  1. Hello all! I have a problem, I want to make ability to install Visual Studio .NET 2003 on my unattended DVD. But I do not want to install components such as IIS during the ordinary installation, so it should look this way: if one wants to install VS .NET later he just runs the CMD file that installs the necassary components before the VS. NET unattended installation. Please tell me is it possible? Thank you!
  2. Ladies and Gentlemen! I got it!!! I was right the data was encrypted! But I found it with ARM! And it is right here: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\Outlook\9375CFF0413111d3B88A00104B2A6676\ Enjoy, mates!
  3. Thanks, jivemastert! But I already found the data file and my problem is the account settings. I tried searching registry as well before I posted this message but I failed. My guess is that probably Outlook encrypts the account data it stores in registry and I tried searching registry using the e-mail address that I have registered in my Outlook 2003 account. No results so far...
  4. Thank you very much, but the question was "Where Outlook stores the account settings?". Thanks anyway for your response.
  5. Hello all! Does anyone know where Outlook 2003 stores it's account settings such as mailbox data? I have to reinstall Windows frequently and it's a pain to register all my e-mail accounts every time after the reinstallation. P.S. Please note that I'm not talking about the data file with the messages itself, but the file that stores the e-mail account settings! Thank you!

  7. Well, probably I have wrong or corrupted "Setup.exe", and it refuses to handle the XML file. Could anyone please look up and tell me please the the date and time in the Setup.exe file properties "Modified" field? Mine is "April 6 2005, 0:08:54" I have a feeling that I'm doing something wrong... Thank you in advance!
  8. Hello all! I've got a problem trying to make an unattended Adobe Creative Suite 2 installation. It sounds silly and I'm doing something wrong probably, but I do everything as written here but it doesn't work for me. The setup starts in a normal (not unattended) way. It shows the welcome screen and all. Any ideas? Sorry for starting a new topic, I know this method was described here, but it seems that it worked okay for all the users but me... So if there's someone with the same problem please do drop me a line! Thank you!
  9. Yeah, mates! I also confirm that 4.9 works fine!
  10. Sorry, I didn't want to do it, my internet is slow today that's why, sorry again mates, It looks terrible, I know.
  11. Hello all! I've got a GOTVIEW PCI DVD tuner and when I watch the TV channels in MCE2005 I see the TV picture is stretched vertically and I don't see the bottom of the image. So when for instance there's a 16:9 movie I don't see the black bar that is below the picture... How do I fix it? Any suggestions?
  12. Hello all! I'm looking for a file or registry key where the TV channel settings are stored in MCE2005. Any information is appreciated, thank you!

  15. Hello all! Just about to tell you that the new nVidia driver works great with my low-end Sony TV. I haven't expected it at all, thought the crappy picture I had is all I can get with my SCART connection. Installed the new drivers and everything changed totally for me, TV signal is very crisp, colours are bright, nice and everything is adjustable. Yet probably it's a coincidence but think that the new driver solved the problem with the noise on my TV screen when I had another PC turned on which is at about 3m from my MCE set. In general, the new 72.14 MCE drivers were amazing for me, haven't expected such dramatic impovements! But probably that's only for my case, please share your opinions! My MCE2005 hardware is: Albatron 865PE mainboard, Albatron GeForce FX 5200 video card, Celeron D 2.4 GHz processor, 21" CRT Sony Trinitron with SCART connection.
  16. Sorry for delay, friends! Well, I'm not familiar with the iPod players actually, going to buy the iPod Shuffle though. And so I do not know about such things, but allow me to repeat it again, the idea of changing the install paths seems to be strange to me 'cause there's a wonderful proverb "When in Rome do as Romans do.", in other words "When in Windows do it the way Micro$oft does it", cause I think installing your stuff in other directories is:1. Dangerous cause even if you'll be a lucky one to install the stuff where do you want it to be installed you don't know how the other software will react on it. 2. Makes your %SYSTEMDRIVE% untidy! 3. DOESN'T WORTH IT!!! Cause changing the INSTALLDIR you get so many problems I can't really imagine.
  17. First, how to take the iTunes installer out of the package without the QuickTime stuff: 1. Open your %TEMP% folder and erase all folders there, it will be easier to find the iTunes temporary folder. 2. Start iTunesSetup.exe. DO NOT CLOSE THE WINDOW! 3. Look inside the newly created folder in your %TEMP% folder (in my case it has the name "_isD8") 4. You'll see the iTunes.msi file. And that's it. No QuickTime!!! You can use all the switches with this file, such as: ISSETUPDRIVEN=0 ASSUME_MEDIA_DEFAULTS=1 ASSUME_QT_DEFAULTS=0 ALLUSERS=1 SILENT_INSTALL=1 /QN Second, how to examine the iTunes.msi file: There's a great utility called ORCA. It's a part of Windows Installer SDK. Of course you may download the entire SDK from Micro$oft, but you may find this utility alone if you try... It's nice and handy and you can inspect the MSI packages for switches and all, and you can also modify the packages. So download it, open the iTunes.msi file and look for the "Property" table. Here you go! BUT! As far as I know you'll also loose the iPod functionality and you won't be able to burn CDs. I was inspecting these things two or three months ago, so I can't say for sure what you'll have to do to make the iTunes work after such unconditional installation, but in other words the problem is that in this case of installation iTunes doesn't register some services and stuff as it does during the ordinary installation. So good luck to you on this hard way named "I can't stand QuickTime"! And please explain me this thing: Does the QuickTime alternative use the native codecs taken out of the QuickTime installation or it has it's own codecs compatible with QuickTime? That's important for me 'cause I like iTunes mainly for it's great sound made by the QuickTime codecs, and I doubt that the codecs supplied with the QuickTime alternative can produce the same great sound (if they are not the native QuickTime codecs of course).
