  1. please do. things are finally beginning to work
  2. thats y. ok. well, it boots, but here: wtf? this is prob a modding error rite? cuz it finally boots! wat did i do wrong?
  3. they're in windows, just like wat alonoll told me to do. both are in there, as well as bootscreen.cmd
  4. new boot.ini: boot screen is still same old default
  5. wat else can i do? well, a simple search in your virtual system would tell you. It's in C:\boot.ini (figure out how to copy it) As for other ways, you could ahve taken a snap shot, then started from there each time, instead of going through the whole reformat, copy process. where do i take the snapshot?
  6. It doesn't. That's what the batch file gets around. Just disregard the hyperthreading fact. Your files look fine (took 17 minutes to download), just reinstall the ENTIRE OS before saying it doesn't work. The batch file also allows that if you use the SAME CD on an Athlon system and a P4 (or virtual system) then the bootscreen still gets applied correctly, using the proper kernel. ok. i'll do it again. but this boot.ini was taken from an install with the settings in that $$.rar that u dled. so will it be any different?
  7. yea, i got frustrated. that's prob why there's so many /kernel things. i install again and i thought vmware doesn't have hyperthreadign
  8. is there anything wrong with all that i posted? and where do i get the boot.ini?
  9. god! still doesn't work! heres everything i used: http://www.freewebs.com/ihaveabu/$$.rar attached $$.rar. includes: -bootscreen.cmd -dualkrnl.exe -oemkrnl.exe the .exe's were edited from the files in i836. help? i really don't know wat's wrong now. maybe i edited the kernels wrong. help?
  10. u could have said that earlier. thanks a lot! will test it now! well.....technically, it has been said before. In the Cosmetics thread. Perhaps not those exact steps, but the basic principle is the same. Though I find if people read alittle and not get it handed to them step by step, they are capable of continuing on to other advanced things. lol. Lesson learned. yea. sorry to take up so much of ur time. in 15 min, we'll see if that time was well spent. plus, this whole time i didn't know i was supposed to use files in the i386 folder.
  11. u could have said that earlier. thanks a lot! will test it now!
  12. ok. i'll do that. wat do i do? where do i put the bootlogo.cmd? and wat thing do i put under [guirunonce]?
  13. there are none in the i386 folder. heres my cmdlines.txt: [COMMANDS] "useraccounts.cmd" "REGEDIT /S regtweaks.reg" "bootlogo.cmd" is this the "when ...?" u were asking about?
  14. it boots fine. just uses the default win xp thing. doens't boot with the edited kernel. and wat is the rite place to get the kernels? sp1, sp2, or drivers.cab? they each have the 4 files. and i'm installing a sp2 integrated
  15. The only reason I corrected the names was becaus of how they are named in your script. I realize they can be named anything. Just wanted to make sure he didn't end up with differences between the names in the script and what he actually has. that's not really the problem. i tried using the kernals from driver.cab, from sp1.cab, and sp2.cab. none of them boot up properly. and when i use the kernel switch thing, it give me 2 options to boot. 1's Microsoft Windows XP Professional the 2nd is Windows XP Professional every time i boot. neither boots with the modded boot screen. this is getting extremely annoying. can anyone post their configs?
  16. how do i do that? i'm kind running out of options here. can someone please post a working cmd file and where they placed their stuff?
  17. would it help if used the ntoskrnl.exe and ntkrnlmp.exe from sp2.cab? or is it the same as in the driver.cab thing? and does installing a sp2 slipped make any difference? can you guys show me ur bootlogo.cmd files and ur configs?
  18. still doesn't work. kinda getting annoying. the names are OEMkrnl.exe for the single cpu and dualkrnl.exe for ht. still not workin. here's wat i did: copied driver.cab to desktop, extracted to folder using winrar copied ntoskrnl.exe and ntkrnlmp.exe to a new folder. ran resource hack and replaced the bmps. saved. then renamed to OEMkrnl.exe and dualkrnl.exe. copied to $OEM$\$$\system32 used bootlogo.cmd (attached) in $OEM$ folder heres my cmdlines.txt: [COMMANDS] "useraccounts.cmd" "REGEDIT /S regtweaks.reg" "bootlogo.cmd" am i doing something wrong? bootlogo.cmd
  19. thanks
  20. i add to the bootlogo.cmd rite? thanks, i'll try it now. fingers crossed
  21. yea, i'm not overwriting anything. i'm using this method. had some probs with corrupt ntfs.sys. gonna try it again now
