  1. Is it possible to place the registry on a different partition than documents & settings (if that's where it is)? I have my D & S on d:\ but I would like to be able to restore an image of C:\ with a clean registry, but without having to reinstall windows....
  2. Hurray!!!! I finally solved this by reverting back to the previous nForce drivers v.6.66. This is the first post ever posted from this computer!
  3. It seems this is due to the fact that the nForce drivers are not digitally signed and are therefore replaced by windows during the setup. So in effect non-working drivers are installed in their place..... It is always nice when my software protects me from me.... Anyway, I've tried the nLite way, but I don'w like it because it does a lot of things to my DVD that I can't controll and I don't know how to undo them if I run into problems. So can anyone with a DFI Lanparty UT nF4 ULTRA D please let me know how they installed the drivers?
  4. For once it seemed my install was flawless, but then....as setup reboots and gets ready to load the installed OS for the first time it goes into a reboot loop just after files are beginning to load from the HDD. I've tried starting windows in safe mode, but the same thing happens. It reboots before I can se the normal window boot screen with the blue scroll bar. When starting in safe mode the last driver i can se getting loaded is MUP.SYS. I'm suspecting that the next driver is the problem, meaning that we could be talking about a driver starting with an "n". I've slipstreamed the nVidia raid drivers for my DFI lanparty UT 4, but I can't understand what I've done wrong to cause this. Can someone please help me troubleshoot? Thanks
  5. I managed to trace this down to a syntax error in the TXTSETUP.SIF file. So problem solved!
  6. I've tried everything I can think of, including replacing the entire core of my DVD without any louck. As soon as setup finishes formatting I get this message: Setup cannot create folder: windows\system32\inetsrv Setup cannot continue before folder has been created. The core of this install was working fine on another computer. I slipstreamed the nForce4 Sata drivers. And changed some small things, like username, the RunOnceEx, Winnt.sif etc. Does anybody have an idea of what is going on? Any help will be greately appreciated. I've been grappling with this for days! B
  7. Could someone please give me the swithc for silently installing the Dscaler directshow filter? I'm using version 5006. ADDITION: I would also very much like to know the swithces for the Xvid filter. TIA
  8. But I'm not installing the .Net Framework update. I'm manually updating post installation using the Windows Update feature. I'm using XP SP2 though. I'm still having troubles with this. After deleting the Last Session.ini file I'm logged on as I'm supposed to, but the new account does not belong in the admin group which means that I'm not allowed to install my apps.
  9. Do you mean that this is created by one of the apps that are on my cd? I don't see how that can be since the apps are installed from RunOnceEx.cmd which is run AFTER the first logon to a user account. I've searched through my regtweaks file and there are no references to either this accountname or this password. Do any of the drivers create admin accounts? Anyway, this actually seems to be the default admin account that has been renamed! I can't remember if and how I set this to happen when I created my first unattended a long time ago, but I've used that as a foundation for all my unattended CDs and never had this problem before! EDIT! : I found the culprit. Somehow a file called Last Session.ini has made its way into the root folder of my CD! I don't know where it came from but it contains the unknown admin account. This must be a remnant from an earlier attemtp at using nLite or something like that!
  10. When installing windows as a dual boot to a second HD two user accounts are created. Bebbeadmin and HTPC I don't know why the first one is created, and I cannot find any reference to it in any of my files. This causes problems with RunOnceEx because the unwanted Bebbeadmin account takes precedence and I dont get admin privilegies when running the HTPC account. It is not because it detects my other Windows installation. I've tried installing after unplugging that HD. These are my files: useraccounts.cmd: net user HTPC xxxxxxxx /add net localgroup Administrators HTPC /add net accounts /maxpwage:unlimited\ REGEDIT /S regtweaks.reg EXIT From regtweaks.reg: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 ;-------------AUTOLOGON--------------------------------------------------------- [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] "DefaultUserName"="HTPC" "DefaultPassword"="xxxxxxx" "AutoAdminLogon"="1" "ForceAutoLogon"="1" "DontDisplayLastUserName"="0" From Winnt.sif: [GuiUnattended] AdminPassword="xxxxxxxxx" EncryptedAdminPassword=NO OEMSkipRegional=1 TimeZone=105 OemSkipWelcome=1 ProfilesDir="D:\Documents and Settings\" [UserData] FullName="Bebbe HTPC" OrgName="None" ComputerName=HTPC ProductKey=xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx
  11. I deefragmented the drive and did a cold boot. The problem of the missing files is now gone. If anyone else experience troubles with missing files it may be a good idea to defragment the drive before creating the ISO!
  12. I've been working on an unattended CD for my HTPC setup. I duplicated and renamed my original CD directory, did all changes (didn't touch the I386 folder) and made an ISO. I'm now getting "cannot copy file" messages during install. After several tries different files are missing every time. The missing files are mostly .dlls! The last one missing was cryptui.dll. I did a search of all my CD directories, and the file is not there....it is but it is called cryptui.DL_ Has my source gone bad on me, or can I do something to remidy this? TIA
  13. Thank you for going through the trouble of searching the Meedio forum. I guess I can just make a SFX archive with those folders in and be ready to roll!
  14. I have made a CD for installing a HTPC spedific setup of WinXP. I would like to include Meedio in this package, togheter with my settings and plugins. Do any of you know how to do this? TIA. Bernhard
  15. Sorry for answering when I dont' have the answer, but would you mind sharing how you install your Meedio setup? Thanks!
