A friend of mine gave me a DVD the other day and taking a closer look at it, it looks like someone followed Flyakite's guide to a tee. I'm pretty sure I found the directory where XP's install is housed. My question is, if I remove that, will it break the (CD)'s capability to boot / do other functions?

Dear MSFN: Is there a way to build a CD-ROM that only has the drivers and installs them / extracts them (preferably while in Windows, not part of the setup process...) ?

I really didn't think OS would be an issue. XP, SP1. nLITED beyond belief; and Sneaky's driverpack installed.

What's what i"m saying -- I can't do that, I can't view the dependencies. I must have removed something by accient. It also causes various security scans to fail, and other application errors.

Dear MSFN: What service / control is responsible for the retreival of another service's dependencies? In other words, what service or program is required to be able to look at what a service relies on? I think I removed something I shouldn't have because I recieve errors such as "The dependency or group failed to start..." etc. etc. I get the same errors when trying to do security scans, and the like... Any help would be apprecitated... Thanks! EDIT: Come on. somebody has to know what i removed, or what cuases that issue. I think it may be the reason why some apps fail on me, but I odn't know what it would be.

I know I haven't messed up anything yet -- I was just wondering about the DriverSigningPolicy thing; because it's rather annoying and defeats the purpose of an unattended install. But I know it does work because the system I tested it on; it noticed all devices without a problem. I used Method 2.

When trying my new build and the DriverPack, I keep getting those Uncertified Driver(s) prompts; how do I fix that? I thought the driver pack would ignore those prompts automatically; or do I have to make edits to WinNT.sif?

I've already used DP on the only copy of my unattended install I have. Even if nLITE corrupts the DP install, couldn't I do it again afterward?

After applying the Driver Pack; if I attempt to use nLITE to slim down my disc even more, will it cause any problems with the driver pack, or will I just have to re-slipstream the drivers again ? The only reason I'm worried is because this is the first time I've ever really noticed that TXTSETUP file; and realized how big / important it is for system setup; but I've never really touched the file / messed with it. One other quick question... what are the c_870.nls files used for; and in the TXTSETUP.SIF file, what exactly is the meaning of all the numbers/ commas ? setup / usage for extracting it? thanks!

I'm not planning to use XPE. I'd have to re-write the documentation; andI don't want to do that. Not to mention, I have what i want working 0-- spyware removal tools. Anybody got any good suggestions how to present it to other IT Crew Members that will be working with it, OR giving more training in it?

As far as the temp files, that's a great link right there. I will try that out and get back to you. As far as HijackThis! / CWS: I got CWS to work by downloading the plugin again, and replacing the EXE. I was also hoping to see if I could get About:Buster to work, but that was to no avail. I have RunScanner; but Hijackthis just still doesn't want to work. I would assume something with the registry or *.DLL linking. As far as that goes, staff around here informed me it's OK to leave HijackThis! out of the build. I'm almost done, but as you said: always evolving. Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it.

No dice. I guess I'll get people to do it manually. *sigh* Just one more build to go, then I'll have it just the way I want it, I hope.

Reguardless of the browser, I know where those temp files are. It's just getting ONE easy to use *.BAT to find the username for the temp files. IE: X:\Documents and Settings\USERACCOUNTNAMEHERE\Temp or Temporary Internet Files. That's the issue; there's no way to go directly to a given user without knowing the name. I don't want to make people using this CD to have to navigate manualyl to delete these files.

Dear MSFN: Long time no see! I've been trying to setup a bootable Windows PE Disk using BartPE; and have a probelm trying to get HijackThis! and CWShredder to work properly. I can get CWShredder to work properly if I copy the file to the local file-system's system32 directory that I am working on. Otherwise, it doesn't work too well -- not to mention it's somewhat sloppy to do. On a side note, is there any way that I can make a *.bat that will delete the temporary files for internet users? As far as I know, in a windows enviroment, %temp% will go straight to that directory for a logged on user. In BartPE; %temp% goes to B:\ (RAMDisk) Any solutions / help would be appreciated!
