  1. Anyone know what Registry key is used to Disable the Windows Firewall on just 1 of the Network cards on my system. I did a RegShot/before/after compare and could not find it. Many thanks, MrChris
  2. If I am in/on a network that blocks a lot of outbound UDP traffic how can I find out what UDP ports they will permit without asking? I checked a few different UDP port scanners but they all want a host name, what host name would I put? or am I going about it the wrong way? Thanks, MrChris
  3. Most all of the networks I go to I am unable to control/change the routers/firewalls since most of them are police depts big and small. Well I guess I could use one of those UDP tunneling apps from above and just run the server side of it from one of my local servers that I can control including the router/firewall and use that when I am at a site where I cannot controle the network or firewall. I jsut need to figure out how to use one of them in conjuntion with hamachi. Thanks for the replys and info. MrChris
  4. Well. I have tried the Magic option with various different ports. I believe the problem is that hamachi uses UDP ports to access its bibi.hamachi.cc mediation server. I have posted some questions over there already but was still waiting for any advise. I just know that there are some pretty GEEKY people over here on this board and thought I would ask. MrChris My Ideas was that of...... I am not a programmer by any means (shy of a little AutoIt stuff) but Have a little systray app or so that could run as a local server or so that could redirect/convert a UDP port to a TCP port. like If Hamachi or any other app is trying to access bibi.hamachi.cc I could add a entry in my HOST file to point bibi.hamachi.cc to 127.0.0.1 on port 1234 for example and this little systray app would listen for this connection and relay it out of my network via a TCP port.
  5. Hamachi VPN! I have a few client sites I go to that have locked down local LAN's and I cannot get hamachi to work for the life of me! MrChris
  6. If I have a Application that connects to the internet via a UDP port but the LAN I am on it blocking outboubd UDP traffic on all UDP ports is there ANY way I would be able to work around this if? Right now all I can do is change the UDP port to anything I want but it stays as a UDP port. Best of Regards, MrChris
  7. Are there any alternatives to MS VCdControlTool.exe that does not require to be installed on the local machine? Preferably something with a GUI. I am looking for something that I can put on my usb flash drive to mount an ISO image on any windows machine I walk upto.
  8. Read this thread. http://www.thetechguide.com/howto/setuppini.html MrChris
  9. The only main reason I use NTFS on my 2GB Cruzer mini is so I can use the compress attrib. If I was to convert it to FAT or FAT32 is there any way I can compress the data on the disk without using any type of ZIP or RAR compression? MrChris
  10. So can one call such a function from a batch script or autoit script without using any third party programs or exe's? I basicly want to be able to do the same eject from inside my script that windows does when you right click on the drive from explorer. Thanks again. MrChris
  11. I have a 2GB USB Sandisk Cruzer Micro and when I plug it in and go into My Computer and Right Click on the drive I have an option to Eject. My question is What function does it call? I am trying to utilize the same function call (if that is what it is) in a batch script or AutoIt script that way I don't need to use any third part apps or EXEs to eject the media. 12. Well I broke down and bought a SAMSUNG SH-W162L LIGHTSCRIBE 16X DVD±RW DUAL LAYER+NERO from EBay. Hope it works. only coast $50. Those black cdr's are pretty nice. I wouldnt think that it would be that hard to make Black DVD-Rs or Black CD-RW's. MrChris
  13. sweet thanks for the reply. I figured they would but since I do not yet have one I figured I would ask the rest of the world. One last thing. Do they make Black writeable DVDs? Kinda like the Black CD-Rs I have a tone of, Thanks for the reply,
  14. I have not yet purchased a Dual Lauyer DVD Burner but plan to since they are going for next to nothing around online (found a 16x ide dual layer butner for 50$) but I had one major concern. How do I know if other dvd-rom readers on laptops and desktop computers that only can read dvd media will be able to read a Dual Layer disk? Will most dvd readers read dual layer media? Thanks, MrChris
  15. Is there any util out there that will parse/scan a folder structure and check for duplicate files and if duplicates are detected then create ntfs junction points for them thus saving space on the drive. I have a USB key that has a lot of installers for a ton of apps most of them use the same files such as "instmsia.exe" and "instmsiw.exe" there are like 50+ copies of these files and others. And to save space I was thinking of creating NTFS junction points/links but since there are so many it could take a while.
  16. I dont have an HP. As stated above I have a 2GB SanDisk Cruzer micro. Im not so sure that will change how windows see the device. But I will definitly give it a shot.
  17. No My BIOS has no USB type options other than to enable USN 2.0 suport. Iv looked every where in my BIOS too. Someone had said something about being able to get a hold of a software tool to change this on the device itself. You know of such a software peice? MrChris
  18. I have a 2GB SanDisk Cruzer micro and Windows XP/2003 see's it as a Removable Device and not a fixed disk. I am in need of creating more than one partition on it. How can I change the way Windows See the media? I read that you need to change a bit on the device itself, but what software can I use to do this? SanDisk does not provide any software to do this. MrChris
  19. UltraISO has an option called "Advanced Hidden" where you can make files hidden in a sense that when viewing hidden files they still dont show up. But thats only in an ISO file does such a app or function exsist in XP? Thanks, MrChris
  20. @ jaclaz Thanks for the reply. Its a SanDisk Cruzer 2GB USB Micro. From what I have found/not found SanDisk does not make any utitilies that I was able to locate to change "Removable/Fixed bit". Will the "Hitachi Microdrive Filter" work on a SanDisk USB Drive? Where could one locate this software? My System does not support booting of usb drive Thanks,
  21. Since Windows XP see's it as a Removable Device is there any utils that will allow me to create more than one partition on the usb key with out pustting data integerity at risk? Like maybe force windows to see it as a fixed disk? Maybe? Thanks, MrChris
  22. I searched the forum but didnt find much. I have a 2GB usb Sandisk cruzer micro skined. I want to partition it with all its space but like 10mb or so. So i can use TrueCrypt to partition the rest. Windows XP Disk Manager does not seem to give me the option to partition it (just format it). I even tried paragon disk manager but It doesnt even see the usb key. Acronis Disk Director doesnt see the key either. What can I use to create multiple partitions on my 2GB USB Key? Thanks, MrChris
  23. When connecting to a remote share on a XP Home or Pro share is prompts to logon, which is fine but it has GUEST as the user name and it is grayed out all I can out in is the password for the guest account. How can I change this so that I can put in any user name and password that is valid on the system without using the command prompt NET USER N: \\MACHINE\SHARE? Thanks, MrChris
  24. When creating a Scheduled Task in Windows XP/2003 Where is the data for that task actualy stored? What I am after is to create a scheduled task under XP/2003 and export that data to a file and import onto/into a new xp/2003 machine? Anyone know? Thanks, MrChris Title edited -- Please, use [TAGS] in your topic's title. Please follow XP Forum Rules from now on. --Sonic
  25. After digging and digging, It looks like I'm asking for a tad too much. I think that If I can find a power supply internal or external that will support both a DVD Burner and a IDE/ATA/SATA drive at the same time I can fabricate a case together maybe. O well I'll keep looking. I would think such a thing would be really nice to have. That way you can always access DVD/CD media for burning purposes and a large drive for storage purposes. Thanks again, MrChris
