  1. its cool as hey u should try, if may not already know, ghosting the harddrive. Well its really called re-imaging the hard drive. Imagine u get a copy a every thing on ur c drive (back up the whole partition) so then u have a perfect configured backup of your xp installed and ur settings. Its like a around 5-10 gi file but when ur OS gets messy u can just flash ur backup copy over it and be back to its perfect state. only takes less than 10 minutes anyhow u may know of it (kinda related to nLite)-similar area of topic
  2. that would be awesome. like maybe hav a random guessing string for all blanks fields and hav like a just totally lottery XP setup where who knows what you''ll get. "Microsoft Mystery XP" - for all non developers, all non users, and only for losers Be init 2 neva winit
  3. it worked well for those interested. and 5eraph SP2 update pack, for anyone with x64 systems, i'd recommend.
  4. Thanks again X. Yeah found a .NET addon. Worked well Its odd cos id figure u would need version 1 & 1.1 before version 2, but this addon goes from 2.0 to 3.5 I dont see many 1.0 addons around or 1.1 Such a relief though to conquer it. Cheers for help along the way. On this post topic here are some useful runonce commands... md "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Security" md "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Optimizers" md "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Hardware" md "C:\Program Files\Utilities" md "C:\Program Files\Security" md "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\DVD Software" md "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Internet Browsers" md "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Utilities" md "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Media Players" del /Q /F "%userprofile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\*.*" del "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\Program Compatibility Wizard.lnk" del "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Start Menu\Programs\MSN Messenger 6.2.lnk" del "%USERSPROFILE%\Start Menu\Programs\Remote Assistance.lnk" del "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Start Menu\New Office Document.lnk" most of them work. Id prefer to have them in a batch file but dunno how to add the batch in (beginner)
  5. thanks Kelsenellenelvian, ur contribution has certainly enhanced my skills as a nLite developer especially where removing final few annoying questions after install is complete being a simpleton means not knowing what to do. But now i feel 10 fold evolved, advanced, and ready to direct any new simpletons to areas of sheer complexity that you and i both now comprehend. Cheers The disc made is a version that will not be validated by microsoft. So hence in the $OEM$ folder i place on the desktop the "Microsoft Key Update Tool" and running a batch file saying u must enter ur own key using Microsoft Key Update Tool. So next time i help out a friend (not you) and reinstall XP for them and ignite their computing experiences with a fresh OS rather than the 5 year old unworkable heap of muck their currently using my instant assistance will be be truly adored. Or actually i might make 1000 dvds copies of my iso file and distribute a version to everyone in my suburb. Thankyou for ur ventilations.
  6. http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?...sc&start=50 any problems using this one ?
  7. hmmm actually i think ive found .NET... http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?...sc&start=50 i aint tried it yet but best looking solution (if interested)
  8. Thanks X That should solve .NET 2.0 (which is 1.1 really yeah?) So with this do i still need to install .NET 1.0 original version?
  9. or here mate.. http://www.wincert.net/forum/index.php?/to...enu-true-addon/ took me 5 days to find grrr, but happy to help, cos we seem at similar stages. it worked fine. I integrated all the non IE hotfixes 1st. Then made a new XP folder (copy just incase failure, ensuring i still have my workable XP) and integrated this addon with after the IE8 updates after it. Worked no problimo If u find an easy .NET pack addon let me know cos thats the next challenge....so much stress Hey u should check out "Xpise" man, it makes all XP themes look killa. But in the install process use advanced, and untick the install of program: taskswitch.exe (its crudd)
  10. hey ponch, interesting with XP home. I managed to tick OOBE lol and works great. Its odd because although just having the default admin account only, im still asked to enter a user name and organisation string. Like what the hell are those details being assigned to if theres only the admin account. I left this blank in nLite Config because friends may use my nLite XP disk, so i no want it configured just to my name. If wasnt for this question (name & org), id have a unattended install start to finish. If only the default admin account exists, where does the name & org details get assigned to? Also, i thought it was a bug years ago, when realized there was the hidden default admin account, behind my standard admin user account. But now this way, going straight to the default admin account (hence no redundancy) it seems preferable. But is it dangerous to not have a standard user account, and just sticking with this default admin. Could this cause problems down the track?
  11. johnhc i see ur trying to help but is it helpful when u just throw me to a post the size of a thesis full of advanced technological jargon. Why waste the time to even bother directing. I appreciate the effort made but im responding democratically and sending a beginner to the deep end of a pool thats not even for x86 systems is just weird. Others will look at this post too and all ur saying is go far away to here and get even more confused. When all u could have done is said... benno put ur batch in this folder(#####) and run it from here... (##### via a command like this - #######) thats even easier than the efffort uve made geeze. Beginners come here for mentoring and uve just depleted the whole concept and at same time filled in a guide with inefficient bla bla. Most of ur posts today are this way. No offence but why bother answering unless willing to provide knowledge of ur own (ie: The solution) thankyou anyway.
