  1. I use a unattend XP Install cd with a lot of drivers. They installation is unattended and normally the drivers will installed very fine. Now i have a problem with a FSC Amilo Notebook. The onboard soundchip is a crystal AC97 ICH4. But at the end of the XP install process there is a Realtek AC97 chip installed. No problems in the Devicemanager, mixer is installed - but no sound...i must reinstall the drivers. How can i use the original device drivers to install unattended ? Must i change the inf files or the device path in winnt.sif ? Why a realtek driver is installed ?
  2. Thats true... but i wonder myself... the 7zip File is allways expanding at T37, but all my drivers are installed !
  3. I have found a easy way ! In detachedprogram i run a cmd script, that search for my Install DVD/CD - than it calls a 7zip archiv from CD and extract it at T39 to the PnPDriverPath (in winnt.sif) to disk. Runs fine, all drivers are installed.....MUST NOT PATCH XP files !!!
  4. Im reading a lot in this forum about installation of compressed drivers. So i burnd my multiboot DVD with 1. DetachedProgram="%SYSTEMDRIVE%\d.exe" Arguments="-x -y -o%systemdrive%" - a 7zip selfextracting file, which extracts the compressed drivers to C:\D..... I thougt XP install (after the extraction is done) -T39- my hardware, but it doesnt. The PnPDriverPath is in winnt.sif. Then i tried a other way - DetachedProgram=cmd.exe Arguments="/C START %systemdrive%\detached.cmd" -the cmd runs fine, 7zip file runs fine, but hardware dedection doesnt run. It only install the ms-drivers(but DriverSigningPolicy=Ignore). My 7zip file is very large, because i have much configurations to install. Can it be, that the extraction time is to long, and hardwarededection starts before extraction is fully done ? Here are the cmd script, it works fine at t39 @echo off %systemdrive%\cmdow @ /hid FOR %%d IN (c: d: e: f: g: h: i: j: k: l: m: n: o: p: q: r: s: t: u: v: w: x: y: z:) DO IF EXIST %%d\fmm4\$OEM$\$1\detached.cmd SET CDROM=%%d start /wait %CDROM%d.exe -x -y -o%systemdrive% EXIT The easiest way for me (on the boot dvd are now 25 XP versions of varios PC manufacturers) was to have 1 compressed file (d.exe) in the root, that will be unpacked through T39 and after that PNP dedection/install runs. So i must have only 1 file for all versions. Is there a other way to scan for hardware through the cmdlines.txt at T12/13, before the last boot ? I read something about Setdevicepath and other progs, but i dont now how they work. Sorry for my bad english, hope you understand...
  5. have try it, it runs with or without compression !
  6. Now it runs really, and with my own bitmap without error...i have use the modifype -c option and the winntbbu.dll now runs uncompressed like the file on the original cd
  7. Thank you, Astalavista I tried your file - it runs fine. Must have the patched file the same size as the orginal file ? Can i re-edit your file (change messages to german...)? I have modified the file with modifype (color-changingpack)....with the cmd -script
  8. Have the same problem like sneakyghost... maybe the german version is a little bit other. The winntbbu is original not commpressed on CD. I have tried compressed(*.dl_) and uncommpressed (*.dll), it doesnt work for me. Must i patch also other files or what can i do ?
  9. It makes me crazy...no way. I think XP takes a renamed I386 folder as root folder for install...this will be the problem. And with this extra I386 folder i cant mix XPhome and Prof on one DVD - And it isnt preactivated ! But i dont know all, how preactivation works. I think xp scans for the Product key in winnt.sif and the BIOS string, but it MUST look at another information (oem*.* files, setupp.ini ?)!
  10. @HTC: I thougt with oemfilespath i can point to a $OEM$ folder anywhere at the install medium and then for each version. But MS Tech says it runs not on CD/DVD, only by network install. And my XP versions are not preactivated if i install it from a folder directly under the root ( see my other post and your tipps). So i will use the older BCDW 1.5 folder structure (that works fine) - patched bootsector, 1 "Bootdiskfolder" with patched setupldr.bin and txtsetup.sif and winnt.sif and 1 Install folder with I386 and $OEM$ inside. I thougt it would be easier, if i have only 1 OEM for all - i have 9 XP Home, 2 XPpro, 2 XPMCE 2005, 4 XPMCE 2002, 1 W2k and 1 W98 on DVD. So each version needs an OEM - if i must update driver and patches - a lot of work. But i need it preactivated... for my work.
  11. i use cdimagegui and have no problems with isos greater than 4GB, most they are 4,4 GB and works fine - the source folder is 32GB and sometimes i must reduce some of the stuff, if it its more. I use options h n b o m and it works fine.
  12. @John Stevens : No problem, I know you want help me...but its not the solution for my problem. @htc: I know its a very difficult problem, that i have. I need it for my work, i have to install everyday 8-10 computers in our computer-service. And not only machines of one manufacturer. And then more versions of this one manufacturer (XP Home/Pro/ MCE 2002/2005...) And the Guides do not help me, because then i have problems with the preactivation. So i need so much versions on one DVD. It works (with BCDW 1.5a/z) but my greatest problem is the $OEM$ folder. If the OEMFILESPATH would work on CD/DVD....this would be a solution..but MS said it would only works on network drives. But i will search for your articles, maybe i found a good idea..
