Sure dont mean to violate terms of use, thanks for clarifying the useage. Since I cant use nLite as I setup this terminal, would you be open to suggest another slipstream software that would be OK fine for my use? Or in the alternative, is it possible to pay for a commercial version of Nlite so I can use it for this install? If not, know that all the help I've recieved from you folks up until now is appreciated.

Thanks for the reply Allen2, I only have one hard drive and it is connected to the sata 3 port per the manual. I also tried one of the sata 2 ports directly on the board with the blue screen result I do not blue screen when in IDE mode When you slipstreamed, which controller did you choose? Will try the cable swap but I doubt that is my problem since the drive shows up OK fine in UEFI. Just to see what will happen I'm trying the f6 floppy install with the W7/32 controller and a copy of W7 I have. Perhaps I'm having an issue with my XP disk..

This is really strange, I did enable AHCI and when I open the Bios it shows as being selected. As I metioned in an earlier post, If I change the setting to IDE, the OS will go thru loading and give me the set partition screen, change it back and blue screen. When you did your install, did you also do it by floppy or by slipstream? Either way, which controller did you select? Another thing I noticed was my SATA cable hooked to the drive is the one with the 90 degree end and it is hooked to the sata 3 controller. The Drive is visible in the Bios as well.

Just tried the controller you suggested by floppy choosing the Desktop/Workstation controller (other choices were ICH7R/DH, ICH7RMDW, and the moble chipset). Blue screen and 7b error again.

Commercial version? Bear in mind it is not my job to cusomize operating systems.

@Fernando 1, I appreciate your concern and really appreciate your help. I'm actually not an IT professional but a real estate paralegal. It is a long story but at the end of the day I am building this workstation for use at my job. The managing partner at the firm I work at had a hard drive crash a few months ago. Their corpoarate IT support provider wanted crazy money for 3 year old technology to replace the work station Since he knew I built my own HTPC (what I'm using right now), I told the boss I would tight him up. That's how I ended up here. I built him a Gigabyte z68mx with an SSD running XP. Now it's my turn. Not sure if that makes me a commercial user or not but I'm not selling hardware or in the computer business.

I have been in the bios and AHCI is enabled. And the board will start the OS load if I enable in IDE. Trying the F6 driver listed by Allen2 above now.

Is that for work ? Yes it is for work, Several legacy programs and we're stuck with XP until they pull the trigger on a company wide upgrade.

Also Just discovered my XP sp3 disk is likely a volume licence version, possibly meaning it could be a nock off This is getting more fun by the minute.. It but it did pass the validation test on another terminal after getting a new key from brother Bill. How does one source a known legit XP sp3 disk these days?

I used the driver found on the mainboard page that is listed below, Not the one shown on the page you linked to. Funny that Gigabyte would show an older driver on the board page... Why do you want to create a second disk? And which "both chipet drivers" do you mean? I always recommend to use the "one driver" integration method, because it is the safest one to get just the driver you want and nothing else. I am using CD-R as my media, so I assumed I had to make a new disk for each slipstream. By both drivers I was referring to the 7 series with 316 and 7 series without. You are suggesting the one driver method and silipstream them both individually into the same install disk, Yes? Also I noticed that after the nLite procedeure, the folder that I copied the sp3 disk into now has additional files showing (the slipstreamed files no doubt). Are these the files that are in nLite when I am asked if I want to use the previous session? I usually right click and delete them in nLite but noticed they are still there in the source folder. I'm not so well versed with nLite so I'm not so certain how should I deal with those files, both in nLite and in the source folder...

Interesting, Now the slipstreamed disk I used a few months ago on the Z68 board with a SSD using the 10.8 driver will not load the OS on the same board with a 250gb Velociraptor. I'm off to get more blank CD's...

@submix8c, I reviewed both the manual and website for a definitive answer to the chipset question and found none. Unless I am blind, it is also not contained on the link you kindly provided. @Fernando 1, reasonalbly good chance my XP source disk is useable as I was able to slipstream with it to a Gigabyte Z68m-ud2h-b3 board and an M4 SSD a few months ago. However I did have acitvation issues and had to get a key directly from Microsoft. There is another one of those boards here and I was thinking to use it with that disk just to (hopefully) get this terminal up and running. But if that gets this terminal up an running I still have to revisit the B75 board and will probably make a disk with both chipset drivers. when I intigrate should setup to do it selecting the one driver at a time or multi driver folder? Questions:2. Have you used a clean (=untouched) Windows XP CD, when you got the BSOD? Look into the i386 directory of the CD. Do you see there a file named WINNT.SIF? If yes, the CD is not an original XP CD. @Fernando 1, Thank you for watching this board as you do. It looks like you've made alot of friends here! To your suggestions, I wish I could say I am 100% sure my XP CD is genuine, but I can not. It was an OEM version purchased off ebay a while back. Visually it compares well to a sp2 disk I have and it passes the test above, No WINNT.SIF file. Any other ways to test? If after some research, it actually turns out to be a fake, where does one source a genuine clean untouched sp3 disk these days? Regarding the controller, I was unable to find anywhere in the boards manual that identified if the controller was the "Intel® 7 Series/C216 Chipset Family" or the "Intel® 7 Series Chipset". On the other hand it makes no reference to the C216 controller either. From what I found the C216 seems to be used with Xeon CPU's. and supports 2 SATA 3.0 and 4 SATA 2.0, My B75 only has 1 SATA 3.0 and 5 SATA 2.0. @cozinbob2, Driverpack looks pretty fail safe, although I suppose that is a relative term... Does it also require a minimum of sp3 as reccomended by @Fernando 1?

