  1. Thank you so much for your help. But you're both very far ahead of me. I am a novice. I have no idea what a hacked UXtheme.dll file is. I am assuming it is a file that you download that can be applied by right clicking on the desktop and hitting properties and applying it like you would a normal Windows XP theme or wallpaper, and not one that needs some other userinterface to apply it, like StyleXP. Is that basically it? Next, I think the boot file looks ok, because I forgot but I found out how to reset it within Style XP without having to deal with that backup file, and I did. So when I sent it, it is a normal boot.ini file...or should be. It is, right? What is the ntoskrnl.exe file? That is the first I've heard it mentioned. I never did. and i don't think you did til this point? So are you telling me that if I would have posted an altered boot.ini file here, you would've been able to fix it so I don't have to make that choice. Or was the last comment about the fact that I would still have 30 seconds to pick that boot screen and that can't be changed. The object that I put on my desktop from desktop x the media player. I see some settings switch when I right click. But very confusing, but what media player is it? wMP? Do i have to keep inserting the song files each time--it appears so. Are there no more controls for it or playlists I can look at?
  2. Here is my boot ini file that you said you'd look at and tell me what to do to take out the fact that I have to choose to select that screen; I mean what is the point of having to select it. here it is: [boot loader] timeout=30 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn But I may not keep this program. Are you telling me STYLE XP IS NOT SAFE? why again? Someone else said that in Joe User.com and recommended WindowsBlinds or something like that. is that better? Lastly, I got what I thought was going to be 2 wallpapers from that troublesome site ThemeXp. I unzipped them and I got 2 icons for each one. A registry icon which asked me if I wanted to put the info in the registry. Why I selected yes, I do not know. The other one is something called Windows LogonUI andd Urantia Logon UI. One of them said microsoft. Kevin, of KevinsResourceCenter said that that Microsoft means nothing. anyone could and would say that. Do you know what those files are. They are not Wallpapers. I click them and nothing happens. How do i get those registry entries out that I clicked and selected yes? Thanks Eric
  3. I downloaded a theme called UltraBlue ?? from ThemeXP (i am finding more problems with themes from this site and inconsistencies in the types they have and where they place their final files) When I had to remove a program with this theme installed, I clicked on control panel, add/remove programs, then I got an error "value creation failed at line 521" I change themes and I don't have the problem. I am assuming it is a bad download and not my computer. Am I right. I can't fix it myself can I?
  4. 1. are there going to be any compatibility issues or problems from running or having objectdock, desktopx, and stylexp on my computer. 2. I added too many weather docks on my objectdock. How do I remove one. I do see the option to remove other items by right clicking on them, but not the weather moon (or sun) 3. Is there a help area for objectdock 4. How can I stop it from running. I did not see some icon in the system tray or anywhere to keep it from running. I had to open the taskmanager. 5. When I did click ctr alt del to open the task mgr, I got the Old Windows box in the middle with all the options Lock comp, log off, shut down, etc. but I have XP,SP2. this all of a sudden came up. Is this from either objectdock or stylexp. My bet is probable in stylexp either the logon option or the boot.ini option lastly 6. speaking of the boot.ini option which i backed up to use the stylexp boot screens, when I restarted it gave me the option of using the bootscreen or using windows xp. LOL LOL Who would've even chose that if it involves having to make a selection to see this bootscreen. Is there a way around having to make this choice. Thanks for your time and patience (I am a new visitor--but I am never short on questions--I will always try to properly post and never double thread)
