  1. Do I need to worry about DirectX 8 and OpenGL 1.3 on an older pci video card with composite out? I only want to us it for a secondary video output for an older tv and wont be used for games, my system right now is xp with a pci e video card with direct x 9 or 10 my mother board is a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P with Q9300. I was also thinking about get this Video Card Or is there another way to do this without using a converter box? Thanks for any info I can get
  2. I dont know much about 7 and Virtual pc, I was thinking of using 7 pro or ultimate in 64-bit. Now if i use virtual pc and install xp or 98se can I run those in 32-bit in virtual mode? Thanks for any help
  3. I found how to use by trial and error. English is my 1st language. I just like things in layman's terms, makes it easy to understand. There are several terms and processes about computers that I don't understand.
  4. For install what ? The back up using the asr option or the restore file option from backup program option , it dosnt matter I tried to use it a number of ways and none of the work. I will do a fresh install of xp and copy the files manualy. I just dont know how that program is supposed to be used and windows dosnt put it in layman's terms so I can under stand how to use it. To you it might seem straight forward on how to use it, but ive never use any thing like it before so my mind set dosnt know what to do with it , ist just dosnt make any sinse to me. Thanks for the help yall tried to give me.
  5. I have it backed up on the hard drive, but when I reboot the computer it talks about deleting that partition that the back up file is on to install, im not even sure what it is talking about. and the help file dosnt make it any clearer. went to windows site to find step by step instruction to back up the intire hard drive ( system files and personal files) came up with a page with a basic description and a link for the rest of the info I was looking for , but that page dosnt seem to be there. I havnt ever try to back up a hard drive before, so right now im kinda lost and not sure what to do now.
  6. I am puting it on another hard drive that has 2 partitions on it.
  7. Im using a part of windows Ive havnt used before (Windows Xp backup). Im trying to back up all of the hdd, but how do i put it on a partitioned hard drive with out coping the other drive volumes( like D: and F:) I was wanting to install it on the F partition. Or is Windows XP back up able to do that? Thanks for any help I can get
  8. I found the info I was looking for there is no need to reply to this topic.
  9. Ive been buying seagate harddrives but now they dont seem to be all that good any more. I need somthing good for games and around 300 to 500 gigs and for sata 2.0 3 Gbits/s , that is made well and that wont break the bank, and a safe place to be shiped from. I also need a 1Tb usb drive for back up and storage. I do have 2 Sea Gate Barracuda 7200.10 Certified Repaired 500 gig HDD, but when they run they make abit of noise. So I think they are bad. I had puntoMX tell me to look for somthing like a HD7750, when I went to check it out, it says it will support multiple monitors but only has 1 dvi video output, now how do they do that? I havnt bought a video card in awhile not sure what they are doing now. My board supports crossfire x pcie 2.0. Hopefully I can find somthing good under the $100 dollar mark for 1 card. Thanks for any help I can get
  10. I tried going to the site ( http://www.myabandonware.com ) you left a link for but it loads to a blank white page on my browser. Is that the correct addres I listed here? Or do you think they are working on the page? And I was able to get to Dosbox. Thank you for your trouble
  11. Where do I go to find out about that abandon-ware list ?
  12. Reason for 2k is for older games for 98se and 2000 that wont support xp. But there is a program for xp where I can ran a virtual copy of those operating systems. Thank for yor help.
  13. So with that setup it should do pretty good?
  14. Yes I have everthing i need to build the system, and the motherboard has pci-e 2.0 slots. Now what brought me to ask this is somthing I read here on this site some time ago at this address http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/114125-what-is-the-correct-ddr2-memory-speed-for-use-with-1333-fsb-cpus/. And I dont know what video card I will use, the one I have now is Evga e-GeForce 8600 GTS, I was planing to get somthing better than that anyway. Most the game I play are shooter, and racing games (Gears of war, crisis, resident evil, need for speed and others). Im a buget builder and like my stuff to be backwards compatabile to a point When I was checking prices and specs on new mother board and processore, They seemed a bit too high and only had Sata ports, no ide or fdd ports Reason why I was thinking of upgrading to the Q9550 or might be a Q9650 is it is a better processor and I have a friend that has one laying arround for $50 Other wise he was going to sell it on ebay or some where. Hope this helps sorry it took me so long to reply I usually up all night and sleep during the day. Thanks
  15. Hello Im new here and not use to using forums. I can build computers with out much of a problem, but i dont know alot about overclocking. Im wanting to build a new pc for games, with a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P revision 1.1 mother board, CORE 2 Quad Q9300 FSB of 1333mhz, now here is what i dont know. I read this some where ( Core 2 technology benefits from RAM running synchronously with the FSB 1:1) if this is true I need memory at 667mhz to work the best . now i have 4-1 gig sticks of Gskill of ddr2 at 800mhz will it work just as well to down clock it to 667mhz? And I will run three os systems on the computer 2000,xp 32, win 7 64, not sure if i will use 2000 I would like to over clock the proccesor to 3ghz. I might upgrade the proccesor later on to somthing arround Q9550, and wanted to use 4-2 gigs sticks of ram for win 7, would 800 mhz memory work fine or should use 1066 down clocked (for a wider range of overclocking on the cpu with out going over 1066 on memory) ? I will do some overclocking-not a lot at first, at least till I get a better understandig of overclocking. I currently have the mother board, processor, the memory, and a copy of xp-32 pro to build my new system. Any info would be great Thanks for any help I can get
