I have used the 4074 for a while, and nope i don't gonna switch over strait away. First i gonna do is read and read, on MSFN wich bugs there are and what is already solved. Then when it's really becoming a stable, low on recours running OS then i will start to think about switching over. There are 2 reasons first is the fact that with so many OS of M$ there first have to come out a lot of patches and upgrades before it become's stable and second Billy is already so rich, but he can't lower his prices

Geez making it hard Just boot into safe mode F8 and defrag then no need for special prog or anything

I just finneshd installing windows 98Se on a Packerd Hell, now when ever i have to restart it it keeps on hanging in the Windows is now busy to shutdown screen. I already installed the shutdown patch, but that didn't help Any one know the solution Thx infront

I can check that out if it's the Dimm or the motherboard. Still i find it strange though that windows 2000 would install without any trouble. I will let run Seesoft sandra over it and let's see what come up. It's around 2 years old Thx for the help but if somebody knows something else i can check out for sure i wanna know.

Both of the CD's have been used succesfull, with no problems at all whille installing. Also i have repartioniced the HDD and still it didn't want to install for now it beats me what that problem could be. Especially cause the basic install (Bootinstall of win2K and win XP) are almost the same as far as i know.

I had 2 copy's the original and a slipstream version, both didn't want to work. That's what i find so strange about it, i know the slipstream version is perfect. So i really don't understend why that computer don't want to install windows XP it's a 2,6 GhZ pentium with 512 MB Mem and a 80G hardisk so it's also not that the computer is to slow or something.

I got a wierd problem Let me start with explaining what happend, again i'm trying to help somebody out who listen to his nieghbour and format his computer with a windows 98SE floppy. While he owns a Windows XP CD ( not so smart but oke) That same nieghbour said to hime then you can install windows XP back again with that same floppy (totaly not smart) Of course that didn't work, so that same nieghbour found the boot floppy's of win XP itself, and offert that to him, but he wasn't able to install his windows XP again. Here is where i'm comming into the picture. Ofcourse first i treid to install windows XP thru the CD-Rom itself, but no luck it did the basic install from the cd-rom (bleuscreen part) and then when it keeps on hanging on to the point Windows Setup. No legalisation screen or anything just those few words and noting more into that bleu screen. Then i treid to format the HDD with partion magic dos but after letting it load it came up with the error that there was a buffer overflow error. So that didn't work too, now come's the strange part i have made a multiboot CD-Rom with windows 95,98SE,WinMe,Win2K,Win2kServer. So i thought gonna try to install Win2K on it then, and strangly it formated thru Win2K boot and installed Win2K without any troubles. Still i would like to be able to install WinXP on it again, where or what is wrong why i can't install windows XP any one have any idea's P.S even after i have installed Win2K and try to start a install from out win2K it hang's in the same way.

Been a wise man i bought a new mobo B) And it's working like a charm right now. It even passed the burn-in test 10 times so i think ( i just hope ) that it now will be in order. And the little freind of mine soon will pass by his teaching master me So thx with all the answers you gave me i learn a lot. P.S Bought a Asus

when i have been using it for a while with not doing much on it it becoms around 47 degrees. Also when i do the burn in test (stress test) of sisoft Sandra then after the second time it restarted so that make something clear i will put a program on it for the heat testing and see what happens while i do the stress test again. Also gonna get some new heating pasta to see if that will help. Thx so far but if anybody have new ideas of what it can be i'm always willing to look further and learn more.

@puntoMX Nope i'm not the smartest but that i know Vcore switching between 1.74 and 1.76V Vcc 3.3 stable 3.3V +5 V stable 5V +12 V switching between 12.82 amd 12.88 -12 V stable -12.28 VBAT(V) stable 3.26 5VSB(v) Stable 5.07 It's a award bios from 2003 Is it possible that the unstable +12v and Vcore giving this trouble ?

A little update i finnely was able to let it work a little oke So i installed sisisoftsandra. It didn't gave me any big errors though still one kept on returning and even when i chanced the memory It says that all memorybanks are full but i'm just using 1 DDR stick of 512MB You can also put SDRAM in to it cause it have 2 DDR slots and 2 SDRAM slots the still it come up with the same error. Strange is also when i put the DDR memory into the second slot and start it up i get as expected a error beep from the motherboard then when i put it back in slot 1 the computer keeps on working for a while then when i start the computer up latter again the same problems are there again. So somehow it has to be in the memory arry but what exactly cause i have treid 2 types of memory both with the same error The motherboard is Jetway 867AS-H So i wonder where to look for Thx for the help though @puntoMX (marzelaar )

