  1. my batch file never stops on programs I've compressed with winrar, even with the start /wait commands, it just keeps on trucking right through, and so my winrar'ed programs (office 2003, VCE GH and VCE MSTI) dont get fully installed before the reboot. is there any way other than sleep to get this working? perhaps winzip or another compression program? my batch file is attached, and the Office2003.exe contains office, frontpage, and another batch that gets executed to do an unattended install of both. thanks start.cmd
  2. use Hex Workshop to open the .bin file, then scroll down to the bottom, and work your way up. I'm still looking for it, but it should be here somewhere. Also, note that in all likeliness, it will have to be the exact same length as the original message edit: please let me know if you find it, I haven't, and I'm giving up for the night...
  3. can you please upload AT.exe from your \system32 folder (I think this is where it should be)? I seem to have removed it. Thanks!
  4. bah...i have referred myself to the post above mine (here). mod pleae delete
  5. can I make a suggestion? Go with SP2, then use nlite (there must be a dozen links around for it) to remove the firewall and security center crap. You get the updates without the bullcr@p I've never had a single issue with this method.
  6. I must be mistaken then about what that says. odd, running xp here and it runs just fine from the command line Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600] (C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp. C:\Documents and Settings\Amp>bootcfg Boot Loader Settings -------------------- timeout: 30 default: multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS Boot Entries ------------ Boot entry ID: 1 Friendly Name: "Microsoft Windows XP Professional (bootscreen)" Path: multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS OS Load Options: /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /KERNEL=kernel1.exe Boot entry ID: 2 Friendly Name: "Microsoft Windows XP Professional" Path: multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS OS Load Options: /noexecute=optin /fastdetect (it gives me the option to load my custom boot screen or not, I'll get rid of it...eventually)
  7. alright, thanks. I'm going to give it a shot without those registry entries, only because I have already burned 3 cds for this, but if that doesn't work, I'll just manually install the printer for now, and look up those reg entries so I can add 'em.
  8. yeah, but that's after 7zip, I'm talking about source. Anyways, I did some crazy crap and copied the frontpage 2003 folder into the office 2003 folder, here's the result (for anyone interested): Office: 135mb (after shrink script) FrontPage: 354mb Office+FrontPage: 425mb then all you need to do is create a simple batch file with the commands, rar sfx it, and set that to extract to a temp folder and execute the batch. final size (winrar sfx): 192mb (which fits on my cd with 16mb to spare!)
  9. Should this work with Frontpage 2003, or are there any similar tools for frontpage? Having trouble, I tried running this script on it, but it quit after a few moments, and the installer reported an error (corrupted files, I think, it ran fine without the script), and my O2k3 SP1 is @135mb, frontpage2k3 SP1 alone is 354mb note: I do not use frontpage myself, I realize how absolutely terrible it is. this cd is for a lab in a building where a frontpage-based web design class is taught.
  10. one last quick thing...I used nlite, so I currently have [Unattended] FileSystem= * does that have to be changed or removed at all?
  11. Nope! Not in the least. What I understand is this: is how it's done (from the page he linked to), and i think I can figure out how to modify it to work with my printer...if not, expect another post in here on tuesday edit: tried it, and according to everything I can find, it should work, once it's run on a computer that can actually access the printer, but for the moment, it doesn't create the port (MS says this is because it can't find the printer).
  12. alright, thanks...now just need someone who knows about the printer
  13. thanks....I actually emailed firstclass tech support, and they told me that FC8 doesn't rely on reg entries at all, so you could simply create a winrar sfx and extract the contents of the program files directory (or now, as I find out, just fcc32.exe), then create the shortcuts in the $Docs folder. Haven't confirmed if either method works yet, will tomorrow
  14. I'm not really sure where this should go, but I'm having issues with unattended instalation of a network printer, and HP LaserJet 5. The problem is, this is not shared like \\share\printer, but it's connected directly to the network, and is identified by IP_xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx. Does anyone know how to set this up? also (just to save posting another topic), I would like for my CD to automatically quick format the entire hard drive with the NTFS file system, how can I do that?
  15. Anyone know how to get this (the client version) to work unattended? It appears to be InstallShield, but the setup.iss in the same directory still gives me setup screens. The client can be downloaded (completely legally) from here. I have already tried searching the website to no avail
  16. edit: wow, I'm a terrible dumba**. I'm trying to use the source files instead of the admin install point that definately could help
  17. How are you guys getting it down that small? I've got Office 2003 pro, I set it up to install only Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. The ORK at that point showed the final size should be 198 megs, but my install source, even after running the auto-it script and removing the MSIs and installers for word, etc, is still around 320mb. Am I missing something? Perhaps buried within this 27-page thread?
