UxStyle is only for x64. How do I enable the BypassThemeSignature thing Open regedit.exe, browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\DWM make a new key (DWORD) there named BypassThemeSignature and set it value to 1 (to disable it set it to 0).

It seems you were using UltraUxThemePatcher or similar program to have custom themes on your Windows 8. Instead use UxStyle or the BypassThemeSignature Feature in BM's "Aero Glass for Windows 8".

Make sure you installed it properly, try this guide, the path to the DWMGlass.dll should be correctly set in AppInit_Dlls value and restart. You can also try this video for better understanding.

The release is imminent, have a little patience. We have currently testing out the installer and the feedback is positive.

Make sure you have internet connected when logging into your user account, the Hook should find the related symbols from the Microsoft servers and start working again.

Try Troubleshooting Windows Update, go to Control Panel and search for troubleshooting click on the first result, under System and Security you'll see Fix problems with Windows update and click on it, go through the troubleshooter and after a restart try installing those updates again. Hope it fixes your problem!

Wow the final version is working without the need of symbols out of the box, with all updates installed. Hope it is backwards compatible, I'll test it out myself later. The performance is good as the code is now purely optimized for Aero Glass. Thanks once again, bigmuscle!

Both of you, make sure there is internet connectivity when you log-in, RC4 will automatically download debug symbols for the appropriate files and the Aero Glass should start eventually.

Which version are you using because I get blur on all of my taskbars when in a multi-monitor setup..?

I don't use AGTweaker, I set the values manually in the registry. I posted about the Custom Theme Resource a couple of weeks ago, here's the post. BTW I use Custom Themes now, with Uxstyle.

The Custom Theme Resource file might have been accidentally deleted/moved OR the value set in the registry might be invalid.

BTW you didn't include the installer in this build (why?) and will the symbol files downloaded by the last RC work on the new one (seems working)? Here's a quick debug log from the new RC. NetSpeedMonitor, if you are using Windows 8, run the setup in compatibility mode (set to Windows 7).

You need to take ownership of that Registry tree, then only you can edit the values. @bigmuscle: Release another RC before final, so we can test it. We should make sure the final version is as less buggy as possible. and also count me in for private beta testing!

Is it because of UxStyle? I prevously never had this error when I installed it with RC3. Nope, it has nothing to do with ux* something, msstyles theme, bypassing verification etc. It is just because you have set invalid path to your custom theme resource. Oh ****! I accidently deleted my custom theme resource, that was the reason for the error.

Oh, BTW is there any way to disable custom theme support in RC3, as the debug.log is only getting filled with: [0x480] Failed to load custom theme file (0x80070002) I am using UxStyle, so that I don't end up with another black screen. I previously had Uxstyle in my system, I was just testing the custom theme support in RC3, when black screen happened.

When I disabled Aero(RC3) through RegEdit (LoadAppInit_DLLs set to 0) and restarted, I got the black screen. The only way I recovered my laptop was by Refreshing the OS. I was using a custom theme, without any other uxtheme patch or service. Here are my debug.log for that system (Intel HD 3000). Here's debug.log from my other system which is working fine without any problem (nVidia 9500GT).

If you want Aero stripes try this theme Aero 8. As for Flip 3D, bigmuscle can only confirm.

I'm not even sure where this message box comes from. When does it appear? Only when changing theme, or randomly during a day? Its difficult to say when that appears, I just now tried back RP theme and for about a hour I didn't have any error, and then the error appeared. It only happens with RP theme or maybe Microsoft signed themes (can't confirm yet). One thing I noticed was that, the synchronization service starts to use half of my CPU and it only goes down, after some time, when I change the theme to any other custom theme.
