  1. update: the MassStorage TEXTMODE method works for my 3112r! I put it right along the same cd as your method and windows detect my drivers fine. But first, you should probably take a look at my post in the TEXTMODE post because i explain it a bit more.
  2. Your method works! I have a Si3112r and your method allowed me to install windows onto my raid installation. However, during the GUI install portion where windows normally searches for drivers, a window pop up and tells you that it can't find the .cpl file. (actually, i am not to sure exactly which file it is). To correct the problem i just pointed to my install CD with the file. Maybe i forgot to include it in the windows $OEM$ path in the first place. I noticed that during my first attemp at your method, i copied the wrong 3112 files (i got the 3112, not the 3112r) and the textmode setup complained that it couldn't find i386/$OEM$/si3112r.sys. So I guess that is where windows is looking for files. I think the rest of the directories you posted aren't really needed. I fixed that, but then i forgot to remove the dll= line so i got an illegal file type message. thanx
  3. anyways, onward with the possible fixes! I am going to try the TEXTMODE installation method for ym si3112r and tell you how it goes. One question, I noticed that your drivers don't have a txtsetup.oem like normal textmode drivers. Is it not necessary for your method?
  4. so if i understand you correctly, it just won't because the driver manufacturers are careless?
  5. i tried updating my SATA bios and mobo bios to the latest, and it is still not working... it's probably just one misplaced letter or something.
  6. well, i tried 6 different sets of 3112r drivers to see if it was a driver problem. I also have this wierd problem where i can't use F6 in order get windows to install on my RAID. when i use the F6 method, it does detect my RAID initially, but when it begins to copy over the files it says it can't find my si3112 drivers (although it had just copied them a minuet before so it could detect my RAID). Maybe it's something wrong with our computer setup? bios? I am going to try and update/mod my bios and see what happens. Also, maybe you can integrate the different method for installing 3112r drivers. Using this method. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=19792 Perhaps that will let us install 3112 drivers. Heres a list of driver versions i tried. 10050 10047 10040 10032 10028 10022
  7. i have the same problem with my Silicon Image 3112 raid. I can load it using F6 from a floppy and it will detect my drive or raid. But, when it comes time to actually copy the files, it says it can't find it. I have tried using different versions of the drivers, but i still can't find one that works. I am also trying the integrated cd method, but that doesn't seem to work either. Maybe it's something wrong with the driver itself?
  8. still no go, i have went through 6 cd's with different configs and i still cant get the 3112r to work. I read somewhere that Silicon Image has some problems with device id's or something like that, so I went through and deleted all reference to anything Silicon Image in all the modified files except for the 3112r. But it still didn't detect my drive (in raid or not). I can't figure out where i am going wrong, unless i am not doing anything wrong, and the 3112's can't be done.
  9. i think i found the 3 files in another place called old or something like that. Anyways, I tried method 2 and it didn't work. Oh, and incase I didn't make myself clear, I am trying to get windows xp installed onto my SATA 3112r Raid. When I come up to the disk format screen I can only see my normal ATA controllers. Is your Masstorage driver pack supposed to let me install without pressing F6? Or is that something completely different? ALso, you mention to put those files under [files] in dosnet.inf. However, in my dosnet.inf there are two [files] categories. So I just ended up putting it under both. Any help would be much appreciated.
  10. I am trying to download the "3 files" from the link in your instruction for method2, but I suspect that the link's download limit has been exceeded. Can somebody please post a link to that file. I can mirror it for you guys too because I have 5GB of bandwidth a day. Also, Method 1 did not work for me. I nlited my xp installation and then I applied the MassStorage patch. However, windows still couldn't find my SATA 3112r. I went over the instructions many times, and I am sure I got it right the first time. Help.
  11. i use powweb.com hosting. I just signed up no more than two weeks ago. They are not lying, they do have what I think is the best price for features. They really do offer 5GB of daily transfer. Some of the things that really aren't apparent: 1. After 5GB they shut down your website for that day. They do not allow you to go over that. I think this is a good thing because you can't get overcharged. 2. There is no Cpanel. They have a proprietary thing called Ops that does some basic config for you, but everything else, like setting up a forum or PHP CMS is up to you. I was so used to Cpanel because of my former host www.lunarpages.com (which is also good, but they don't have as many features). But I got over not having Cpanel in about 10 minuets. I did some quick reading on PHP and MySQL and everything was fine. You have more power and security when you do it yourself. 3. You basically need to do everything in FTP or Frontpage, but they are developing a beta site manager that will probably be up soon. 4. They are competitive and add features all the time. Old subscribers also get the benefits when they update their features (like the recent addition of 5GB per day). 5. They seem really fast to me, i haven't testest their maximum download, but it easily saturates my 170KB/s line. 6. It took quite a while for them to register my domain name, but they did do it after 3 days.
