  1. Hi electroglyph,

why do you still include CoreCodec's WavPack decoder when the DCoder one does the job fine?
    • The CoreCodec - WV Decoder is only responsible for embedded WavPack Audio (witin MKV-files for example).

The same can be said of the FFDShow Audio Decoder in case of embedded FLAC Audio and True Audio.

So the DCoder - Bass Source Filter is perfectly capable of handling WavPack files (*.WV), but for MKV[some_encoded_video+WavPack]-files (embedded WavPack Audio) the CoreCodec - WV Decoder is still needed.
and there seems to be a small glitch in your CDXA folder, there is a file called "cdxareader.ax (Gabest(clsid) - CDXA Source Filter 1.0.0.2 - 18092007)" which i presume is the updated filter?
Yes you're right! :o Can't believe I forgot to rename the new one and delete the old one that time... Thanks a lot!

For everyone: delete "cdxareader.ax" and rename "cdxareader.ax (Gabest(clsid) - CDXA Source Filter 1.0.0.2 - 18092007)" to "cdxareader.ax", then you can install the whole package (or only this one) in which case the newest CDXA Source Filter will be registered. It's not a big disaster, but still. I apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused.

(also, you should enable DCoder's AAC support, as it allows seeking and FFDShow does not)
If you really want the DCoder - Bass Source Filter to handle AAC (and MP3 perhaps), you have to unregister the Gabest(clsid) - MPA Splitter and the DCoder - Bass Source Filter, then open up the "Registration.ini" in the Bass Source Filter directory and change aac=0 (and mp3=0) to aac=1 (and mp3=1). After that, register the DCoder - Bass Source Filter again.

I don't have any problems time-seeking through a AAC or a MP3 file with the MPA Splitter and FFDShow though.

    p.s. I don't know what props means :P

  2. I'm sorry Sciddow, but I don't have Windows Vista at the moment, and I'm not planning on using it any time soon (at least not for now).

Ever since my last update there haven't been any updated mediafilters, and as far as I know all of them are primarily created for WinXP.

I just can't tell you, because I don't have Windows Vista. Of course you're free to try them out on Windows Vista ;)

Maybe I'm going to add the DC-Bass Source Filter from DCoder to my DSFP in the next release, but that depends on a couple of things.

This single mediafilter will replace a couple of other filters, which means smaller filesizes in the end. All we can do is wait.

  3. Hi AndrewW,

Are you sure the DS-filters are installed perfectly? You can check this with "DirectShow Filter Manager." (included with DSFP)

And of course "DivX", in your case, needs to ticked within the FFDShow setup.

Have you also tried to play those files with other (plugin-based)programs?

Do you happen to have a sample of this mp3- and avi-file(DivX)? If so, please pm me so I check them out.

They might even be corrupted for all we know!

For iso-files you'll need an emulation-program like Alcohol or UltraISO, etc.

  4. FFDShow - though it is technically a "direct show filter pack" and not a codec pack :)

and i also use MPlayer frontend MPUI.

    You're half right.
ffdshow is a DirectShow and VFW codec for decoding/encoding many video and audio formats, including DivX and XviD movies using libavcodec, xvid and other opensourced libraries with a rich set of postprocessing filters.

Most people will of course us it for decoding purposes, but you can also encode stuff via VFW with VirtualDub for instance.

  5. DSFP 2.5 (it's corone's + ffdshow made into a silent installer) and weighs in at only 5.2mb.

    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DCIS5U9Q

    here's the changelog:

Update 9 / 29 / 06: DSFP 2.5 now available. FFDShow has been upgraded again. There is now an entry made in Add/Remove Programs which will uninstall both DSFP and FFDShow. Removed ugly black CMD prompt from install/uninstall. Installer now resets the DirectShow system in case there are any problems with it.

Update 9 / 18 / 06: DSFP 2.31 now available. CoreFLAC filter replaced with Illiminable FLAC source filter. It is faster and more stable.

Update 9 / 15 / 06: DSFP 2.2 now available. Mpasplitter.ax is downgraded to a much more stable version. FFDShow upgraded to latest MMX build. Next update will include a more stable FLAC filter.

    hmm...oke o_O
  6. zoom player + my more stable version of corone's filter pack ;)

    for everything.

there's only one downside i've ever found to using directshow filters for everything: p*** poor support for regular music cds. the gabest cda filter is really horrible, but now that i know how to manually register directshow filters i'll probably dig up a better one.

    Hello #rootworm,

What exactly is so horrible about the CDDA Filter? I'm not the one who uses this filter every day, because I never listen to CD's to be honoust, but of course I tested it before putting it in my DSFP. I didn't encounter anything serieus.

  7. For over 4 years now I've been using the Realtek ALC650 (nVidia SoundStorm) on my Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe.

