  1. Hey, I need a little help. I took the text file on the first page, deleted most items I did not want and changed some to the way I wanted it and put it to run at T-12 (as ppl out here say) Came up with two little problems, which may or maynot be related to the tweaks, but maybe the seniors out here would know better than me! 1) When I change my Visual Style (after the entire setup ... I mean its not incorporated into my CD), I do not get those background picture in my folder. Here, I mean the picture one see on the right hand corner of a music or picture folder ... you know, the musical note or photo/ camera picture, which is included in the shellstyle. Would it be that I switched something off when applying the tweaks? 2) I used the entry to activate the Quicklaunch bar (applied it at T-12) and yes, it gets activated! ... no problem there. My problem is that this Quicklaunch toolbar does not include the "Show Desktop" icon and there is no way I could find the .scf file either. Will really appreciate help on this! Cheers!
  2. Oh! one other thing. Does the Information Bar talked about here: refer to that yellow strip that appears in IE with SP2, the one which gives messages like 'Macromedia Required' or something like that? Isn't that important? I mean, without that info, how would one know why things don't work the way we expect it to?Cheers
  3. Hey, thanks for that. Really appreciate it! Just made my iso now for the first time and will be testing it in the weekend! Cheers .... now I'll start poking my nose into the runonce... stuff!
  4. Couple of question. On Page 13, Toecutter mentioned: Does this mean that if I put the following the in "cmdlines.txt", the .NET 1.1 will not install (I've slipstreamed SP2)? [COMMANDS] "REGEDIT /S xp_cd.reg" ".\install\dotnetfx.exe" Also, in the "cmdlines.txt" do I have to put the line "REGEDIT /S xp_cd.reg" before or after ".\install\dotnetfx.exe"? and finally, If I put stuff in the .\$OEM$\Install folder will it autoinstall if no reference is put in the "cmdlines.txt" file? I do not want to install some files ... just keep it on the CD. Will really appreciate some help on this. Cheers
  5. Ah! yes .. thats the one I meant! Thanks! Edit... The last thing mentioned about putting the line so that it does not appear twice ... would it be possible to do the converse... I mean, Put it in there only if it does not exist? Now, it puts it in and takes out whats there originally. Can it be put in only if the "Open With >" is not available only?
  6. Would there be one to have "Open With ... " for every file on right click? Thanks
  7. Didn't help! I tried dd/MM - H:mm:ss and got some funny dd/24 - 9:24Am and then I realized that "M" is used for both Minute and Month! So, because of the clash, its either not possible or there should be a way of putting "sShortDate - H:mm:ss" .... Incidentally, I tried that and it did not work! Cheers
  8. Yeah, there must be a way, cause on another site, I saw: I tried it and yes, it does work.... This being the case, its only a matter of displaying just the "DD" and when the Taskbar is standard and not doubled. Sure hope someone can help! Cheers
  9. Well... Not exactly what I was looking for! I wanted a registery entry that would put a date in the systray. Something like Date (Format I choose)+ Time (Format I choose). Don't like having tons of programs run on startup and all ... just for a couple of basic fancy requirements! Cheers BTW. that time format looks nice! Wonder if its possible with plain old XP
  10. Hi, Am not too conversant with tweaks, nlite and all, but I did make a valiant effort to make an unattended XP SP2 Cd. Ended up with the following problems and will appreciate if someone can help me sort it out so that I can make a final CD that rectifies the problems I faced as the novice I am! 1) Inspite of having entered my CD Key & name and inspite of having chosen Unattended Support, I ended up with a screen asking me to enter the CD Key. 2) Once I got through the install (after entering the CD Key) and after restart, XP asked me to enter my name and names of more users if I wished to. Upon entering just my name, XP promptly created an user with my name, while also having another user by the name "Administrator". Why the two users? Does it have anything to do with having played with the registry ... I mean using the registry tweak as suggested? Now that there are two users, I tried but can't get rid of the guy called "Administrator" ... andy suggestion? Also, any suggestions how I can make it so that it does not happen next time? 3) While using nlite, I choose my language as English (United Kingdom). Does this change the keyboard layout too? I mean, I now have the problem that my "@" sign has been replaced by the "Sterling" sign and my ' " ' (quote) sign has changed to "@" and other such changes 4) In nlite, I had shown Windows Messenger the exit and upon completion of the XP install, had msn 6.2 installed. When trying to save my signin name "name@hotmail.com" and password, I get a baloon asking me to use the format "name\domain.com" and a couple of choices. It does not allow me to save the name@hotmail.com. Infact, if the "Remember" box is checked, it does not login at all and shows the earlier said balloon. Uncheck it and the sign goes smoothly. Did I disable some service that was suppossed to be automatic? Really will appreciate help from you folks! Cheers
  11. Hi, First post here ... didn't know what to or rather how to search for a solution and hence this Is there some kind of registry entry that is there that would enable me to see the date in the sytem tray, beside the time? Like 05 10:35Am, where the 05 is todays date. Hope there is something like that! Cheers!
