look for an IE6 UA switcher. That might help spoofing pages into thinking that youre not using ie6. http://www.enhanceie.com/ietoys/uapick.asp

why do you want to use IE6. Better question is why do you want to get a virus, trojan, botnet, or something so bad that renders the computer unusable?
Im using it because I just want to see how far I can get with it... its not like I would use that as a main browser, just a fun project that I want to work on.

UPDATE: Meh. cant find anything. I did not install anything special to make this happen... I just found something on the computer... perhaps residue from an IE6 installation...this hard drive it was on was sadly wiped.
Alright, its fine. The only reason Im doing this is just to see how much progress I can make with the old browser.

Another question: Is there something I can download that will just simply allow the browser to load CSS3? and or html5? I want to see how far I can go improving the original engine. And thanks for taking the time to reply!

Use Chrome Frame; literally convert internet explorer 6 into Google Chrome.
https://archive.org/details/ChromeFrameArchive01It's a bit dated (February 1, 2014) and runs on Chrome 32.0.1700.107, but should be a big step up from IE6
how does it work? sorry im a noob. So does it keep ie6 looking the same? Or does it completely change the look of everything inside the browser?

Is it at all possible to modernize (make more compatible for browsing) internet explorer 6? After doing a bit of research on msfn I found a few helpful things:
1. disable active scripting
2. disable TLS 3.0 and 2.0 and enable 1.0 (HELPED A TON!)
Is there anything else I can possibly do? Huge thanks to those who reply.

I just tried and while it started faster it still crashes anytime you try to enter text into the browser. I could not respond to this using Basilisk for example without knowing it will crash. I can say it took about 10 seconds longer to crash but the crash was the same.

I think I might know whats going on. But first I need to ask a few questions:
1. r u using physical hardware or a vm for windows xp?
2. if so how old is the hard drive?
3. how much memory does it say ur using in task manager?
My problem was that the hard drive was 11 years old and also had a broken copy of xp home on it. I bought a new hdd recently and reinstalled xp and everything is working awesome.

the problem is fixed. The reason it wasnt working was because the copy of xp home i was using was broken. Im now using a different hard drive

i guess Im going back to NewMoon, i like the look of it alot better than the basilisk browser. Although there is a problem. Unlike basilisk, NewMoon will never let me post on this page, or any page for that matter. it will just stay on the loading screen and never change... Anyone else have this problem?

hey, by "weirdly sized buttons" I mean the buttons in the top right, as in (exit, minimize etc.) the buttons are bigger than the default windows xp size. Also, what I mean by automatic updates is that you would get a notification but u could choose whether to install it or not. And if u choose "no" then u can always go into the settings and there will be a list of all the updates u have missed and can then install if u want. just an idea.

actually one more suggestion:
-create ur own website designated towards updating people on new things. Kind of like this page but just more organized

just wanted to ask if it were possible that u could:
1. make NewMoon update automatically
2. make NewMoon a program that actually gets installed on a computer, not a 7z file that has to be extracted.
3. ditch the weirdly sized window buttons in ur latest build
anyway keep up the great work! I, along with tons of other people, really appreciate the work that u have put into this browser.

@roytam1 why not just make it a zip file?