It produces magnificent sound. Many times I've been accused of "radar-user" because I could (and still can) hear people very good around the corner. I'm not sure about the Intel HDA (high definition audio), but back then the nVidia nForce2 MPC was the best onboard solution available. It even got put up against the Creative Audigy 2 in this review, and they're quite on par with eachother.

  8. AFAIK mjpeg and mpeg2 codecs are not free available on the net. OK, FFDSHOW does it but is it allowed?

    Any suggestions?

Then I think you didn't search thoroughly enough. There sure are a few around for free.
  9. Haha, well you see, Fridge talks/blabs quite a lot, sometimes a little too much :P

I don't play HL2DM or CS:S, heck I don't even own the game (I did play HL2 singleplayer about 1/1,5 years ago though), so I guess Fridge was a little too eager on that one.

TacticalOps I have been playing now for over 6 years (maybe even 7), and this I play almost daily. And about the short temper :P... I don't mind being killed at all, but if this is due to a stupid action of myself, I sometimes can get a little agitated (quite normal reaction imo :P). Perhaps I demand a too high level of skill of myself...

And a little something about the ping story: in august 2004 we got ADSL (broadband), but before that we had 56k and so I always played with a ping of ± 150ms and I still pwned! :sneaky:

Well this is quite a surprise then. I didn't know Fridge played HL2.

Although I did like HL2 singleplayer, I also heared from people from TO who f***edup their aim by playing CS:S for a while and then returning to TO. But who knows, maybe I'll drop by some time.

    P.s. I couldn't resist:

  10. There isn't a DirectShow decoder for FLV (VP6)
    Changelog

    v2.1 (06052006)

    • NEW: Gabest - FLV Splitter 1.0.0.1 (03052006)

FLVSplitter.ax contains "FLV Source" filter, FLV Splitter, and FLV Video Decoder.

Also, please enable "FLV1" in the FFDShow Video Configuration.

  11. "Joined: 5-July 06"...haha.

Those are quite some words you throw at me there! I guess it turns out you can't take criticism very well, because the only thing I told you was that it's not "codecs" which are integrated within MPC of VLC, but splitter- and decoder-filters, or can you make some MP3 out of a WAV file with MPC or a MKV[XviD+Ogg] out of a DVD with VLC? I don't think so.

Also please tell me where it turns out I'm wrong anyway?

Besides you're telling me what to do? Who do you think you are? I'm not posting that much on these forums anyway. I just felt like I needed to clarify this codec/splitter/decoder-thingy up a little, and if you disagree with me, please proof me wrong, instead of shutting me up.

I do have a hunch where I think I was wrong according to you.

Also I believe MPlayer has the ability to transcode certain formats.
This is correct, MPlayer indeed has the ability to do this, but this doesn't mean these codecs are somehow integrated within MPlayer. You all have to download them separately.
  12. TAin, nothing really important, but I'd would like to point out that:

There's no such thing as "a filter" (in photoshop you have filters :P). My package contains only decoder-filters, but there are also encoder-filters available. It's either "codec" (capable of encoding and decoding media content), or "decoder(filter)" (only capable of decoding media content), or either "encoder(filter)" (encoderfilters you don't see that often but they do exist. These you can use with GraphEdit for example.)

So if the MSFN codec pack doesn't have any codecs/encoders (MSFN codec pack?...), then I guess we fall in the same category. (btw. what's YMMV?)

  13. Then I guess you must have done something wrong, because all the needed files are present in the archive, including the DSFP_inst.bat. I've shortly tested this stuff before putting it online and I didn't have any problems.

What exactly do you mean by "requires quotes because of the space"? What space?

  14. Thank you for your pack

    You're welcome.

I am waiting for your "tweak guide", I hope it will be soon

Yeah well, I'm still not sure whether I should finish this or not.

Some time ago by reading the Tactical Ops forums I discovered people were really interested in having a tweak-guide for them to get as much out of the old Unreal Tournament engine as possible. At the moment there are 2 threads you can take a look into:

    - Tweaks, tweaked ini's and tips for everyone :)

    - INI Updates

Although these will give you some information into how to tweak your TO installation, it's far from being enough.

The first thread the guy explains some things about how to clean your computer from spyware and such, but furthermore he just hands out some personal tweaked ini-files and most people just use them like that. Well that's pretty stupid, because tweaks are very personal and computer hardware/computer configuration dependant. I've also looked into these ini's shortly and there were quite some things that were far from optimum.

But the thing I'm really concerned about is the fact Tactical Ops: Crossfire has been released for UT2004.

You see TO is quite old, in fact, it's dying. And I'm not quite sure if it's worth all the effort to release a tweak-guide because of these reasons.

P.S: I want to learn quite more about splitters, filters...

At the moment the only links I quickly found are:

    Good luck.
