hi all, how can i call the winnt.sif from the A: drive in winxp sp2 I'm sick of using CD's for my installs so i've decided to call all my apps from a usb harddrive and use a floppy drive to call the rununceex from there. but i would like to call the winnt.sif from the floppy drive aswell... i've tried to edit the winnt.bat to direct it to the floppy drive but this does not seem to work. any ideas would be great. .thanks amd64

@Alanoll You have given me the code that reads Should it not read REG ADD %KEY%\001 /VE /D "BitComet" /f REG ADD %KEY%\001 /V 1 /D "%CDROM%\Apps\Bit_Comet\bitcomet.exe /S" /f REG ADD %KEY%\001 /V 2 /D "CMD.EXE /C %RD /S /Q \"%Systemdrive%\Program Files\BitComet\fav\"" /f REG ADD %KEY%\001 /V 3 /D "CMD.EXE /C %XCOPY /S \"%CDROM%\Apps\Bit_Comet\fav\" "\%Systemdrive%\Program Files\BitComet\fav\"" /f or am i right in saying that you create a new %KEY% for each entry?
-
cheers ppl, @SiMoNsAyS I was using the %CDROM% variable and it worked fine. But Alanoll's way sounds a lot better. This method has not been mentioned in the Unattended guide!!! (i think) think i'll go give it a try! cheers ppl

Sample of one of my .cmd files (Install_BitComet_Favorites.cmd) TITLE BitComet Favorites Installation...... @Echo Off IF EXIST D:\CD.txt set CDROM=D: IF EXIST E:\CD.txt set CDROM=E: IF EXIST F:\CD.txt set CDROM=F: IF EXIST G:\CD.txt set CDROM=G: IF EXIST H:\CD.txt set CDROM=H: IF EXIST I:\CD.txt set CDROM=I: IF EXIST J:\CD.txt set CDROM=J: CLS COLOR 0A ECHO. ECHO. ECHO Installing BitComet Favorites... ECHO Please Wait... RD /S /Q "%Systemdrive%\Program Files\BitComet\fav" XCOPY /S "%CDROM%\Apps\Bit_Comet\fav" "%Systemdrive%\Program Files\BitComet\fav\" ECHO Done! EXIT and using it like this REG ADD %KEY%\001 /VE /D "BitCommet Favorites" /f REG ADD %KEY%\001 /V 1 /D "%CDROM%\Apps\Bit_Comet\bitcomet.exe /S" /f REG ADD %KEY%\001 /V 2 /D "%CDROM%\CMDS\Install_BitComet_Favorites.cmd" /f

Hi, I was wondering if one of you clever ppl could tell me if this kind of setup in RunOnceEX.cmd would work. (before i go and try it) What i would like to know is will the batches of install files halt untill they are finished or will it continue to the next one using these commands? SET KEY=HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx REG ADD %KEY% /V TITLE /D "Unattended instalation - Applications..." /f REG ADD %KEY%\001 /VE /D "BitCommet" /f REG ADD %KEY%\001 /V 1 /D "%CDROM%\Apps\Bit_Comet\bitcomet.exe /S" /f RD /S /Q "%Systemdrive%\Program Files\BitComet\fav" XCOPY /S "%CDROM%\Apps\Bit_Comet\fav" "%Systemdrive%\Program Files\BitComet\fav\" REG ADD %KEY%\003 /VE /D "InCD" /f REG ADD %KEY%\003 /V 1 /D "%CDROM%\Apps\InCD\Setup.exe /SILENT /NOREBOOT" /f REG ADD %KEY%\005 /VE /D "System Info Tool" /f XCOPY /S "%CDROM%\Apps\SystemInfoTool" "%Systemdrive%\Program Files\SystemInfoTool\" COPY "%CDROM%\Links\System Info Tool.lnk" "%AllUsersProfile%\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\System Tools\" or am I better of using a bunch of .cmd files? thanks amd64

XP and Multiple Yet Differant Computers
amd64 replied to NicolausUsry's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
I dont think it's a good idea to use windows xp for those spec computers, they will probebly grind to a halt after a couple of weeks. You might be better off using windows ME or 98SE then setup 1 computer and do a ghost. Windows ME and 98SE are not that fussy about Ghosting to different spec computers, as long as you have the drivers. If it's for accademic purposes Microsoft are quite resonable about volume licencing. -
hmmm... a little typo error. lol ..... the RunOnceEX.cmd part of the file should read: REG ADD %KEY%\003 /VE /D "Microsoft AutoRoute 2004" /f REG ADD %KEY%\003 /V 1 /D "%CDROM%\Apps\AutoRoute\Setup_AR.exe" /f REG ADD %KEY%\003 /V 2 /D "%CDROM%\CMDS\Install_AutoRoute_Runtime.cmd" /f Do apologise for that amd64

Hi this might be of use to ppl, after a lot of head scratching, i have found a way to unattend install Autoroute 2004 and its runtime files. Please see the attached .txt file for details. Thanks amd64 AutoRoute.txt

just wondering how you would set the cdrom variable in icemanND's install.exe. I would like to use the old way of " IF EXIST D:\CD.txt set CDROM=D:" this method has served me well and i like it, it may be simple but it works. But it dont seem to work in the .INI, I keep geting an error saying "an error was found in INI file at line 34, script must end. cheers amd64

is it possable to intergrate drivers into the "Drivers.cab" or "SP2.cab" asuming that the new drivers dont match the existing ones. And if it is possable how do you merge files into the .cab's? If this is possable woulden't it save a lot of time and headaches. I know this may be a silly ? for most of you but I'm sorta new to this. Please excuse my typo, I have dyslexia.

hi, I have just done an install using your upated driverpacks. It seems that the drivers you are using for "5788 Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit" are different from mine. The ones I have are as follows: "B57XP32.CAT" "B57XP32.INF" "B57XP32.SYS". Also the VIAaudio drivers don't work either, the drivers i have are as follows: "A3d.dll" "viacomp.inf" "viaudios.inf" "VIAUDOEM.INF" "crlds3d.dll" "viaudios.cat" "viaudios.sys". These drivers dont need the controll panel to work. For referance I am using an Acer Aspire 1500 AMD64,3000+ Laptop. Hope this helps. If you would like these files "ask me" and i will send them to you.
-
hi, would it be possable to include "Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit" drivers. Thanks Keep up the good work P.S. a graphics driver pack would be nice never mind i should look before i post .... you have already done them ...

ooops ... silly me I have now found how to do it. MSFN lol....

Hi All, Ok it may just be me, but when i'm browsing threw the forums I find that there is no way to gat back to the index page (http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php). It would be nice if you could put a index home link in the tool bar beside, "Help" "Search" "Members" "Calendar". Mabee you could call it "Fourm Home" Or "Topics Index". This would stop me having to use the "open in new page" syndrome. Thanks