  18. @erik_demon: You're welcome, my friend! @durex: Well, the question is: why do you want iTunes without QuickTime if it won't work without it? . I doubt there's a switch, at least I couldn't find it in the iTunes installer. Yet why do you think Apple should include such switch if it will make troubles with playback?! I haven't explored this way, but I think you'll have to install the QuickTime Alternative or something anyway. Because literally there's no sound without the QuickTime codecs... Another reason is: iTunes uses the QuickTime codecs for playback, and they are FAR BETTER than the Windows Media Player codecs for instance. You may feel the difference even on the middle-end acoustics and sound card (I've tested it on the AudioTrak Prodigy 7.1 sound card + Defender Volcano 2 speakers). So iTunes with QuickTime codecs is really the best audio player around. If you really can't stand QuickTime, think maybe the best solution for you will be just to add a line in your script that deletes the QuickTime folder from the Start Menu.
  19. Read this! And read my post in the end of the first page. Don't they have the 7.0.1 as all-in-one file on the Adobe web site?
  20. @oioldman - The truth is yours also. That's cause we have different aims I think: I'm trying to install software "as is" and think that's great (and by the way the original Adobe Reader installer is packed really very hard and it takes time to extract it, yet I don't have much space on my unattended CD, mean it's not DVD) you say about the RyanVM's method, it's good also, but still think I'm a confirmed "purist" here The installers that come from the software makers have sometimes (take iTunes for instance) switches that allow to control the installation the way you want. So the question is are you ready to find and put these switches in your script that installs software or not. Yet you have to wait for the specially repacked new version of your software, and I can put it on my CD right after I download it from the official site 'cause the new versions have the same switches in their installers in most cases... But of course there are exclusions. I'm having difficulties with Skype at the moment, it installs okay, but I can't disable the update mechanism after the installation (and the software makers do not allow to control it using switches during the installation as in case with the Sun Java VM). Guess it's just a bug they do not want to fix.
  21. Itanium, you are welcome! It's very strange for me as I read this topic why people start searching for some tricky ways of alternative installation like switchless installers etc. without trying to find an easy and natural way first. In fact iTunes is very easy to install for instance (after you spend a day or two trying to find out how to do it ). The same thing is with the Acrobat Reader. One shouldn't do anything to the file downloaded from the Adobe's site but to install it as shown in my previous message.
  22. That's how I install it and mind you it works! No switchless installers needed! 23. Hello all, hello Bâshrat! I'm the guy that found how to install iTunes using switches, remember me? But now I ask you, the Sound Driver Guru! I've bought ASUS P4GPL-X motherboard the other day and frankly was very impressed by the integrated sound card there (guess they call it Azalia). Of course it's not my dad's AudioTrak Prodigy 7.1 but it's amazing especially if you compare it to my previous Creative SB Live 5.1 But i got completely lost trying to make heads and tails of it, please explain me how it all works. I think one has to put both the Microsoft and Realtek drivers in the \$OEM$\$1\DRIVERS folder. On Installing Devices stage Windows Setup takes drivers from there. But I can't install the Realtek drivers without the Microsoft drivers. So I just put them both in the same folder and it installs okay. Well, the Microsoft drivers work alone, but they are soooo lousy! The sound in games is awful, so I just HAVE TO install the Realtek drivers. And there are two problems about it, the first, the Realtek drivers get installed right into my WINDOWS directory and it's a mess, and the secound, they are about 20 Megabytes for God's Sake! Is there a way to shrink it? So, as you understood, I have the drivers installed automatically, but I'm not quite satisfied with the two aspects. I could download your driver pack, but as I'm not familiar with the new hardware, I don't even know if it supports my card... Sorry for starting a silly topic, and thank you for help! I need an optimum way for my iTunes and Pink Floyd!
  24. MICROSOFTANTISPYWAREINSTALL.EXE -S -V"/QN" "%PROGRAMFILES%\MICROSOFT ANTISPYWARE\GCASDTSERV.EXE" /REGSERVER DEL /S "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\DESKTOP\MICROSOFT ANTISPYWARE.LNK"That not the WPI script of course, and I'm unfamiliar with it at all but think you've got it that one has to do one more step to make this piece of work up and running. Hope M$ will get the bug fixed in the final version. Here's more about it Search button Rules!!!