I'm stuck fighting this setup and would really appreciate some guidance. The setup is a clean i5 2300 and a Gigabyte B75m-D3H running a 250gb Velociraptor as a workstation that needs to run XP. So I'm stuck with a 10 year old OS on this install. I posted a similar question in another MSFN forum but see this was really the place for it. So sorry to duplicate & elaborate... My first attempt to install a 32 bit XP/AHCI on this board began with a slipstreamed XP using the 10.8 RST driver with the desktop/workstation controller. But the dreaded 0X00000007b error was the result. This same disk has installed XP on a z68 board So I went back to basics using the f6 install of the gigabyte sourced f6 SATA AHCI driver v11.1 using external floppy. All was recognized. When it came time to choose the appropriate storage controller the only ones that showed up were the ICH7R/DH, ICH7RMDW, Desktop/Workstation/Server express chipset, and the moble chipset. I started with the Desktop chipset but still couldn't get past the 7b error. Next I tried a new slipstream of my XP sp3 disk with the newest v11.6 RST . When slipstreaming the driver, I chose the standard 7 series chipset driver that showed up during the nlite procedure. After successfully burning the .iso I thought I had it beat. But still no install and the same 7b error came up. Not sure if it's necessarry, but I've been wiping the drive after each attempt just in case... And yes, if I set the bios to ide, the XP will install. I took it as far as setting the partitions no problem. What gives? Is the 7 series chipset driver wrong? As I was researching this I read somewhere that the 7 series chipset will not work with XP in AHCI. Any truth to that? I've looked for info, there is very little on the B75 so I even checked to see if there were any similar z77 issues, but not much can be found. Sure could use some constructive input. I'm out of patience.

@GrofLuigi I was planning to explore your suggestion regarding the W7 partitions. Unfortunately I dont think I can use parted magic becuase there is no OS yet to install it to. But I can go back in with the W7 install get in and wipe out the partions. Do you think it's necessary to try and wipe the Crucial SSD clean and get any low level drivers out of it before proceeding? Any utilities come to mind that will do that?

Helpful is a very long thread here at msfn by Fernando 1 titled "Integration of Intel's SATA AHCI and RAID drivers" This is the most exhaustive information regarding integration I have found. If you are using the 6 series chip set start around thread page 52-53. Also a Google search of: intel desktop workstation server express chipset sata ahci controller driver turned up some good information on integration (especially for XP users) from the intel communities website. Lots of reading, fun fun. Further searching found a consensus that the correct AHCI driver for a 6 series chipset is indeed called desktop/workstation/server express chipset/SATA AHCI controller. Now comes another challenge. When I open the unzipped f6flpy-x86 driver folder during the slip stream routine there are not one but two .inf flles, each containing this same driver name. One file is called aiAHCI.inf and the other is aiStor.inf So the million dollar question now is, which of these 2 .inf files is the correct one? Shame on Intel for making what should be a simple install such a time sucking nightmare.

@Ponch, Thanks for looking, I didnt find much either. With all the issues I've had, no this is not an overclock. Board is new for whatever that is worth. Frankly, I am not sure the driver chosen is correct. After about 2 hours of digging I found a thread that basically said "everyone says just slipstream the Intel z68 AHCI controller driver without saying which one to use" and went on to state the one I am using is the correct one. I could find no where else that could specify which driver that comes up in the slipstream was the series 6 controller. All I can do is call Intel at this point. As for installing W7, I have not attempted a full install of that OS primarily becuase I have never performed a data wipe on an SSD. However, when I created the partitions under W7 upon clicking into the install routine the OS did seem to want to continue the install.

Sorry I misunderstood, If I hit any key the OS goes thru the low level driver load again and then would have me load the OS again. If I do nothing at restart it passes the hit any screen notice and then hangs at the parity error screen. No key works at that point.

I searched this forum on this so if anyone has posted a similar experience I just plain missed it. After a failure to launch XP in AHCI mode with the F6 install of SATA AHCI drivers on a Gigabyte z68mx-ud2h-b3 and a Crucial M4, I went for the slipstream route. The board has 1 stick of 2gb ram and no cards installed. Prior, I had started the install with a W7 pro disk and set the partitions instead of dealing with aligning them after the OS install. After hours of digging I found which of the (at least) 8 controllers is supposedly the correct intel controller (desktop/workstation/server express chipset/SATA ACHI controller (iaAHCI.inf)) to slipstream. Success! I was finally able to get the driver loaded, the OS partition formatted, as well as the OS loaded. Then more pain. After restart, the OS does not begin the install routine. I get thru bios, the system passes the hit any key to load OS, then stops dead with a DOS error that reads PCI Parity Error Press F1 to continue F2 to reboot. Then the install just hangs. F2 wont work to reboot, nothing happens when I key F1. I went back into bios and loaded the safe defaults (remembering to switch to AHCI) but the boot errror continues. Same with a full powerdown and pulling the Bios battery. Nada Anyone with a tech level of experience care to help out a hobbyst?
