  1. That high contrast thing is entirely different, which was just actually a bug.
  2. Themes patching/circumvention works fine with 8.1. Neat. Also I don't know why Microsoft did this, but text glow no longer works in non-Ribbon windows at all. Works fine everywhere else like it used to, just not in non-Ribbon windows :S
  3. Windows Style Builder Beta 1.5.4 onwards supports 7 to 8 theme porting. Either that or by recreating it manually.
  4. Does maximized window color no longer work? I know they removed that functionality from the taskbar in 7 but it doesn't seem to work on the windows anymore either. I don't know if that's a change in DWM or something missing from DWMLoader.
  5. http://i.cubeupload.com/9DfUzn.png Albeit that theme looked better in 7 with the transparent navbar.
  6. Actually, this seems to be the real reason of my black screens. However, it is more complicated because I was using signed theme when it happened. I noticed that theme in HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\etc. key is loaded before login screen and this theme does not always correspond the user's current theme. And when the black screen appeared, it was really set to the unsigned theme resulting in DWM failed to load. So questions are: when the theme into default user registry branch is set? And why Windows automatic repair is not able to fix this problem? Interestingly enough that value (assuming you mean HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ThemeManager\DllName) doesn't always correspond to the actual theme in 7 either.
  7. Bigmuscle said that Flip 3D will be implemented later. Stripes are dependent on the theme itself. The streaks are still in the theme but they're only rendered with the Aero Peek window and not the regular windows, taskbar, or any other part of the blur area.
  8. Thanks for that info. OK, so it really will take a full theme replacement to make this work right, unless you have plans to tweak something at run time to bring that glow back. I'd be interested, now that themes without Microsoft signatures can be used, in whether anyone has taken the default Aero.msstyles and changed just this one thing to bring ribbon window glows back. I'm not sure I'm ready to get into full theme editing just yet. -Noel Here you go: http://thepanda-x.deviantart.com/art/Aero-Glow-377917903 It uses all the default settings for glow as used in Windows 7.
  9. I'm not even sure where this message box comes from. When does it appear? Only when changing theme, or randomly during a day? Randomly during the day. I could be wrong but it seems when the computer has been idle for a bit is when it happens.
  10. One's free, the other isn't. And just for the blur effect isn't worth the price.
  11. I'm getting this a couple times a day:
  12. can you make some pictures or videos? I have no idea what you mean. Btw, the Windg issue is still there. strange that it worked with the other dump I opened 2 hours ago http://screencast.com/t/WCop2WWbZISK
  13. It shows the frame of the minimal taskmanger with nothing in it, as soon as the fade in animation completes, it closes.
  14. Is there a known issue with the task manager not working? I searched through the last few pages and didn't see anyone mention it.
  15. Explorer, msstyles, registry - all of them. . I was hoping just the msstyles since that's just what I noticed because adding back the stuff in the msstyles would be quite easy.
  16. Implementation from Explorer or the msstyles?
  17. Had a poke around the Windows Blue aero.msstyles, and Microsoft has removed over 90% of the start menu resources. Curious as to how this will affect SIB considering as far as I know it still relies on that information by default.
  18. Text glow has nothing to do with it. Technically the default Aero theme has a text glow, just the image it uses is transparent, but it's still there.
  19. Is that blur on the taskbar? In StartIsBack there's an option to disable transparency on the taskbar and start menu which allows this to blur them as it would previously in 7.
  20. Constructive? Don't charge for this. Put a thousand ads in the installer (only the installer) and you'll get it back Otherwise, people will just pirate it. I've got to agree with this really. I understand your efforts to bring it back, I wouldn't mind donating the amount you'd charge for it, simply for the effort, but charging for it I disagree with. It's not about the amount for me, it's about what it means to charge for a replica of someone else's creation. Though I wouldn't pirate it, I simply wouldn't get it.
  21. Thanks for this, I'm glad it also still supports reading the msstyles for images, margins, fonts and colors. Administrative Tools doesn't work though.
