  1. This is what I meant when I said "intercepting the phone line". However, I do not own a BINA nor know anyone who can lend me one, so I was seeking some software way before looking for a BINA. I also would like to know how could an application prevent the logging of the dialed number. This would be no surprise in DOS, but I thought all modem access in Windows had to be done through the TAPI services.
  2. I want to know what number a dialler installed to access an ISP is using. I tried the modem log, but it contains the string ATDT####-#### , which is not a valid number. (I did not think an application could do this, but it did) Is there any alternative to intercepting the phone line? O/S: Windows 7 Home Starter ; as single-user as I could make it. my knowledge of Window 7: very low. The reason why I want this number is to be able to access that provider from a DOS machine, where the dialler will not work. They do not object to this, indeed I did so until they changed numbers, but neither they bother to help.
  3. Has anyone used an ADSL USB modem under Win 7? I tried a Conexant Access Runner and could install the driver; the modem gets an IP address and the ADSL diagnostics are OK, but I could not get a PPPoE connection. NetMon shows different values of HWA for the modem and NDISWANBH; the last does not have an IP address. O/S: Windows 7 Home Starter, preinstalled in the computer.
  4. While not exactly the subject of this thread, I would like to know whether anyone can help with a problem related to NVIDIA drivers under Windows 98: I have a computer running Windows 98SE (version number 4.10.2222A). I installed in it a Nvidia RIVA TNT2 Model 64 video card (VID=10DE, PID=002D). The card works OK with Microsoft default driver, but in VGA mode (640 x 480 x 16) only. I tried several drivers from Nvidia archive, from version 40.72 to 66.94. All support the RIVA TNT2 Model 64 under Windows 98, according to their documentation. Every one installs without a glitch but, on reboot, the computer stops during boot and restarts, at last booting in VGA mode. Looking at the log file, I see that, in every case, the driver nvdisp.drv failed to respond, and this caused the the boot process to stop and restart with Microsoft default driver instead. Each install was attempted in plain VGA, after removing the previous Nvidia driver version. The monitor is a Sony Multiscan G 400, capable of 1280 x 1024 resolution (or better). Regards, JAS
