  1. I've just downloaded the DX9 to my flash drive. Thanks. Now exploring pale moon and trying to find some information on iTunes.
  2. Update after downloaded DX9 http://i58.tinypic.com/2wg62wz.png
  3. http://i62.tinypic.com/33w9ohl.png This is wall I have on my USB drive for the machine at the moment. 7z920 installation is on there as well... Let me know what you think thus far. I got the full firefox setup as well. Downloading the DirectX now,.
  4. Sure, Firefox 29 (or even 39, lol ) and the latest flash player will work just fine. Just make sure to download the full version of the setup file, and run it in the Application Compatibility Launcher from the start menu, otherwise setup will complain that you're using an unsupported OS. Java 8 will also work, and so will Mozilla Thunderbird if you use that. There's also an unofficial 2010 release of DirectX 9.0c ported from XP, so if you're the gamer type, you might have some success with that too. Can you go into depth on these two that I underlined? Sorry for the barrage of questions... learning is fuuuun
  5. This is weird. I downloaded the file on drive. http://i60.tinypic.com/157g23a.png
  6. It's on the google drive page. 5th from bottom of list.
  7. Parts are not in. Probably later this week. It's getting formatted with NTFS on my Windows 7 machine. I unchecked quick format. No big deal, I'm sure it will be finished when I come in tomorrow morning. " Install Update Rollup 2 - : http://www.mediafire...up2-x86-ENU.exe - Install Unofficial Update Rollup (For now I'm using the January 3rd, 2014 release, since I've been having issues with the current (?) November 30th, 2014 release) - : Can be found in Tomasz86's download archive: https://drive.google...y13dTlXOWs#list" So I install both of these? I assume I install the bottom one first? And did you mean the January 4th release?
  8. Formatting this drive looks like its going to be 6 hours or so lol
  9. Do I install those 2 WU files in that order? Does it matter?
  10. So in theory USP5.2 would be a one stop all of the above replacement for the rollouts and stuff? Like one install for everything?
  11. Is this the thread I'm looking for? http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/151663-windows-2000-unofficial-updates/page-4
  12. I managed to get a wireless card to function on an older rig in here with a pentium III... specs of the machine are low, though great for the time period I'm sure, but it worked. It was a wireless B card I believe... very outdated. One giant antenna. I'll look for the user you mention's WIC download. What exactly is windows imaging component?
  13. Oh and another question... Are you aware of any 802.11AC wireless card that will function with W2K?
  14. So... plug my hard drive up to another computer before install W2K on it and format as NTFS? I'm going to look for the thread to get Windows Update to work... is WU necessary? "Install my custom msgina.dll, explorer.exe, and shell32.dll and ntoskrnl.exe from recovery console" I need further explanation on this. What is WIC? is a user account not set up when installing W2K?
  15. I've gone ahead and downloaded all the drivers and BIOS update for my board in advance... That being said, what's the first thing I should install afterwards? I'd like to know what order they should be installed in as well... And links to the specified software would be nice, but I will try to find them on my own if you guys don't have them handy. I'm reading a lot of information.
  16. I'll check that out when I get the chance... Does palemoon support Firefox extensions? Will it support Unity Web Player? Anways, I just ordered parts. As follows; Intel D945GTP Motherboard, Micro ATX Pentium 4 HT 672 Prescott @ 3.8GHz 4GB (4x1GB) PC5300 DDR2 667MHz EVGA nvidia GeForce 7950 GT, 512MB GDDR3 SATA Seagate Barracuda 500GB HDD, year of manufacture 2013 Windows 2000 Professional SP4 New/Sealed CD + License Antec VSK-3000E Mini Tower Intel Inside Pentium 4 HT case badge Designed for Windows 2000 professional / Windows 98 case badge I'm sure I have a functional SATA DVD writer lying around, and I might pull a 3.5" floppy drive from one of the older computers to put into this one. The board I won on eBay comes with 4GB of DDR2 444Mhz (4x1GB) that I'm replacing with 667MHz DDR2, and also comes with a Pentium 4 541 @ 3.20GHz that I'm replacing with the pentium 4 HT I mentioned above, if anyone is interested.
  17. If your prescott runs well then I'm sure mine will as well. (When I order it, lol!) I believe ours can even run Windows 8 and Windows 10. As far as I know only the hyperthreaded P4's are able to comfortably run either of those OS's. I'm mostly just concerned about software. If what you say is true and I can really get Firefox 29 and flash player, I will be REALLY stoked.
  18. http://www.ebay.com/itm/281736292281?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AITThis is the board I'm looking at... it's coming with a 3.2GHz P4 and 4GB of ram but I'm swapping both the CPU and ram out. Don't need it, I just want the board.
  19. No kidding. lol! I wanna say it's the best and final single core CPU Intel had to offer, but I don't know any better.
  20. Interesting information. Thank you. I think I'll be going with Open Office on the build. I plan on shooting for one of the later Pentium 4's, a Prescott model. 672 Hyperthreaded @ 3.8GHz
  21. That's a good idea, OpenOffice is great software. I'm not sure why I didn't think of it but I'm happy that it's latest works on Windows 2000.
  22. The only reason why I said office 2007 is because I don't have a 2003 key and installation around. Thanks for the advice though, ill be revisiting this thread in days to come.
  23. Hi, first of all I'm new here, so hi, my name's Jesse. I've recently taken on the interest of building a computer that in my eyes is vintage. A lot of the components will be from around 2005, but my OS will be Windows 2000. Planned specs: Pentium 4 CPU, probably the later hyperthreaded version 4GB RAM DDR2 (Or 3.5 technically, whatever W2K will recognize.) GeForce 7950 GT 512MB GDDR3 500GB HDD (I believe W2K Service Pack 4 natively supports a drive of this size) Some sound blaster sound card may be added later. This is going to be an open bench computer. I did the research of all of these components already and they all have drivers available from manufacturers' websites for W2K. Anyways, I need some advice. I want to make this computer as functional as possible. I plan on getting the unofficial service pack 5 installed already, as well as office 2007. However, I would like: The best browser that still will work on W2K. A later version of itunes, preferably with support for iPhone. Best available version of adobe flash player that will run. Any other software you guys would recommend. Like I said, I am looking to make this computer as functional as possible when compared to a modern computer, but with the vintage feel of an older operating system and hardware. Thank you so much.
