  1. Alright.. I successfully installed 2000 Pro that has been updated with HFSLIP 2000, but now I'm having other issues. First was on my Lenovo Z565 laptop. I couldn't get any USB devices to work on it, nor could I install a graphics driver. Whenever i would try to manually install the drivers, I would receive a message stating "The specified location does not contain information about your hardware", which is stupid, because it does. I then installed 2000 on my Y570 laptop and had the same issue. No USB or graphics, same error message when trying to install. I do not recall having this issue in the past when I had 2k on 2 other new (relative to the age of 2k) computers. I didn't use HFSLIP on them though. Is it possible that HFSLIP changed something to prevent me from installing these? It wouldn't make sense that it would, but it's a theory. I installed UURollup on the Z565 and it didn't help, and I'm holding off on installing it on the Y570 in case I need to install something else first. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Also, is there any way to get a "compatibility tab" like in the newer versions of Windows or like KernelEx gave to windows 9x? That was always a lifesaver when installing things on my 98 laptop. Thanks!
  2. Voila! I messed around slipstreaming various drivers into the installation media to no avail. I have been using a USB stick to install (or attempt to install) rather than discs because USB is a lot quicker and doesn't cost anything. I decided to go ahead and burn it to a CD and select a different option in the F5 menu (I selected "Standard PC") and this time I didn't get INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE. I guess the device that was inaccessible was my USB stick. It's installing now. Hopefully it will finish! Thanks Junior!
  3. Thanks for the suggestion! I didn't see any specific option to disable ACPI, but I did select "Standard PC" which got me past the "Starting windows 2k" screen and to a BSOD saying "Inaccessible_boot_device". I will mess around with some other drivers and see if I can get past that. This is definitely a step in the right direction! Thanks!
  4. I don't like to double post, but I found a thread I forgot I had started in 2012 regarding this same issue. Tomas gave me a lot of good guidance in that thread and also possible fixes which I was too uneducated at the time to understand. I will be going over everything he said and trying the fixes again. Hopefully with better luck this time!
  5. Well, the title is pretty self explanatory. I'm attempting to install Windows 2000 pro onto my Lenovo ideapad z565, but the problem is not specific to this laptop. The ISO that I'm currently using has SP4 and has been run through hfslip 2000. Setup loads all of the drivers fine, and when it gets to "Setup is starting Windows 2000" it just hangs. I've let it set for an hour and it's still sitting there. I'll let it sit overnight just for the heck of it. The problem also persists on my Ideapad Y570, as well as on my Toshiba Satellite L505D (Which is much older than the ideapads). I don't have any desktops to try it on right now but I will be attempting it on a older (non sata) laptop here in a bit. I thought maybe it could be that the installer doesn't like that I'm attempting to install it on a computer with SATA drives, but it doesn't even get to the point to tell me that it doesn't detect any drives (which I would assume it would do if it couldn't find AHCI drivers). I have used nlite to slipstream the AHCI and raid drivers to the install files, but when I run setup it gives me the error that the AHCI driver is corrupt and the setup fails. I have also tried installing it via USB and CD, and the results are identical. USB just takes a lot less time to let me down. 4 years or so ago I had 2k installed on a Gateway P-7805u laptop as well as on a HP pavillion (dv6000?) desktop and don't recall having any issue with the installation on those. I had the same problem I'm having now on the z565 and the Toshiba at the same time (4 years ago) but didn't pursue the issue because I got it on those other computers, neither of which are working anymore (One got struck by lighting and the other had major graphics card issues). I think I had attempted to use hfslip then and UURollup but I was like 15 and stupid and couldn't figure it out. I have also set AHCI to compatibility in the bios on all 3 computers to no avail. Setup completes fine in VMWare. Any ideas? Thanks!
  6. On my 98 machine (Which I am on), I use a USB wifi stick. It's a Sagem XG760A. I purchased it off of ebay a few years ago for a couple of bucks. It works great on my computer. I dont know i you can still find one, though. Good luck!
  7. Ah, My secondary controller was stuck in PIO mode. I dont want to jynx it, but it feels a whole hell of a lot faster. I hope my HDD isnt failing.. The computer isnt 2 years old yet, and I really haven't used it that much.. I turn it off when i'm not using it, unlike my other computers, that are older and run 24/7 and knock on wood, still work. Man, You are a big help. Thanks!
  8. What is PIO mode? I'm trying to find a proper driver so that I don't have to use IDE. I tried slipstreaming the driver you gave me when I was installing 2k, but it said the file was missing when I went to install... I'm running low on discs to experiment with , and the WinSetupFromUSB program I have (Which I believe I got from here ) gives me an error saying that it "could not install grub4dos MBR"
  9. Hey, I'm trying to install Xp 64 bit on my HP desktop. When I try to install it in ACHI mode, it blue screens right after the "Setup is starting windows" screen, but in IDE mode, it installs fine. I assume I just need to slipstream a SATA driver for my chipset, seeing that it installs fine otherwise. I would just leave it installed under IDE, but for some reason everything on the computer is slow as hell. (Programs that should install in 5 minutes install in 5 hours) The processor usage is low, and it is using little ram. Anyone know what could be causing this? I'm linking it with IDE mode(But that may not be the issue). Anyone have or know where I could obtain a driver? Any help is appreciated. Here are my specs: HP Pavillion p6000 FoxConn Mobo, model 2AB1 AMD 785G chipset Southbridge model SB700 AMD Athlon || x2 220 2.8ghz 8gb ram Thanks a lot!