  12. It is truly a battle to conquuer the integration of .NET into nLite. I have searched everywhere for hours Is there 1 single addon pack that will simply install all versions during XP install? where is it? Add if its a run once drama, then what needs to be written? So much stress can be removed if the user didnt have to install .NET after XP finishes
  13. OK ive looked everywhere on the topic of how to run a batch file within the install (or after) So lets say ive made a batch file that says (basic).... msg * "Welcome to XP" OR CLEANMGR /sagerun:11 not really relevant on what the batch file will do but >>>>> To get it to run, where do i put it, or run it from? Lets say its called XP.bat maybe i put it in $OEM$/$1/$INSTALL -- Or wheres the best spot to put it? but how do i get XP.bat to run????? Because I'd rather edit a batch file, than edit every single command line added to Runonce Thanx if can help
  14. Brilliant 5eraph, absolutely outstanding. Thankyou for this great contribution. Cheers mate. Star Legend Readers are now much more informed. Good work
  15. Yes thankyou johnhc. That really helps no one. Anyone else willing to not help?
  16. OK, DirectX standalone installer when clicked asks the user to extract all its cabs and set up file to where ever user chooses. Now to integrate DirectX into nLite, what must one do? Do I just add all these cabs into nLite Hotfixes excluding the setup.exe file? Whats the correct way. Preferably ur answer will be an instruction manual for all users reading this, and this post can be a reference point for everyone. So lol, here is how to integrate DirectX into nLite........
  17. hmmm lots to choose from lol cheerss guys I actually think RayansVM is the same they seem to download the same file Sp0iLedBrAt cheers i thats where i got the one i mentioned. Gonna try it 1st see what happens Addons that need editing personally i think are disfunctional, theyre hardly an addon if u got manipulate it later hey. But i good group of links here guys maybe this post can be a quick reference for all others needing one. johnhc, ur saying that adding hotfixes after the IE8 addon will be successful? no errors will occur? Its possible that one of these addons already have the updates in them, which i may not know which ones, and then i go add in evey IE8 hotfix and there possibly could be a conflict because the hotfix already exists. True or will it just overwrite? Cheers
  18. hey brilliant 5eraph so thats what that checkbox was for I left it unticked thinkin XP might never ever validate, But its jst to take away those questions hmmmm awesome, well not yet have to see if works lol On ur other option : "UnattendSwitch="Yes"" What are the further benefits from doing this, like what else is gained ie: It sounds like an install from start to finish, with zero questions. A dream, but im sure XP will have to ask somethin, yeah? Because a user account name has to be inserted at some point, or does it just use the default ADMIN account at log in
  19. Yeah hey, here i found the addon... http://www.wincert.net/forum/index.php?/to...enu-true-addon/ but its a zipped .7z file, is that just a cab that nlite will understand and process or do i have to do something else to it first if u think this ie8 addon is fake or not good where is the best one (that simple and dont need no commands/switches/registry edits or messin around)
  20. Hi again. Was wondering if its possible to prevent the XP install from asking those boring questions at the end where... What are the user names? Do u want to register this version of XP now? Do you want to create an internet connection? etc etc etc You hopefully will say yes But how exactly? Cheers
  21. Hi John great help. Yeah im downloading VirtualBox right now. I tried sandboxie, bit basic at a brief look. That would be so great if u can just load up an iso file. Good answer mate, it will be interseting to look to the future and see what mischief i'll be doing once i conquered virtual machines.
  22. arr thanks mate im thinking maybe i could do a silent install of IE8 using runonce like... start $OEM$\install\internetexplorer8.exe /VERYSILENT this line is incorrect yes? is there an easier way to install IE8 is there a quick way to install divX is there a quick way to install .NET (or do u have the location of a proven cab file)
  23. yeah sorry i was meaning something i found through xable called "Xpise" it modernizes the themes of XP its a little sketchy but works great on the topic of xable.... sure it a pack full of hotfixes but is it for sp3, sp2 or what and who knows whats in, just a bunch of dll files an easy and good concept but its a mystery
  24. hi guys great replies the $OEM$ explaination is perfect thanks i feel uncertain with addons because u dont know what ur getting, and there chance of failure BSOD hey where is this GuiRunOnce section? and why is it different
  25. Alternatively.... What would be the code to put a new folder on the desktop in runonce >> And I have a folder of installers stating these must be installed after XP, that are located on the disk. Its possible to put these (IE8,.NET, DivX) on the desktop ive heard ready and waiting the momont the user logs in....BUT HOW?
