  1. I don't mean that it disables desktop composition, it actually uses the aerolite.msstyles theme with DWM enabled.
  2. On Windows Vista, it would revert to Windows Classic. On Windows 7, it would revert to the Windows 7 Aero theme. I thought that Windows 8 would have this go to the Windows 8 "basic" visual style (the same kind used in the high contrast themes). The reason I say this is because when I had the Windows 8 Enterprise trial in a VM, I did something really sneaky and deleted both the aero.msstyles and aerolite.msstyles, and what Windows 8 did was recreate them in their respective folders (I deleted them in the recovery command prompt, when they weren't loaded) and loaded the basic theme. Why won't Windows 8 do that here? You would think that MS would have wanted more resiliency than that in their OS. So someone just needs to modify the aero.mssyles file, and the computer is broken? And I also wonder why exactly Microsoft is so hell-bent on making Windows restricted to just their themes. Why not just open up msstyles development as a selling point for the OS? After all, it is a personal computer, right?
  3. Maybe, that is the cause: http://support.micro...b/2850674/en-us? Interesting. So some unlucky people might have their computer rendered unbootable by no fault of their own, and there is no fix? (except, of course, a backup image on a whole separate hard drive, which everyone has)
  4. Do you guys know of a way to recover from one of these disasters? Can I get into system recovery options and refresh my pc when it won't boot because of a black screen? Or do I have to get another drive and make a system image?
  5. I would think it belongs to the themecpl.dll as that's where the save dialog is. Your personalization window isn't blurring!
  6. The stupid website is erasing some of our posts.
  7. Here is another video for the whiners about the dialog box: From The Office.
  8. Do you think you can work with Vishal Gupta (http://www.askvg.com/) to port AeroVG 7 theme to Windows 8 and use that?
  9. If you can boot into recovery options, then try refresh your PC. If it's set up, this feature will format the Windows partition of your hard drive and reinstall Windows automatically with no user involvement. Then it will copy your documents back and reinstall your Windows Store apps. Because it's a full restore and resets the desktop, this is a perfectly good (if not a little bit overkill) way to casually uninstall the software as well.
  10. Wow, if I had time would like to count how many posts there are asking for the popup to be removed. I'm not even going to tell you. Go to page 90, 89, 88, or whatever your favorite number is and read Bigmuscle's explanation, either directly from him or echoed by other members. Bigmuscle, it would benefit you and us to include another message in the popup box in future versions: "This popup WILL NOT be removed until the 1.0 release of this software. DO NOT talk about this on the main thread of this utility. If you don't like this popup, then uninstall this and wait until the final release. It will happen soon enough."
  11. I had that exact problem in 0.9. But RC0 fixed that problem on my machine. Man, it was annoying.
  12. I tried the release candidate on my secondary Windows 8 pc, and it couldn't work more perfectly. It feels like I am using Windows 8 RP! Thank you, Bigmuscle. It's amazing how far along this utility has gotten since the preview releases. I have been watching the conversation between you and poor unlucky Tusticles, and it's actually a bit scary. This thing must be integrated very deeply. Be sure to keep the kill-key in the final version. Tusticles has always had problems with this related to performance. I am curious at what his computer configuration is. So I take it once that the Tusticles problem is fixed, it goes on to version 1?
  13. Extract the 7z archive to a folder, for example "C:/DWM", now rgt click on LoadGlass_AppInit_DLLs.reg and select edit, now replace the AppInit_DLLs value as per the location of your extracted files, as per the example "C://DWM//DWMGlass.dll". Save the file and merge it with registry. Restart your computer and Aero Glass should start. Thanks for the reply. =)I tried doing this but the Aero glass doesn't load on reboot, however the version 0.5 with the exe file continues to work. I wonder why this is. Do I need to edit more registry entries than the ones given to get it to work? Thanks. If your Windows 8 has secure boot supported hardware, you need to disable secure boot to get this to work.
  14. Just drop it. You can donate, but he doesn't want this used except for testing purposes. If you want the popup gone, then that means that you are trying to use it against his wishes. For the 764896th time, this is why the popup is there, and that is why the popup isn't going away until the final version. If you don't like it, then just wait until the final version.
  15. For goodness sake, can you use a real website? Skydrive is free, just sayin'. And it doesn't install viruses!
  16. It seems like everybody is getting on the bannedwagon these days.
  17. Ha! You've got it! That's it! And it appears over and over again. I explained milliontimes the reason of the popup message and people were writing again and again about it. I said milliontimes that I don't want to earn any money and people are still writing over and over again that I want to earn money. It is just a bit of comedy bews: that's another point. This text was written in the console window of version 0.1 and 0.2. People say that they will pay for final version, but why they didn't donate when this message was here in the previous versions? Instead they were searching for the way how to remove the window with this information. Interesting... Stop it, Bews. Can we just end it? He denied the fact that he will charge for it. Now let's move on! He is doing us a favor. Why are you returning evil for good? I feel sorry for BigMuscle. Some people on the internet have nothing better to do than accuse bigmuscle and disrespect his intended use of testing versions. Really, people, go get a job, get a life. Get a life! If you just get off the internet and get a job, then that will solve the issue you foresee with him charging for the software. Back on topic, please.
  18. This might be a dumb question, but what is SIB (the software previously mentioned here that was cracked but still released)?
  19. That is not a very good assumption to make. I am not even an adult.
  20. If you use your computer for playing games then you should not use AeroGlass at all. It is not intended for such usage. I don't blame you, BigMuscle. This is a real darn good move, and I don't mean that sarcastically. You provided an early version for free (which is good whether you will charge for it or not), which you didn't have to do. And yet, DeltaBrews (or DeltaBrew2, DeltaBrew3, or DeltaBrew4, depending on how many times he has been banned) seriously didn't have the respect in him to simply take what you gave him and hack it in ways against your will, potentially impairing your ability to make money from your work, knowingly wronging you, and justifies it by "it was annoying," and making an empty and selfish request "please don't hate me" despite what he did. And whenever he gets banned, that immature baby makes a new account to try to justify this. Perhaps all future pre-release builds should be invite only, with no more public betas until the final release.
  21. You have just took a program that Bigmuscle worked so hard on that you think that he will charge for, and you cracked it so you can use the free beta version instead of buying the full version, so bigmuscle gets less money. Hehas every right to hate you.
  22. I get no blur in non-native mode as well.
  23. Good, I am about to test beta 2, but I just want to note that the fact that the site you are hosting this on has an invalid security certificate concerns me. (I recommend SkyDrive)
  24. Sorry, Bigmuscle, as coming off as a bit of a jerk. I really do appreciate what you do. If it has a price, so what? Back on topic: what do you specifically plan to do in the next version? Will it eliminate the need for windows to be set as partially transparent? Will it blend the background and glass color differently? I can tell that this program is really taking shape. Maybe it will be ready to release in 2 or 3 more versions.
  25. I wonder if Bigmuscle got an offer from Stardock for the final product.
