  1. For some reason, instead of having the Japanese IME in WinXP convert my hiragana to kanji after pressing space, the finalizer line only underlines one furigana at a time. It's as if the kanji dictionary (if that's what XP uses) has ceased to exist. Has anybody had any similar issues before?
  2. Hello guys! I've tried to do a search on the forums, but either this question hasn't been posed/solved, or I'm just really bad at search What I'd like to do is incorporate fancy schmancy visual styles, and objects to my unattended DVD. So far, I've only started by replacing my uxtheme.dll. However, I'd like to start adding objects/widgets to the installations. My main caveat is that I do not wish for the DVD to be loaded with 3rd party software such as DesktopX, or Konfabulator in order to run these widgets. Are there ways to get around this and simply copy some COM/DLL files and thus be able to run widgets w/o any of these?
  3. It works!! I love you! If I weren't a man, I'd make love to you! For some reason, Nero really doesn't like my renaming method. I guess I'll have to make another folder to hold my winnt.sif, another to old my RunOnceEx.cmd (for different users), another for autologon.reg, etc etc. Then copy them over to their respective directories, and rename them all before running Nero. What a pain... I do appreciate you two for helping me out though! In due time, hopefully I'll be helping out the then-noobies!
  4. Hi guys, I tried doing a search on the forums but found nothing about this problem I've been having. Basically, I have different versions of the winnt.sif for different users/computers that I install to. To burn a particular version, say for "James", I would simply call up my Nero compilation, and drag "winnt_james.sif" into the i386 folder of my compilation, and rename it to "winnt.sif" However, lately, after having made a number of modifications (too many to keep track of, actually), I keep going through setup as if the winnt.sif file doesn't even exist on my burned DVD. The setup goes to the "Welcome to Setup: To setup Windows XP now, press Enter." etc etc. It even asks for my reg-key again, when it should've read it from winnt.sif! What usually happens (when my compilation was working), is that setup goes straight to the part where I choose my installation partition. There is ONE version of my winnt.sif that works, but here's the scary part. If I open it via Noteapd (like I usually do), and save it under another filename (as usual), it no longer works!! For example... if I open up winnt_working.sif, and save it as winnt_no_longer_working.sif, and then dragged that file into my Nero compilation (after deleting the existing one in the compilation), and rename it to winnt.sif (again, only in the compilation), it doesn't work anymore. It should be the same file, no?? I'm very confused right now This wouldn't be the first time that I had edited the winnt.sif, so I'm not realy THAT big of a n00b . I even tried setting the winnt.sif as "high priority" in Nero, to no avail. Any help is appreciated!
  5. Similar issue. How do I go about setting another language for the non-unicode programs? Is there also a way to "check" the proceeding list for code conversion tables?
  6. Thanks to everybody for helping me build my WinXP DVD. I've been lurking around for a few months, but never posted. I figured the best first post would be to show how much I appreciate you all. Then again, this DVD has taken up an ungodly amount of my time
  7. When I install XP on my systems, I like to install many of my program files onto another partition (which I call 'archive') separate from the XP partition, so when I backup using Ghost, the file will be as small as possible. This introduces a problem during unattended. As every system is different, there's no way for me to foresee which disk/partition my 'archive' partition will reside in. During unattended, the RunOnceEx simply installs all the programs in whichever partition XP happened to be installed to, or %SYSTEMDRIVE%. I've put a blank txt file named 'arc.txt' into the root directory of my 'archive' partition, and succeeded in doing: IF EXIST F:\arc.txt SET ARC=F:\Program Files\ IF EXIST G:\arc.txt SET ARC=G:\Program Files\ and so on.... The problem is, I don't know how to set the installation destination to %ARC% in my RunOnceEx batch file. Of course an easier method might be to set my default 'Program Files' folder to %ARC% in my winnt.sif. However, the %ARC% variable cannot set there, if I'm not mistaken. Anybody have any ideas??
  8. can i assume i can use this in RunOnceEx.cmd like this? REG ADD %KEY%\085 /VE /D "Lavasoft Ad-Aware" /f REG ADD %KEY%\085 /V 1 /D "%CDROM%\Software\adaware\aaw.exe /s" /f REG ADD %KEY%\050 /V 2 /D "taskkill /IM Adaware.exe" /f REG ADD %KEY%\050 /V 3 /D "taskkill /IM hh.exe" /f REG ADD %KEY%\050 /V 4 /D "taskkill /IM Ad-Aware.exe" /f
