  1. After several hours using it, I found that everything was exactly like in Windows 7 except the title bar buttons. While analyzing your "Aero Glow v2.msstyles" with reshacker, I found which resource is responsible of title bar and window frames : STREAM\986\0 - ORIGINAL : http://img835.imageshack.us/img835/8042/stream986original.png Worked a few hours in order to improve it : STREAM\986\0 - MODIFIED : http://img803.imageshack.us/img803/9540/stream986final.png Here is the final result after placing it back in "Aero Glow v2.msstyles" using ResHacker and applying the theme : Feel free to use it in your theme if you want EDIT - Found another little fix to make for the close button glow effect : The glow effect was 1 pixel too large on the left so I fixed that ^^ Here is the updated file : http://img832.imageshack.us/img832/9643/stream986finalclosefix.png I need help applying this.
  2. Do you mean the RELEASE PREVIEW theme? The Conusmer Preview theme does not work.
  3. Bigmuscle, I would like to present you with the "Outstanding Hacking" award. The program is almost perfect. But, one thing that annoys me is that the windows lose transparency when using desktop Peek. It is more noticeable on inactive windows.
  4. Here is a topic which I had created for people who need help like you:

  5. For people who need it, here is the code for the Windows 8 Release Preview theme. ; Copyright © Microsoft Corp. [Theme] ; Windows - IDS_THEME_DISPLAYNAME_AERO DisplayName=Aero RP SetLogonBackground=0 ; Computer - SHIDI_SERVER [CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\DefaultIcon] DefaultValue=%SystemRoot%\System32\imageres.dll,-109 ; UsersFiles - SHIDI_USERFILES [CLSID\{59031A47-3F72-44A7-89C5-5595FE6B30EE}\DefaultIcon] DefaultValue=%SystemRoot%\System32\imageres.dll,-123 ; Network - SHIDI_MYNETWORK [CLSID\{F02C1A0D-BE21-4350-88B0-7367FC96EF3C}\DefaultIcon] DefaultValue=%SystemRoot%\System32\imageres.dll,-25 ; Recycle Bin - SHIDI_RECYCLERFULL SHIDI_RECYCLER [CLSID\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}\DefaultIcon] Full=%SystemRoot%\System32\imageres.dll,-54 Empty=%SystemRoot%\System32\imageres.dll,-55 [Control Panel\Cursors] AppStarting=%SystemRoot%\cursors\aero_working.ani Arrow=%SystemRoot%\cursors\aero_arrow.cur Crosshair= Hand=%SystemRoot%\cursors\aero_link.cur Help=%SystemRoot%\cursors\aero_helpsel.cur IBeam= No=%SystemRoot%\cursors\aero_unavail.cur NWPen=%SystemRoot%\cursors\aero_pen.cur SizeAll=%SystemRoot%\cursors\aero_move.cur SizeNESW=%SystemRoot%\cursors\aero_nesw.cur SizeNS=%SystemRoot%\cursors\aero_ns.cur SizeNWSE=%SystemRoot%\cursors\aero_nwse.cur SizeWE=%SystemRoot%\cursors\aero_ew.cur UpArrow=%SystemRoot%\cursors\aero_up.cur Wait=%SystemRoot%\cursors\aero_busy.ani DefaultValue=Windows Aero DefaultValue.MUI=@main.cpl,-1020 [Control Panel\Desktop] Wallpaper=%SystemRoot%\web\wallpaper\Windows\img0.jpg TileWallpaper=0 WallpaperStyle=10 Pattern= [VisualStyles] Path=%ResourceDir%\Themes\AeroRP\Aero.msstyles ColorStyle=NormalColor Size=NormalSize Transparency=1 AutoColorization=1 [boot] SCRNSAVE.EXE= [MasterThemeSelector] MTSM=RJSPBS [Sounds] ; IDS_SCHEME_DEFAULT SchemeName=@%SystemRoot%\System32\mmres.dll,-800 Make sure that the "Aero" folder from the RP is named "Aero RP".
  6. Direct3D mode does work on single monitor only.
  7. Changing the DeviceFeatureLevel to 9300 does enable Glass on version 0.4, but Direct3D mode is very glichy. Notice on the supplied screenshots that blur only occurs on part of the window. Direct2D mode works fine though.
  8. Do I create a folder called "AeroRP" also and put it into the themes folder? Or what? The "Aero" folder from the RP must be renamed to "AeroRP". The theme file must also be renamed to "AeroRP". Do the modifications to the theme file, and it should work.
  9. That's the Windows Basic theme. That loads when Windows cannot locate the theme files. When unpatched Windows tries to load a customized theme, it sometimes corrupts it. Try replacing the files and try again. I guess the dll file is the file which is injected into the DWM by the loader. Replacing the dll file is a downgrade.
  10. Send me a screenshot. Try reloading the files after you patched it.
  11. Kind of. You still need to patch your system since this is considered a customized theme. I recommend either UxTheme (http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enhancements/UXTheme-MultiPatcher.shtml), or UxStyle (http://uxstyle.com/builds/UxStyle_Core_sep03_experimental_bits.zip).
  12. The theme that I use is the Release Preview theme. A modified version of the theme will work in the Windows 8 RTM. Tutorial and winver screenshot included.
  13. I have the same troubles with everyone else. Even selecting Direct2D mode does not activate transparency. Screenshot and debug log included.
  14. You should, if possible, make another registry option in which it can switch from using the pixel shaders to using what the program is currently using.
  15. Is that blur on the taskbar?
  16. It works properly for me.
