Can anyone tell me how to get text glow without using a Custom theme resources file because they don't work with my Custom theme.
Are there any Custom text glow files that can be used with TextGlowMode settings.TextGlowMode settings i have used are from 1 to 3 and still no text glow on my Custom theme.
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM]"TextGlowMode"=dword:00000001[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\DWM]"TextGlowMode"=dword:00000001
Update:
Downloaded a glow.bmp file, but it didn't work because aero glass w8.1-1.1 does not support glow.bmp.
Looks like i need to make a CustomThemeAtlas for my Custom theme, i think i will just forget about text glow for this theme.

BlindMango this can help with black box Problem WHEN you get transparency.
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM]"TextGlowMode"=dword:00000001[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\DWM]"TextGlowMode"=dword:00000001
Try from number 1 to 3

Updated:
Blurred Taskbar when using Aero Glass for Win8.1 without ANY 3rd PARTY TOOLS.
Basic Idea:
0.Install Take Ownership.
1.Goto C:\Windows\Resources and Take Ownership of Themes folder, now copy Themes folder to desktop.
2.Open Themes folder and rename
aero (folder) TO aero2
aero (.theme) TO aero2
theme1 (.theme) TO theme3
theme2 (.theme) TO theme4
3.Open
aero2 (.theme)
theme3 (.theme)
theme4 (.theme)
With Notepad and find [VisualStyles] / Path=%ResourceDir%\Themes\Aero\Aero.msstyles and change IT TO Path=%ResourceDir%\Themes\Aero2\Aerolite.msstyles
4.Open aero2 folder and delete VSCache folder
5.Open aero2 folder and delete aerolite.msstyles, now rename aero.msstyles TO aerolite.msstyles
6.Open aero2/en-US folder and delete aerolite.msstyles.mui, now rename aero.msstyles.mui TO aerolite.msstyles.mui
7.Copy Themes folder from desktop TO C:\Windows\Resources, Now select a Default Theme, Than select a Theme with a Blurred Taskbar.
FOR 3rd PARTY THEMES:
I will use Soft8 VS by neiio for this example:
Download:
http://neiio.deviantart.com/art/Soft8-VS-380281415
There will be a Soft8 folder and a Soft8.theme.
1.Open Soft8.theme with Notepad and find [VisualStyles] / Path=%SystemRoot%\resources\Themes\Soft8\Soft8.msstyles and change Soft8.msstyles TO aerolite.msstyles
2.Open Soft8 folder and rename Soft8.msstyles TO aerolite.msstyles
3.Copy Soft8 folder and Soft8.theme TO C:\Windows\Resources\Themes
4.Now select a Default Theme, Than you can select Soft8 Theme and have a Blurred Taskbar.
NOTES:FOR Text Glow Read:

Text Glow Regedit Settings:Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM]"TextGlowMode"=dword:00000003[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\DWM]"TextGlowMode"=dword:00000003
BEST TO DELETE ANY VSCache FOLDERS, THIS IS FOR Modded Default and 3rd PARTY THEMES.

There is a simple trick with theme file name. Some place contains condition whether your theme is aero or is not. In this situation, when filename is aerolite.msstyles then taskbar will be blurred.
Yes thats the basic idea.

I have found away to enable Taskbar blur without using StartIsBack and Classic Shell OR any other 3rd party tools, when using w8.1-1.1 DWMGlass.dll and a little theme trick, I will post my finding soon after some more testing.

i have auto change background enabled.
Even thou I have set active color and in active color, every time the background changes, the color that i set will change as well.
its not a complain, but is there a way to prevent it?
Open Personalize/Color and change Automatic setting to something else, and then set active color and in active color.
NOTES:
You may need to goto %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Themes and open the Custom theme with Notepad and find [VisualStyles] and change AutoColorization=1 TO AutoColorization=0 AND you may need to add your color number to ColorizationColor=

I'd love it if I could have the text there without the background instead of nothing at all.

P.S. A small question: how to make AeroGlass more "transparent" but keep automatic theme color?
You can edit BlurDeviation.
No Blur Example:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM]"BlurDeviation"=dword:00000000[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\DWM]"BlurDeviation"=dword:00000000

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM]"TextGlowMode"=dword:00000001"CustomThemeAtlas"="C:\\AeroGlass\\win8cp.png"[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\DWM]"TextGlowMode"=dword:00000001"CustomThemeAtlas"="C:\\AeroGlass\\win8cp.png"
Info update:
The symbols i am using:

Symbols downloaded using:
http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/163570-aero-glass-for-win81-rtm-rc3/page-16#entry1058721I have no black box problem.
Info update:
Using the aerohost method, and NOT using a 3rd party theme, just using a themeatlas file.
Info update:
Tested 3rd party theme (Soft8 VS by neiio):
Settings: (working fine)Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM]"TextGlowMode"=dword:00000003"CustomThemeAtlas"=""[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\DWM]"TextGlowMode"=dword:00000003"CustomThemeAtlas"=""

how can one restart or stop glass8 without logging off? task scheduler does not actually stop it, and taskkill says aerohost.exe is not running so i can't kill it that way
TO RESTART AERO GLASS:
Task Manager / Details and end dwm.exe
TO STOP AERO GLASS:
Task Manager / Processes and end Aero Glass extension for Desktop. Than GOTO Task Manager / Details and end dwm.exe
NOTES:
This is for aerohost.exe Method.
To restart aero glass after using STOP AERO GLASS You can just start the task in Task scheduler.
Thanks BM for the corrections.

Of course, both values will work but it's not limited to this range only.
Ok Thanks, so what is the range / limited range .

BlurDeviation is not from 0 to 100 and there is no reason to set this settings in registry if he does not want to change amount of the blur. And setting it to 30 has absolutely no sense.
0 TO 100 works for me
0 Gives me full clear Transparency.
100 Gives Total Blur.
http://glass8.berlios.de/guide.html
BlurDeviation DWORD Standard deviation for Gaussian blur, default = 30 (which means σ = 3.0) <- Confusing
Value 0 results in non-blurred transparency.

I want it to be so:
With OpaqueTaskbar turns:
Without OpaqueTaskbar turns:
1.Install StartIsBack Plus and select Disable start menu translucency and Disable taskbar translucency.
2.Use regedit settings:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM]"BlurDeviation"=dword:00000030[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\DWM]"BlurDeviation"=dword:00000030
3.Settings for BlurDeviation are from 0 TO 100, Default is 30

The only way i have solved this problem was to download a 3rd party theme with the glow built in, like Soft8 VS Theme.