When i format it i do a total clean install so indeed even the drivers. I will try that memtest to see if anything gonna come out of that. I have treid already to let it run with almost no hardware conected only the floppy and the videocard Dimm and it kept on working in bios mode. So it's no losse or old solder. When i first got it the format the disk wrong so from the 30G there was just around 6G avalible after checking the HD with a test program of the factory it checked out well so i made it a whole HDD again and then i was able to run Windows at least 24 hours without any trouble. even was able to restarted it many times. Yhen i put it out and say 24 hours later i put it on again the trouble start again restarting out of nothing in windows even when it was just starting up from the bios to go to windows it restarted, and even when i was in the bios itself it restarted or just hang in the bios. So yes it's indeed a strange problem and i hope to find the answer on it cause it's for a little freind of mine who i really like he can become one of a smartkid

@puntoMX That's where i was thinking off to from the start i got that computer for repear. Still if i finnely able to put on the computer and let it run for 24 hours in bios mode then there is no trouble (the temp got up to around 47), also when i format it, then it keeps on running for more then 24 hours in windows itself. So i still wonder if it can't be anything else. (LoL ik verwachte geen nederlands )

I got some strange problem with a AMD computer of 1400 Mhz Out of itself it's restarting or just hang in windows. It has a 30G HDD with no errors or virus (checked that) It has 512MB DDR memory wich has no troubles as far as i know It had a power supply of 250 Watt but i chanced it to 300 Watt and now it even don't want to start up. Can you guys give me any advice where to look for ? Any help would be welcome Thx in advance

I don't get the warning box of that the computer has to shutdown in 60 sec. that's why i know it's not the blaster virus. Also when it's the blaster virus it restarts and not totaly shut down. It's really shutdown and for a while i can't put it on. So indeed it's really looking like a heating problem of the CPU. It can't be the videocard cause i have put in a new one. It's a Pentium 500Mhz, 256Mb 10G hdd running on windows 98SE

I'm trying to repear a pentium 3 computer of a freind of mine, that has the trouble to after a while it shuts down. No restart or so just shutting down, i have format it, and then it toke a little longer before it shut down but, now it's shut down after a few moments again. Where do i have to look, i get no beeping sounds that the temperature is to high or anything. There is also nothing that point to a virus like the blaster. What else can i check out. Thx for the help

I have the problem with my DVD-Burner (Nec-1100A) that it doesn't want to burn my DVD's without errors The DVD-Burner is the slave of my second IDE-port, so from NEC i got the advice to chance the DVD-Burner to make it the Master of the second IDE-port ( DVD-Player is now Master). So i replaced the pins of my DVD-Player to make that the slave and chanced the pin of my DVD-Burner to make it the Master. easy i thought Now i end up with the problem, that when i try to start up windows, it starts up into the windows but as soon as it's almost done startingup and start to make clear it found a new DVD-Rom and after that a DVD-Burner it restarts and keep on doing that over and over Is there anyway i can prevent this or make it work so i don't have to install everything all over, cause i know that if you make to big of hard ware chances that you have to install windows all over again. But i believe this is a not to big of hardware chance though Any help would be apriciat

If your looking for songs it's best to use shareaza it's easy to use and you can connect to more P2P networks. with all P2P networks it's depending on how populair a surten song is cause the more people have it the faster you can connect to 1 of those people and start downloading. Emule is better for program's With a lot of P2P program's like kazaa and limeware you have to search for the things you want to download then you still don't know sure if that what you found is the real thing, also if it's a good quality. On the indexpage they callected links to a different kind of things and because they have been checked out you know sure the qaulity Symantec Antivus Corparate isn't especially with so much more functions, it's just better with scanning and the recource's

I myself are big user of Emule, and find that 1 of the best P2P, especially cause you have index page's with direct links that put the download you have found on the page strait into your download program. You know then for sure that the program or other things you found are verifeid downloads and it's what it says it is without any viruses. the only trouble for you is the fact your on a dailup, with every P2P program there is a waitinglist and it also deepends a lot on how much you upload For the antivirus it deepends on what kind of machine, indeed Norton is a very high Resources Hog, still it's very easy to use and a lot of things go automaticly AVG i don't know so i can't give you any good info about that. If you can get a copy of symantec corporate it's 1 of the best it's a little bit more work but so much better to use for the indexing page of emule (ED2K network) just google and you will find

Kamasta He can try virtualdub, but then he has to rip the VCD or DVD to his hardisk. it's a lot more work but the quality of the sound is then a lot better for ripping DVd's i recomend Xcopy i don't know sure if the same program can also rip VCD. But when he has a mpeg2 codec he can rip it strait from the vcd for a lot of info check out Videohelp<----Ripping audio and so on Hope this helps

Thx for the advice but my all the software that i have is to big to put it all on my comp So what i need is a program in wich i can put all the CD's i have and can also add new software, and if possibale with covers. For people who know the software from collectorz.com knows what i mean if i say it have to be something like movie collector. pithy i can't use that as a software database.

Got a very good Audio and Video database, really need 1 for my software so only software