  16. Stupid me! Strange though! I had this on "notify immediately" and still didn't receive a notification until today, May 2. 2005. !
  17. I hope someone can help me out! I've got no floppy in my system so I'm dependent on my unattended DVD. Everything works smoothly in Virual Machine until the installation is finished and the computer boots into the "Loading your personal settings" screen. At this point it freezes and won't complete the boot. This happens before RunOnce has ben run. I've used Nlite to remove some stuff, but have not included any drivers. Drivers are added via WINNT.SIF I've inlcuded the file so you can take a look. (OEMdriverspath has been broken to save space here) I got one error message once, saying something about access denied, and that it was logging into the default account. Other than that, nothing. Could this be just because of Virtual Machine, or should I expect trouble If I try to run this for real? ;SetupMgrTag [Data] AutoPartition=0 MsDosInitiated="0" UnattendedInstall="Yes" AutomaticUpdates=yes [Unattended] UnattendMode=FullUnattended OemSkipEula=Yes OemPreinstall=Yes TargetPath=\WINDOWS Repartition=Yes UnattendSwitch="yes" WaitForReboot=No DriverSigningPolicy=Ignore NonDriverSigningPolicy = Ignore KeyboardLayout="Norwegian" DetachedProgram=cmd.exe Arguments="/C START %systemdrive%\detached.cmd" KeyboardLayout="Norwegian" OemPnPDriversPath="Drivers\000_Sata\silicon\3112;Drivers\001_Chipset\AudioDrv;Drivers\001_Chipset\Ethernet; Drivers\001_Chipset\GART;Drivers\001_Chipset\Ide\WinXP;001_Chipset\MemCtl;Drivers\001_Chipset\SMBus;Drivers\002_Monitor; Drivers\003_Keyb\Win2K_XP;Drivers\006_Mouse:Drivers\007_Printer" [GuiUnattended] AdminPassword="XXXXXXXXXX" EncryptedAdminPassword=NO OEMSkipRegional=1 TimeZone=105 OemSkipWelcome=1 ProfilesDir="D:\Documents and Settings\" [UserData] FullName="Bebbetufs" OrgName="None" ComputerName=PC ProductKey=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX [Display] BitsPerPel=32 Xresolution=1280 YResolution=960 Vrefresh=85 [TapiLocation] CountryCode=47 AreaCode=55 [RegionalSettings] LanguageGroup=1 Language=00000414 [Identification] JoinWorkgroup=SANJUAN [Networking] InstallDefaultComponents=Yes [WindowsFirewall] Profiles=WindowsFirewall.TurnOffFirewall [WindowsFirewall.TurnOffFirewall] Mode=0 [PCHealth] ER_Display_UI=1 ER_Enable_Applications=1 ER_Enable_Kernel_Errors=1 ER_Enable_Reporting=0 ER_Enable_Windows_Components=1 ER_Include_Shutdown_Errs=1 ER_Include_MSApps=1 RA_AllowToGetHelp=0 RA_AllowUnsolicited=0 [SystemFileProtection] SFCShowProgress=1 [Components] AutoUpdate=Off calc=On certsrv=On charmap=On chat=Off dialer=Off fax=Off freecell=Off hearts=Off hypertrm=On minesweeper=Off msnexplr=Off msmsgs=off paint=Off pinball=Off solitaire=Off spider=Off zonegames=Off [Branding] BrandIEUsingUnattended=Yes [Proxy] Proxy_Enable=0 Use_Same_Proxy=0
  18. I've only tested this once on VirtualPC. I still have the aliide.sys error. I did a search of the drive containing my UXPCD and only found references to aliide._sy files. I don't know what it means, but maybe it helps? Thanks for your efforts so far!
  19. Thanks, but that won't work. It only takes the files and settings from the user that's logged in. And after reinistalling windows with my Unattended DVD, my current profile is "username.computername" and my folders are empty. I need to transfer the files from my old user ie. "username"
  20. I've been searching the forum for hours, but most of the threads are dealing with similar , but different tasks. So before I do any more searching I'd like to know if it really is possible to reuse an existing profile and its folders? Is it possible or not to make windows use my old user folders on D:, (like My Documents etc.) or will it allways append the computername to a new profile so that Profilename becomes Profilename.computername? I need to know If this is possible before I continue searching. If not I will look for a way of copying the files from another partition during the unattended install! Thanks
  21. Is there an updated package available for download somewhere?
  22. I'm doing both an English and a Norwegian unattended DVD. The English one is working perfect, but the Norwegian one is giving me a winnt.sif error. It says that the language settings are incorrect. I've used the winnt.sif from the English version and changed the username and login settings. The English version is already set up with with a Norwegian keyboard and location. What do I need to change in the Norwegian winnt.sif version for it to work properly? TIA B
  23. EDIT: Forget it people! My stupid. I had overlooked some path names in the .cmd file! I'm making to almost identical unattended DVDs. WinXP English = no problems WinXP Norwegian = problems. The Norwegian DVD turns up with an english setup screen after mounting the image in Daemon. Im using the "CD Image for Windows Professional" which may be found here! When launching setup.exe from the source folder it turns up in Norwegian, but after making the ISO for burning it turns out in English! Do I need to change the bootfile or something? Thanks
  24. Thanks! I couldn't get it to work, but I can't be bothered spending any more time on this now. I'll get back to it some other time!
