  1. @Dave-H I will add the download link if a moderator tells me it's fine to do so.
  2. @nostaglic98 The latest SP4 update version is required for proper .NET Framework 4.0 servicing. It is strongly recommended because it includes some enhancemnets to the way all .NET Framework versions are installed.
  3. Started uploading the new FINAL version files. They will be available in a few hours.
  4. @herbalist Unfortunately, the great size of SP4 can be a disadvantage. Howewer, I'll try to help anyone willing to remove some of its components by publishing the source files used to build the SP4 (except for the certificate used to digitally sign all updated files). You can modify the update.inf and the other information files, so that they contain only the necessary files for your needs. I have left my comments in the INF files intact (except for the layout/txtsetup/dosnet ones) specifically for that purpose- to help you customizing these files. There is no perfect solution for any problem. I have tried to make SP4 fully customizable but, on the other hand, only advanced users will have the skills to complete the task.
  5. Try to remove .NET Framework completely: 1. Use Add/remove components to remove all installed .NET Framework versions. 2. Run the .NET Framework cleanup tool to remove any MSI remnants. I haven't reproduced your issue in VM.
  6. That's interesting. I haven't reproduced the issue yet - but it seems unrelated to SP4. I suppose you get the crash when you right-click on any .tmp file as well.
  7. Try to log in with another user account and see what happens.
  8. Does the problem reappear when the folder is recreated?
  9. Have you tried deleting the C:\Documents and Settings\my name\Local Settings\Temp folder?
  10. @jaffar Any errors in the event log? @herbalist The live installer installs the default set of SP4 components, including .NET Framework 3.5 and 1.1. I don't plan to change this behaviour in the (next) final release.
  11. IMPORTANT! STOP downloading unless you want to test only! A new Final version with improved .NET Framework CD-ROM installation will be uploaded soon! I removed the torrent file and I will replace the GDrive EXE files very soon. Details: Lodctrs failed in some .NET Framework updates - will change the way .NET Framework lodctr is run during Windows setup, lodctrs will be executed in T13 now!
  12. Finshed uploading - there is also a torrent available.
  13. Windows XP Unofficial SP4 Final is now available. Some files are still uploading and will be available in a few hours. Windows XP SP4 installer is currently available in the form of two ISOs.
  14. Thanks for reporting this aj7749msfn.
  15. The live installer files will extracted in 2 ISOs when the Final Version is released, for use on older systems. You must slipstream SP4 to your installation media, a CD-ROM installation ISO won't be provided. Windows XP SP4 great size can be attributed primarily to the MCE2005 files - SP4 updates all previous MCE versions to MCE2005 with Update Rollup 2. In addition, it includes all .NET frameworks and other components which increase SP4 size considerably.
  16. @PhilipYip I have tested SP4 with SLP media, including a Dell MCE2005 SP2 DVD. Make sure you've slipstreamed SP4 in a Windows XP environment.
  17. The only update that shouldn't show up is the KB2936068 (the others are post-EOL updates). Windows XP SP4 RC is coming soon, so please test it with Windows XP SP4 RC, as soon as it is available.
  18. I have changed the MSN6-related sections in update.inf, so the msnmsn.inf issue may not appear in the upcoming RC build.
  19. BUG REPORT: KB2926765 update prevents Internet and E-mail client selection from the Start menu. After applying the specific update to a POSReady 2009 system, Start menu will always show the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\StartMenuInternet Internet Client even if HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Clients\StartMenuInternet is not empty. The same bug is observed with the E-mail client. As a result, the end-user cannot change the Start menu Internet and E-mail icons from the Start Menu.
  20. Except for copying the files to \WINDOWS\System32 these files need to be copied to \dllcache and install a catalog file for them every time they're updated, if SFC is enabled. This means you have to modify the IE8 cumulative update's update.inf file and: a) add the IE6 cumulative update catalog file to [productcatalogstoinstall], [sourcediskfiles] and [archivecatalogfilesonly] B) add the necessary lines to copy .CAT and .DLL to dllcache c) copy the IE6 update CAT file to the main IE8 update folder (not the \update subfolder).
  21. New release - Beta 3 is now available.
  22. For anyone interested, I've uploaded the latest modified June 2014 sfxcab installers at RyanVM.net. The update.exe file is patched, but it will work like the original.
  23. @ PRB They don't need to release a hotfix to prevent the POSReady tweak. They need to change the detection algorithm of their Windows Update Servers.