  13. Now i have made a multiboot DVD with some XP Versions and BCDW 2.0. I have some renamed I386 folder in the root, and bcdw.ini point to the setupldr.bin in this folders. Its now also possible to use only one $OEM§ -DirectoryBut it runs only if i use a extra I386 folder in the root directory. And i have another problem: I use preactivated versions (BIOS coded), but if i install from this DVD i must activate.(if i use the síngle OS CD it runs fine) I think the problem is the I386 folder. Setup dont use the files in the renamed Folder, it use only the I386. Is there a way to run setup from the renamed "I386" ( XPH1,XPH2,XPP1,XPP2...) I mean preactivation is not possible, because the files of the correct XP folder not in use.
  14. I wanna make a MultiBoot DVD with BCDW 2.0. I will use some XP Versions (Corporate Versions preactivated) How must i set the folder structure ? Which files i need in the root or in the renamed I386. Can i use renamed I386 direct from root dir ? Can i use only one $OEM$ dir for all ? I tried the last 2 weeks, but no one iso runs. Only if i use the normally I386 dir, the DVD boots. If i use another name (XPH1) Installation cancel. Tried to hex- patch setupldr.bin - Cancel Treid to use a patched bootsect.bin - Cancel Whats going wrong ? I thougt the version 2.0 is easy to use, only point to setupldr.bin in varios dirs... Im going creazy.... This is my idea: Root|- with some needed filed |-$OEM$ |-BCDW |-XPH1(renamed I386 Vers. A with subdirs (ASMS,SYSTEM32,....) |-XPH2( " B ) |-XPH3( " C ) .... is this possible ? Thanks for all help...
  15. @ billy-h: The problem is not the diskspace, its the time and work. If i wanna be up2date, i must add new drivers/patches etc. in every OEM-dir. ! CDIMAGE works fine on my Bootable DVD, it reduces 30GB to 4...
  16. it works at my system, but not full. It "copies" all drivers, but it doesnt install. When (in installation timeline) will pnp drivers be installed ? Can i call after T12 a pnp driver search...???
  17. @vitalis8: i use cdimagegui(cdimage), i believe it has the same function. My bootdvd directory on hdd is 32GB and cdimage reduce it to 4,4 GB as iso file...its not so the problem of space ( i hope double layer dvd price will go down...) its a problem of time and work to optimize every version (newer driver, patches). But i believe i have found a way...http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=32069 ... that can be a way
  18. I do not know all about the timeline of the XP Install...starts cmdline.txt befor the driver installation ? - Yes, i know it works, i also use cmdlines.txt befor driver install (HDA-devices) Thats a great idea - i try it ! Thanks a lot !!!
  19. It is possible to have only one $OEM$ directory in the root ? I use a multiboot DVD with some XP versions, and every version has his own $OEM$. But if i wanna add new drivers,patches... i must do it with every version - a lot of work. Is there a way to point all to one .....it would save time and space...
  20. To DEVELYN: I dont use winnt32.exe , its a bootable DVD with unattended install to METZEN: The key ist the original key from the original OEM DVD. The original DVD installs all components, but if i add it to my special bootdvd it doesnt install.
  21. I installed XP MCE 2005 in unattend mode. Works fine, no error. But at the end of the setup process i find no mce components at my version. Its only a normal XP Prof. There is a ehome directory, with only one file. Whats going wrong ? I searched for an installer (like in mce2002) i searched the DVD(OEM Version) for winnt.sif/cmdlines.txt.. files....nothing found. But its really a MCE2005 CD, shipped with a new PC...How is it possible to install the mce components(unattended)?
  22. ...this was also a error i had. winnt.sif ok, eula.txt in some directorys...i think this beta version isnt 100% functionally.
  23. yes, i have. Its a multiboot DVD with BCDw 1.5. Im not sure where the directorys must have her place, i place it 1. to the root and 2. in the same dir like the I386 of the MCE. \-rootfiles \CmPnents \DOTNETFX \XPH1 |_I386 |_CMPnents |_DOTNETFX |_$OEM$ MCE2002 runs on my Bootdvd, but there is a installer....but at 2005....????
  24. ...and thats my problem, i dont know how. I BELIEVE i must do this: Bootable loader is loader.bin in the bcdw dir. this calls bcdw.bin/bcdw.ini. Here i load the patched bootsectorfile ( change I386 in XPH1 f.i.). The bootsectorfile boots the setupldr.bin in dir %Root%\XPH1 - is this right ? If yes, something going wrong at my bootable DVD. I tried it in that way, but 1. XP says at the point of part./form. bootpartition it cant format, there are not enough memory or bad files...or 2. It loads and ask me for the update CD...but it is a regular OEM Full version. Today i have made some test at work and all installations canceled....then i tried the way about bcdw 1.5 - that runs (but there are also Problems, i used a MCE2005 OEM, it installed, but not the MCE functions, only as XPProf. Its a shame....1 week work and i found no way....
  25. I have a MCE2005 Version added to my multiboot DVD. Unattended Setup runs fine, but at the end of the setup process i dont find the MCE Functions ! Nothing is installed, its ONLY a win XP professional. Why.... Is rthere everyone, who had the same problem and had solve this ?
