Thanks for all the help, but I'm using an x-fi sound card. Sorry I blew it and didn't sayso in my first post.

I got tired of looking for a solution amd I'm using the onboard sound.

I don't know if you have a non intel CPU or not. But in addition to what -x- posted, you might try this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/953356

I tried XP mode the other day and found it was configured to use 256MB of ram Configuring it with 2Gb of ram sped it up quite a bit

My sound card works in both the 32bit and 64bit versions of xp and in the 32biy\t version of win 7 RC. But in win7 64bit when I play a sound file. It plays for a few seconds then becomes distorted and then the sound stops. I'm using the latest drivers from creative as of 7/22/2009. I found this solution in the creative labs forums which worked for me. Using msconfig limit memory to 4095MB. when I go back to 4096 \MB the problem returns

I'm not going to order one unless I can be fairly certain it will work with an external hard drive. Most of the reviews I've read don't say anything about that. The one that do say it didn't work with one. Searching in google leads me to believe its a with notebook pcmcia usb2.0 adapters and external drives that take power from the usb port. I'm also thinking firewire maybe the better way to go.

I installed a larger had drive in my lapptop and placed the old one in a expternal enclosure. I bought an adaptor card (CompUSA brand) the computer never sees it and sometimes shuts down when plugged into the new card. But it works on the built in USB 1.1 port. Other devices work fine in the new USB 2.0 port ( extenal floppy, mouse and USB memory stick) I thought it was a power problem so I bought an 5volt 1AMP adaptor for the PCMCIA card but that didn't help. The external drive had no power connector and takes power from the USB port. I'm worried about buying another card that has the same problem after reading different reviews on Newegg. So can anyone recommend a card that will work. Or should I go with firewire?

I had the same experience when I upgraded a umachine from XP to Vista I also had a similar experience installing XP that thurned out to be s driver problem. Ended up hving to disable all unnesessary MB settings and removing all add in cards except for the graphics card. After I was able to install xp and then enabled each iten and install the driver. I think it ended up being a network card, but not 100% sure.

@Tomcat76 I made the changes you listed, but I still had the same problem. So I removed all my regtweaks and application installs and that solved the problem. Now I just need to find whick tweak or app is the cause.

Should I be able to replace the previous IE7 cummulative update in the HF folder with the current one without any problems? The reason I ask is when I did that, after I installed XP Windows update said I needed three updates KB944533 IE7 Cummulative update KB890046 Vulnerability in Microsoft agent KB903235 vulnerability in Jview If I manually install just the kb944533 hotfix and restart the computer windows update says I don't need any updates. I also tried integrateing kb944533 into the CD using the /intefgrate switch with the same result of needing the three updates. and having to manually install the KB944533 hotfix. I aslso placed the new KB946026 critical update and the new kb890830 malicious software removal tool into the HS folder just in case that could be the cause of my problem

The only thing I can think of right now is your runonceex.cmd is not in the root of the $OEM$ directory. The same place as cmdlines.txt. If it's not you have to specify the path to it. Or you've misspelled the name of the command file. -

Don't see anything wrong there. But where is your Runonceex.cmd You also never said what the last error was you were getting Yes apps installed through runonceex are normally installed at first logon. -
Humm I would like to speed virtual PC up not slow it down. But I have some ideas 1 Keep practicing the game until your better at it 2 reduce the amount of memory available to virtualPC 3 Run a spyware/virus scan while your playing 4 load other applications while running the game

Depends why don't you post a copy of your cmdlines.txt file Also I noticed in you runonceex.cmd file you have SET PP=%cdrom%\Install\ REG ADD %KEY%\000 /V 1 /D "%PP%install\WGAPluginInstall.exe /Q" /f Which would end up as %cdrom%\Install\install\WGAPluginInstall.exe /Q don't know if thats what you want or not. -

I'd add just the critical updatresand if that worked add teh other a group at a time, ie WMP11 files etc. If I remember correctly I had a problem integrating WMP11 and ended up using one of the switchless installers abvailable. There are a couple available in application addons under the nlite forum