  10. I did a bit of looking around, and I think its a Realtek ALC888. I got that info from here, and I tried the drivers, but still, the card isnt able to start. http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=178237
  11. I went ahead and bought one of those cards. I couldn't pass it up for $4, since intel makes 2k drivers for it. (I already have them downloaded) but im still trying to get the audio to work.
  12. I havent gotten a chance to try out the driver yet, but i will in a bit. As for the wifi card, would this be a good fix? http://www.intel.com/products/wireless/wireless_n/overview.htm And the audio is not cooperating either... Uploaded with ImageShack.us Also, Can windows 2000 only handle one usb device being plugged in at a time? If I have my wifi card plugged in, and plug in my Iphone or my flashdrive, it kills my internet connection, and neither of them work until the other is removed.
  13. Also, when I do the wifi card, the installer installs fine, but
  14. Wifi drivers are downloading, but as for the audio, when you go past the "I accept to the above" screen, it says "Object moved to Here" and you click here, and it does back to the accept to download screen. Is the realtek the same model number as the intel?
  15. Tomas, Thank you so much for helping me get all of this installed and working. I more than likely would have just given up trying to install, if you hadn't helped me. Now, I would imagine that you are more than tired of helping me get drivers to work on here, but... It would be great if I had audio on this thing, and if possible, have the internal wifi card work with it (I doubt it will because it doesn't have a utility) I cant find any drivers older than vista for them. The audio card is a Intel 82801IB/IR/IH [iCH9 Family] SMBus controller, and the wifi card is a Intel WiFi Link 5100. Is it possible to make them work? Thanks!
  16. I can, Indeed. Sometime tomorrow I'll look into the other drivers I need, but for now i'm good. (Resolution is good, and my USB wifi stick works) Thanks!
  17. Oh. That worked. I had always gone to the specify a location and selected the driver that way. Installed with no problems. Thanks!
  18. Well, I got it installed ok, but it looks like we're headed down the same road as last time. The graphics driver doesn't work. In device manager, i get the "Windows was unable to locate a driver for this device".. Edit: The card is a Nvdia 9800M GTS. I assume the M is mobility, and that might explain the driver not working.
  19. I've got the driver downloading, and will slipstream it in a bit. Thanks! Once I install, I will install the latest version. Thanks! Now all I have to do is wait on my hard drive.. Edit: When I go to slipstream it, when i'm in nlite, go to the iata76_cd2kd.zip, In the driver section there are 2 drivers. iaACHI, and iaStor. Which do i use? or do I use both? I just went along with the iaACHI, but there are quite a few options to which I can use. Which is correct? Another EDIT: I just integrated both, along with all of the options shown in the below picture. (Made in a separate iso incase this wont work) Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  20. Thanks for uploading that. I'll download the latest version of UURollup when i get home in a bit. What exactly did you need to determine the sata controller? The motherboard model number, or what? The model number is MBW4201002. Thanks! Wait, So do you want me to use the v10c, or one of the daily versions of UURollup? Here are the specs on the laptop: http://support.gateway.com/s/Mobile/2009/PSeries/P-78/P-78sp24.shtml It has the Intel PM45 Express Chipset, if that is helpful for the sata drivers. Edit: Can I use the same file I already created with hfslip? It would be easier just to extract the already made ISO, use nlite put the sata driver in there, and make it back into an ISO (Would the amd sata driver conflict with anything if i did that?). On the gateway site, it shows Sata ACHI drivers for windows 7. Would they work for 2k? The link is: http://support.gateway.com/us/en/product/default.aspx?tab=1&modelId=2388
  21. Good to know the graphics will work. Thanks for uploading them! I'll go do some research. Thanks!
  22. Well. I bought me a laptop with a Nvdia card cheaper than i could have bought one of those cards for.. I hope I can find drivers for it. It's a Gateway FX MS2252. My friend said that it would stay on for a bit, and then shut off (So I bought it for $10).. I figured it was something simple (Seemed like it was overheating) so I looked at the cooling fans.. Both were clogged with fuzz and lint, and couldn't turn. I've got a 500gb hdd on the way (Friend kept the old one.) Im pretty sure it has a Nvdia 9800GTS. Are there any intel sata drivers out there for it?
  23. So, http://www.ebay.com/itm/MSI-nVidia-GeForce-6600-PCIe-128MB-SVideo-DVI-VGA-54-0205H-001-working-/300789420828?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item460872531c would work? I'll buy it if it will.
  24. Well i assumed to perform well doing 3D stuff, it would have to do graphics just as well. But hey, if it stays cheap enough, It's better than nothing. I know PCI-E 1x exist, and i found out they price was pretty far up there as well, so I think i'll stay away from them. Haha. My PCI 16x has never been used, so i would assume i dont need it for anything other than a graphics card. I didn't know that all three were inter compatible. Thats cool. Is your card a PCI-E 16x?
