build and its original filename is SP5.CAT. B) @boooggy - I'll look into it then Best regards Gurgelmeyer
-
@Oleg_II - yes - but you have to do it manually. Everyone - should I do a quick slipstreamer for the Update Pack and leave the Option Pack for a few days? It's all the same to me Best regards, Gurgelmeyer

Hmm.. can't edit my post - please download from http://www.willsdownloads.com/hotstream/hotstream.php Update Pack Gonna upload the Update Pack too - Windows2000-URP1-x86-ENU.exe - consider it beta until the MS URP hits the web this tuesday - I'll do a rebuild when the time comes to include the MS URP. The Update Pack is the one with ALL known hotfixes for W2k Pro/Server. Option Pack These are just BETA components - the final Option Pack will be a single file update. Gurgelmeyer
-
ARP depends on MDAC and MSHTA, so the reboots are important - don't skip them - once these components are merged into one - the Option Pack - only one reboot will be required of course. B) I'll edit the links... Best regards Gurgelmeyer
-
My thoughts exactly - I'm actually waiting for MS. Btw, I renamed the Update Pack to "URP1", which is short for "Unofficial RollUp 1" Well - still got work to do on the Option Pack though... if anyone wants to check out the repacked components, they are now available for public download thanks to war59312 1 - DA.EXE (Data Access + XML + JET + fixes etc) 2 - IC.EXE (IE6SP1 + WAB6 + OE6SP1 + fixes) 3 - DX.EXE (DirectX 9.0c) Available here: http://www.willsdownloads.com/hotstream/hotstream.php I might mention, that all the Option Pack components can be safely and completely uninstalled (including DX9). Best regards, Gurgelmeyer B) edit: link fixed
-
Thanks to a few very helpful prople, I now have 22 new hotfixes (almost). That's a total of >240 in the final Update Pack! B) Expect some great news soon! And don't install the MS URP1 even if it shows up on WU - it will be part of the Update Pack Public release of the Update Pack is within a day or two - so .. er... "stay tuned" Got to get some sleep now I'm afraid.... I'll try to finish the Option Pack too
-
Thanks RyanVM Files should be on public FTP soon - so everybody will get a chance to test B) Best regards Gurgelmeyer

Thanks for your support - means a lot to me

Moving fast now B)
-
@dirtwarrior - Thanks for your support - my updates can only be slipstreamed manually at the moment (and - trust me - that is hard work). When the packages are final, I'll take care of slipstreaming - I wanna slipstream them too B) Everyone: I NEED VOULENTEERS TO GET 8 MORE HOTFIXES FROM MICROSOFT - I overlooked those earlier because they are quite old - please help me! (I can't get anything from Microsoft myself anymore). PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE. I have a special "reward" for anyone who helps me - so send me a PM if you wanna help me out (you just have to own a valid W2k license and make a phone call - that's all it takes). I'll have news on the option pack later today. Best regards, Gurgelmeyer
-
@war59312 / Will - yes please - I definately need somewhere to upload - please send me a PM if you can help me. @booogy - I better hurry up and finish the Option Pack too then B) Best regards, Gurgelmeyer

[win2k] hangs on preparing network for connection
Gurgelmeyer replied to JeroenV's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
Don't worry - it's probably not a virus. Check the eventlog to see what service fails now (most of them depend upon eachother) and disable that. Keep doing this until the message stops popping up at boot. A lot of things can cause this behaviour - also, security updates sometimes break stuff - did you install any of those recently? Best regards, Gurgelmeyer -
Well - we cant have that, can we So which Office/Outlook (version, SP level) on which OS (version, SP level) are you using? Have you tried calling Mircoofst Sruoppt Best regards, Gurgelmeyer
-
Yep - June 14 - that's my current guess B) And it even has some exciting new file system support for DRM built in (a friend of mine sent me a copy) - for those who are not as excited as Microsoft about this, I'll do a repack of the URP without it.
