Yup, i made the theme, to mimic old Windows. The default 8.1 look is ugly like hell
But is the same with stock theme, no difference
Just to check there is not a problem from something i did, I make a factory reset, but same problem, every window is maximized with a clean window
I check with msconfig if there is any software that made this, but nothing, i check with regedit same but i dont see nothing abnormal
In desktop im a XP user, thats why my knowledge of 8.1 is still limited, i dont have 8.1 in any other PC to test, just in tablet

Update the main post, with images, i think is easy to see the problem
Any ideas? this "feature"...ejem... prevent me to use windows 8.1 normally, because two old software i need to work, hangs

I bought a Windows 8.1 tablet, and im happy, but I have a problem
Every windows is maximized . Every time i open a new application, open maximized, even if the program dont have any maximize button
It seems like windows "force" every windows to maximize
Not only explorer windows, everything..
for example, VirtualPC, instead of open in a normal window (the tablet have a resolution of 800x480)
I get a maximized window, even is obvious that the virtualPC dont have any maximize button, or is possible to do in normal way
Any ideas?
This is a problem, because some times, this "feature" hangs some old software, like Paint Shop Pro

Ok, finally i discover where is the common dialog toolbar bitmap
The file name is comctl32.dll... but no the one in system32, but one locate... hidde.... in WinSxS folder

two questions, im a little lost. Im using XP 64bits
1 - There is any way to hide the task switch in taskbar?
Im using Truelaunchbar that have a much better task manager, and i want to hide the window one
And ...
2 - Im getting crazy to change the common dialog buttons. In Xp 32bits is easy, but in 64bits i havent found where... im tired of open dll... jeje

Hi, something that I hate from 7 is when i do the logon, for 1 or 2 seconds, screen do a fade to black, and show desktop
Ayone have any idea hot to disable this?
And other, is how i can get the old, 32x32 icons? I say in normal icon view

I live in two country
In Spain:
My main PC have XP SP3, is a Pentium D with 2GB ram, i use for everything, burn CD/DVDs, scan, print, web, programing, multimedia etc
In my bedroom, I have a two computers, first a AMD 5x86 133 with 32mb ram, with DOS and Win95, i use for dos games, and listen to music, mp3 and mods
Second, a Thin Client, a futro S500, Athlon 1ghz, 512mb ram, with XP SP3, I use it for emulators. Is connected to a Sony Trinitron TV, using RGB at 15khz
In Japan:
A nice All in one computer, Pentium 4 with 1GB, using XP SP3, for everything, burn, scan, print, programming, etc
In my bedroom I have two computers, first a Ibook G3 900 with OS9.2.2, that i use almost all time for music, and a Toshiba 50CT with DOS and Win95, for old DOS games
And for both country, a great Pentium M 1.2ghz laptop with Win2k SP4, when im not in home, same function like destop, programming, web, music/videos, etc

This is amazing, I tested in my ibook G3 and works great. My toshiba 50CT with windows 3.1 never render so fast
Now a windows version of the script will be a must, i dont use OSX almost never (in fact, i still have the ibook just for OS9)

I live in Japan and Spain, one month each country for work (sorry my english)
I´m DOS/Windows user since.. puff... late eighties. I love OS/2, BeOS, OS6-9 and many other OS too
I collect/trade retro videogames, and work as programmer in a game company part-time

Ok, i get another Tablet from same maker, this one is 7" 1280x800 (my tablet..phone is 5" 800x480), and same problem
About VirtualPC, for one second, when open, the size is the correct, and then, maximize, then i have a micro-second to capture

About Foobar, i think keeps the size and position the software itself, because when it open for a second the main window is maximized, and then return to normal size
It happen to all software that save size/position in the ini, open maximized, and then return to normal size
I updated windows and same problem
For now i tried
1 - My tablet 800x480 and second tablet 1280x800... both do same... maximize all windows
2 - Update windows 8.1
3 - Check with msconfig and regedit, no software doing strange stuff from maker
Nothing
I dont have Windows 8.1 to install in my PC and test.... it happen in all windows? besides my tablet, i never use 8.1 in any other PC, thats why i ask
EDIT: A good example, is the Street Fighter 4 launcher
the launcher need to look like this, a small window in middle of desktop...
But, looks like this... maximized to full desktop....
This is not correct or normally POSSIBLE to do, because the window have no maximize button!! (this on 1280x800 tablet)
