From what I saw bigmuscle post, the current version won't work on the preview without more modifications.
With the installer being a total *****, I think many are still fighting with it.
I gave up for the time being, if M$ is so set against me installing win8.1, I'll stick to my win7 for a while longer.

Try getting the experimental bits (win8 version) and install that one? It might overwrite the win7 uxstyle files and solve the problem.

Basically, it's another case of a false positive (hence the .generic suffix), but any decent antivirus allows you to add a suspicious program to your exception list if you trust it.

I'd have to agree, I've been having sleep problems on only one PC out of 6 and it turned out to be caused by a logitech keyboard in the end. Funnily enough, the same logitech keyboard doesn't cause the problem on another PC. So it might be a bad combination of hardware components.I think you're looking at some bad hardware or drivers if you can't handle low power states properly. Theres nothing wrong with Windows' sleep/hibernate modes.

Sir I installed aero glass installer could not able to get aero effect though. I tried OP's links earlier. I do not know much about how to apply it. But I have been trying to make it for a couple hours. I watched videos, searched web. Still could not figured it out. What should I do ? I want it so bad

I'm pretty sure he is referring to windows blinds for those who can't wait. But if people keep acting like this, he might as well charge so much.anyone wants to have solution without messagebox he can switch to it ... for $50.are we finally getting to the point

bigmuscle, it might be better to continue testing in a closed circle after all. It might be harder to get a wide range of test systems that way, but at least you won't have to deal with people who can't get into their brains what the purpose of a BETA and TESTing is.

And can't you just re-install the OS from USB? And if not, why did you use this one to test in the first place, especially knowing it might cause a black screen?

Been testing it on my main machine via win8-to-go, works fine for about 4 hours now. Did you change the frequency of the popup? It only seems to be popping up once after boot and that's all. (edit: the moment I posted, another one popped up lol)
Running Snowy v3 here, personally like the theme a lot (except for the red X button).

I restarted a lot for the first few hours, updating etc.
My display driver died once, too, happens with my card on both win7 and win8, so shouldn't be your program's fault.

It's something fixed in the theme, so I don't think there is any way around it except for theme patching. I used the uxstyle (not uxtheme!) with this theme and it works fine. No direct patching of system files.Was it my imagination or did somewhere in the 90 pages it mention a reg item to highlight the titlebar text at some point?
This transparency / blur is lovely, but I can't read the title bar text quite a bit due to stupid MS setting it in black. Would be nice to have the 'glow' effect on the text, or be able to make the text white.
I don't particularly want to run a ThemePatcher and an entire custom theme just to change this, would be magical if this program had the choice of white/black title bar text and/or glow text.

I already wrote it, but it is totally impossible to get transparency without blur. Why? Because there is no such code. Such code was there but it was in some old beta version (which really was incorrectly executed on some video adapters) . Thus if you get transparency without blur than you have this utility incorrectly installed.
If it was incorrectly installed, then wouldn't it not work at all? It's not a big matter anyway, the 8k series' DX10 support was pretty slow and we're better off using DX9 instead. And your utility works fine as it does now.

It is in the case of a 8400GS, it has the same hardware capabilities as my 8600m chip afaik. the 8k series support DX10.0, but your code only works with DX9.3 for me.but be careful to not switch to DX10.1+ or you'll be stuck with a black screen.
This is not the complete truth. If your video adapter supports DX11.1, you will be able to set 11.1 correctly. On the other side, if you adapter does not support anything higher than DX 9.3, it will crash for anything above this version. When this settings is not touched, it starts with the highest possible version and tries until it succeed.
DX10.0 is completely transparent/no blur...

UEFI board but an ancient 8400GS? Something like this exists? o.OHi all.
Is this making anyone elses screen go completely black?
0.8 worked fine, but 0.9.x versions make my screen go completely black for at least 5 to 10 minutes....
My vid card is an nvidia 8400GS.
My board is a UEFI board, but dont think secure boot is an issue as v0.8 worked ok previously, and havent changed anything in BIOS since.
Is there any other info I can post to help troubleshoot this issue.

You could try using AGTweaker and change the DX modes, but be careful to not switch to DX10.1+ or you'll be stuck with a black screen.

Why anyone would use a top/bottom taskbar on a widescreen is still a mystery to me. But apparently too many do that. Even M$ didn't bother checking the fact the charms on win8 block certain functionality when using a vertical taskbar.

I tried those but ColorizationColorBalanceInactive is the only key that allowed me adjust the inactive frame so that the black captions are readable...ColorizationBlurBalanceInactive + ColorizationAfterglowBalanceInactive, both influence the level of the transparency.
Is there a way to get a white blurry outline around the window caption only? Or is that part of the theme?

Of course, that's it. You have set your inactive color to RGB(99, 150, 191) which is some shade of blue. I don't even know why you have double UseNativeBlur, this has no sense.
Is there a way to adjust the inactive frame transparency as well? I'd like to make them less transparent.

It's name might be rainmeter, but it provides much more than a weather widget. Looks like you didn't look into it enough. It supports all sorts of usage/temp/net/playback info an is much easier if you want to script stuff yourself. Otherwise getting a skin you like is not different from installing a gadget...Or switch to Rainmeter.Well, I dont use a weather widget. I have very useful usage meters and temp monitors that are not available on Rainmeter.

It's not intended for everyday use, so there is no way to disable them. Wait for the final version to be released. Which theme is this by the way? Looks pretty nice and the white captions are more readable than the default black ones...

Importing the swatches.reg from 0.9 gives me an "Cannot import swatches.reg: Not all data was successfully written to the registry. Some keys are open by the system or other processes, or you have insufficient privileges to perform this operation". I did give it admin privileges though, glass was not active when I attempted that.
