  1. ace: if you mean a tool which simply switches blur on/off and leaves pure transparency then I think it would make no sense. You still need to hook DWM to handle occlusion correctly thus you will again end up with DWMGlass.dll ;-) Now, you can simply make a script which changes BlurDeviation settings and then send WM_THEMECHANGED message to DWM Window.

Would this script, which changes BlurDeviation settings and then send WM_THEMECHANGED message to DWM Window, give stable pure transparency ?

I would not know how to make / write a script like this, Bigmuscle would you be able to make / write and post this script for me Please. :w00t:

  2. Bigmuscle would it be Possible to make stand alone tool like Taskbar Blur Toggle 0.2.0 & Opaque Taskbar for Windows 8.1.

NOT TO REMOVE BLUR, AS THERE IS NO BLUR, BUT ONLY TO DISABLE / ENABLE the color (opaque) IN Title bars. B)

Isn't this already part of OldNewExplorer under transparent heading?

No thats some thing totally different, and you still need DWMGlass for it to work.

    NOTES:

I think Taskbar Blur Toggle 0.2.0 & Opaque Taskbar, disables color (opaque) on the taskbar, which make Taskbar have a Glass effect without Blur.

SO IF A Titlebar Blur Toggle TOOL was MADE, would it make Titlebars have a Glass effect without Blur ??????????

Taskbar Blur Toggle with NO DWMGlass and Start Menu and Taskbar translucency DISABLED in StartIsBack.

  3. Little trick to hide start button on taskbar when using StartIsBack. (Just for FUN) :P

1.Resize ANY Bitmap image file to 1x1.

2.COPY Resized Bitmap image file to C:\Program Files (x86)\StartIsBack\Orbs.

3.Open StartIsBack configuration / Appearance and Select Resized Bitmap image from start Orb bar and Apply.

    NOTES:

The Resized Bitmap image file will be Transparent ON the start Orb bar.

You can select Start Menu from TOP LEFT, VERY END, of Taskbar.

Would not be much of a challenge, now info on how to is Posted. :w00t:

You could use Windows key (FLAG KEY) on your KEYBOARD as well.

  6. @ace2--

I installed glass shiny atlas resource with no problems. I actually have three different .png files I can choose. I also use the AeroGlassGUI.exe, and am able to add color to windows labels, and do other stuff like adjust blur, etc.

glass shiny atlas resource works great with Default theme, But does not work well at all with custom themes. ;)

  7. ahh f***ing forum cant upload image to see...

but I followed your instructions, debug symbols and etc s***s.

result is Your DWM is incompatible with aero glass

    YOU NEED

    Win8.1 v1.2.1

    installer 32-bit + 64-bit Windows

IMPORTANT Regedit Setup: IS NOT NEEDED WHEN USING aerohost.exe OR installer 32-bit + 64-bit Windows

    HOW:

1.Install sdk, then use symbols.cmd to DOWNLOAD symbols.

    2.Use installer 32-bit + 64-bit Windows (Win8.1 v1.2.1)

DON'T Install glass shiny atlas resource

    Restart PC

    NOTES:

When using installer 32-bit + 64-bit Windows, DON'T Install glass shiny atlas resource, IT'S for Default Themes.

    USE THIS CMD IF USING Windows 8.1 32bit / x86 IN symbols.cmd

    CD C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\8.1\Debuggers\x86
  8. What does the sdk do for me? I feel like the process can be complete without installation of the windows sdk.

So, no regedit is needed if I use aerohost.

Okay, I think I got that. lol

1.Install sdk, it will install file NEEDED to download symbols.

2.Then use symbols.cmd to DOWNLOAD symbols.

3.If using aerohost to load DWMGlass.dll, BEST to use installer 32-bit + 64-bit Windows.

4.Goto C:\AeroGlass folder and delete the CustomThemeAtlas.

    Restart PC

    NOTES:

When using installer 32-bit + 64-bit Windows, " " DON'T Install glass shiny atlas resource when using Custom Themes " " THEN STEP 4 IS NOT NEEDED.

Glass shiny atlas resource IS FOR Default Themes.

  9. I'm here to complain!!!!

I updated to KB2919355 and nothing seems any different!

Aero Glass for Win 8.1 just works perfectly. I don't get to have all the fun troubleshooting that all these other folks have been having.

    I feel so left out.

    :D

SO THE POINT IS READING Aero Glass (DWMGlass.dll) INFO = Perfectly WORKING Aero Glass for Win 8.1 . :P

  10. The best method is to Install updates, then update symbols manually, then restart PC works for me. ;)

How can I download symbols manually?

If I buy a full version, symbols download auto?

    thanks

You can't buy a full version, you can only make a donation, you may OR may not get a license key after a donation, the license key will remove watermark and any popup boxes and download symbols.

    NOTES:

Regedit Setup: IS NOT NEEDED IF you use aerohost.exe to run DWMGlass.dll_Aero Glass 1.2.1

  11. Ex_Brit

    The problem is not updating the DWMGlass.dll, it's the symbols, even with the DWMGlass.dll updated you will still need the symbols, and a updated DWMGlass.dll still may fail after windows 8.1 updates, because DWMGlass.dll needs symbols to keep up with the updated files that run aeroglass. :}
