I am going out of town where I will be getting a new PDA I exported my contacts to comma based file (windows) right? Then I emailed it to myself so I have in chicago. LOL right? Now how do I put on my friends computer without messing up his contacts? Can I put a second user or do you call it a profile like a phone on his Outlook? You know what?....I honestly don't think it is worth reinstalling my OS. I did it recently, know how to do it, and know there is nothing wrong with it. But most importantly, This is the sole topic, customizing, along with the specific program of Desktop X, where people seem unwilling to share their time and knowledge. I am a novice but would like to use DesktopX. But i can not get any support. Can u help 1) My Widgets of Core Calendar and Core Weather won't update. they are stuck on an old date and old weather .I even uninstalled and reinstalled. 2) I loved the old version of the core picture framer. Now none comes with it. I did find one somewhere but I forgot and it was extremely hard to use. Does any one know where to find one, and help me with instructions, one where the whole pic fits in the frame. the one i found the only way u could see the whole pic was to move around in the frame. thanks so much eric

I just got DSL a few days ago from ATT. I think everything is hooked up ok. I am using it and it is browsing fine..so to speak. I can download and upload fast. Actually, that is where there is the biggest difference, it actually doesn't browse much faster than a good dial up with an accelerator. But the problem is I cannot get some graphics. like the Yahoo on the top of Yahoo's page. I just get the letters typed...Yahoo. No graphics. Also, a lot of ads are missing. In other places, about an inch over the page sporadically I get page cannot be displayed. I am getting very upset with ATT. they said everything is ok on their end cause they did all those PING tests. Now they said they will send someone out to look at it and charge me?? Any ideas. I think I may just pay the extra 10 or 20 $ and go with cable and save the money by getting rid of my home phone and only having the cell. Nonetheless, I'd still like to know what could be the problem Kevin at KRC said it could've been my IE spyad, but I told him I've had that installed and it worked fine with dial up

Prathapml, What language are you and tuxman using? Is that something I should know with out taking a course or do u teach yourself? Granted i got that theme, so I shouldn't worry, but I sometimes try to understand everything-- You said to download that energy blue theme and extract is. Well, it is an .exe file. can u extract a .exe file or did I just go to the wrong download. I thought in my VERY limited knowledge that u extracted (unzipped is the same thing right?) zip files Thanks E

Prathapml I am still confused. I am very clear on the Energy Blue being a theme. I got it using the link that someone provided. But 'Royale' is not a theme really, is it? It is just an appearance. Am I right or wrong? How come when I have the Energy Blue theme applied, then I go to appearance, it has Windows XP listed, with Royale as the color. But then if you move the choice, it even goes further to only list the Windows XP colors Not the Royale Theme. Can it be fixed so that if you have the Energy Blue theme applied , the appearance that is listed is an Energy Blue appearance, or Royale appearance, whichever is appropriate? If this thread has been answered, I apologize, just give me a couple keywords to find that thread. Eric

But I did get some that did not work when I put them there, and I did get some that did work when I put them up 'one layer' in resources. If you have !plus, their theme.dll icons (files?) are in windows/resources, with the rest of the file, sure, being put in windows/resources/themes? And yes, your explanation of my question was correct, thank you. I do realize that anyone answering anything here is of their own free will, they could be out reading, watching the tube, at a ballgame, spending time with their significant other, sleeping, etc....so I have a tremendous amount of respect for someone so selfless.

I am putting this thread here because it has to do with getting that energy blue theme. I got it, but it said I need the tabbed pc edition?// So I wouldn't get yelled at, I searched, but I seriously must not know how to search right. I searched under 'tabbed pc edition' about 8 items came up, none of which had that in their title, but I looked inside also and mentioned NOTHING. So, 1) first and foremost, what am i doing wrong searching 2) do you need the tabbed pc edition 3) what is it, where is it, is it free to get 4) my previous question that I DID search for can someone answer if possible: Why am I being told by some that themes can be put in windows/resources/themes, but some go in windows/resources. Thank you very much. I understand. However, I am always pleasant and always say thank you. But most of all, I am so organized in my thoughts I always place my question in an easy to read and organized fashion. So I suppose the answer to my question is that there is no paid support, but just people who will answer the questions if they can and want. I don't think that searching is always the answer. I search MOST of the time honestly, but I recall a few days ago that I was asked to search for threads the answer why I was told to put my downloaded themes in the resources/themes directory, but mine work in the windows/resources directory. so when I did the searches, I was coming up with those very threads. It is pitiful there are so many unanswered threads in here. anyway in DesktopX I have that Slide show i apparently put the wrong type of pic in there now it is white and won't change when I put new pics in there. i';ve tried deleting the widget and putting it back. the same thing happens. Also reinstalled DesktopX. Still happens WEIRD. Also, what is the large DesktopX Icon, when u get rid of it. how do u get it back. I got the Royale theme, but where do you get the energy blue theme? BTW, these aren't really themes are they, they are just the appearance packages like the border, etc right? No wallpaper, screensaver, icons, right? Anyway since someone recommended me go the hacked uxtheme.dll file way, I've had a hard time. they said to put the theme in the windows/resources/theme directory and the theme file right outside of the folder. Some work like this but some do not. Some I have to put 1 layer up, or whatever u call it in windows/resources directory? How come Why the inconsistency? Am I doing something wrong? Mr Spock. But WinMx has a waiting list for some songs. then there are songs that are immediately available. Is that the same for emule. are there some songs that are currently available. I am a novice. Could you explain again the index page with direct link. Does WinMX or the original Kazaa have it? I don't like how Kazaa put everything into another folder and not My Music. WinMX is not a media player or userinterface, it just puts it directly into the folder of ur choice--i.e. my music. which one is emule like? and how is Symantec Corporate any different than NOrton antivirus other than have more features, I am sure. but it 'd still be a resource hog, wouldn't it? I am getting an error when hitting send/receive for my email. I have ATT and MSN on there . It occurs with MSN. the error is task: msn: folder: inbox: synchronization headers.' reported error (0x800CCCF6) An unknown error has occured. Please save any work and restart It occurs when sending and receiving . it gets to 66% then I get the error Does anyone know what it is and why I get it and how to fix it?

Someone asked what the best p2p software is? there were many answers. I asked again in that thread, but didn't get an answer. I guess the thread was too old. I saw emule, bittorrent, and limewire mentioned most often. I did not see WinMX mentioned. Are they better than WinMX? So which of those 4 is better. Do you have to take into consideration if you are using dial up (which I am). Someone told me they like the queueing feature of one of them, which WinMX has, but I said that is no good for me because I have dail up. As far as Antivirus programs go. I had McAfee when I got my Dell. I HATED IT. So confusing to use. I got Norton for free from them when I had a problem with the McAfee. However, when I asked someone at another forum a question about one of the Norton services and whether it needed to be running. He said he tells everyone that Norton is a Resources Hog. He Highly recommends AVG. Is it any good? As good or better than Norton? Thanks E

I had stylexp and to everyones advice I removed it. 'it sacrafices the integrity of the registry and/or files' it does what simply a hacked uxtheme.dll can do. Whatever this is. Is it true. Anyway, when removing it, i noticed in my guest account that the icons were still on i candy. I reinstalled StyleXP and clicked on XP icons, they were all correct on my acct, but still not in the guest account. How do I change them back there. i tried to access styleXP from within Guest acct. but it would not let me. Is there a way to access all programs from within this acct. Would this be the fix? How come when i got the patch for the uxtheme.dll that they said was needed to use a hacked one, I would put the themes in windows/resources/themes where people said, but it did not work when I right clicked and hit display properties. it did work however when I put them where Windows !Plus put their themes in windows/resources (1layer up if that is the correct terminology??)

thanks. Got that same 'lecture' about StyleXP and themexp.org in another question. Except, not to correct you or the other guy, but when I applied the uxtheme.dll patch and am now putting in my own downloaded themes. They go in Windows/resources . they don't go in windows/resources/themes. At least not in my computer. I tried putting the entire theme folder in there , with the theme icon outside, along side luna, etc but it didn't work. I saw where my Windows !Plus themes were put outside of the Themes folder in, as I said, Windows/resources I put the theme there and it worked.

Well, I am a newbie, so anyone feel free to correct me. But as I am instructed by professionals, we all need to remember that there is NO safe computing with P2P software. Ok, now don't fall over...but I got it. I installed my Smallville theme, greatwhite theme, et al But it did not work the way you said. I am not sure if my computer is messed up (I doubt it because I just did a repair install when I removed StyleXP because it left some stuff on there and I deleted too much by mistake LOL), or if I misunderstood what you said. When I put these theme folders in windows/resources/themes, it told me stuff was missing. But I saw the Windows !Plus themes right outside the theme folder in Windows/resources folder (directory? see question above) so I put my themes there and it worked. How come? I placed my one Manhunt screensaver there and some wallpapers I downloaded from ThemeXP and they did not show up when I clicked display properties. are they things that I need to click on and apply manually? Is that normal Now for some tricky questions that will help keep my computer clean. Even tho I did that repair install I said. it seems that some stuff was left on there STILL by Style XP. So what you are saying is that there probably not be a need to uninstall it anyway. But, (I am always full of hypotheticals) If I wanted to remove the patch and do the one the other person recommended (what was that btw, and how does it differ) how could I remove the patch I put on. Let me guess--you can't!! I'd have to do a Repair-Install of XP probably right What is the difference in creating a directory and a folder. Nothing, right? So I went into my folder I created, "downloaded themes" (I am still going to keep this) and copied the whole Smallville Theme folder and put it in /Windows/Resources/Themes clicked on display properties. And NOTHING. i restarted. Nothing. I copied the Smallville Theme Icon and put it outside the folder directly in the Theme folder. I clicked on display properties and saw it. But I tried to select it and saw that somethings were missing. I am certainly not supposed to put all the cursors, etc, (10's of icons in that folder) am I. I mean my !plus themes don't have all their icons there. They are all in their !Plus folder. So what am I doing wrong. Thanks E

Ok guys (gals?) I am learning, slowly but surely. the uxtheme.dll file comes with xp, but you download others is that correct. You don't replace one with another, but each theme is one, right? (sorry to be so stupid) I did the patch for the sp2 for the the uxtheme.dll pack then I saw what was recommended second. Why was the second recommendation made. How do I undo the patch that I did to do the second if I choose. Or do I need to? Next. with this patch done. are you saying that this smallville theme I downloaded that I consistently need to go into c/downloaded themes by eric (a folder that I created) all I need to do is place that icon in windows/resources/themes and it will show up when I right click and hit display properties, just like the rest. Now I already got rid of StyleXP per Xian's advice. But were you 2 disagreeing as to the danger of it. If you agree that it is not dangerous, are you saying I should download it again, or simply go to that site you provided and use the themes via the hached uxtheme.dll way. Sorry, I did not see "Windows Desktop Screenshot" in WindowBlinds??? Is that not in the freeware version, or do I have to go to the web to see that option? I was first disappointed when I got it because the appearances it came with were lame and boring, but I did see the option to go to the web and dowload more into the interface. But I have one I like, Torn, but the noise is so loud. Can I turn it off. I didn't see how. Better yet, there is no way to turn down the system sounds like that , but leave up the remaining sounds for music is there? (2 types of sound tracks or whatever the technical term is?
