  1. Hi, I have a bit of a wierd problem and hope someone here can help. I have created an unattended SP2 slipstreamed Windows Media Center 2005 DVD. I've been steadily building it up for almost a year now and know the ins and outs of resource hacking, modifying the CRC header and then using makecab to inject the hacked files into your XP CD/DVD - its been working fine for ages. In the last flurry of Windows Updates was an update for shell32.dll. No problem I thought, I just re-hack it and slip it back in - thats exactly what I did. For some reason though, after the install is complete I have a standard shell32.dll - no fancy icons. If I check the version it is the new one but with none of my modifications. I can't figure out where this file is coming from as the SHELL32.DL_ file in the i386 folder on the DVD is my version and no other versions exist on the DVD (I am not installing any Windows Updates as part of the unattended install and I have searched through all the *.cab files on it aswell) Does anybody have any idea where this rogue shell32.dll file could be coming from?
  2. I've been installing Daemon Tools from a *.cmd file for ages and yes, it does bring up a New Hardware Found wizard but if you're patient ant wait about 1-2 minutes it automatically closes this and continues with the rest of the batch job.
  3. Thats very nice but this thread is about Ghost 9.0 (2004). Ghost 2003 is v 8.0. I have tried creating an AIP but it still moans about the msi must be launched through setup.
  4. Has no-one figured this out yet - I can't get this thing to install silently!!
  5. See here: Media Center Slipstream Guide
  6. OK so now we have it - what the hell is it and will it help do a silent install? If not why is it even being mentioned?
  7. Sorry, TXTSETUP.SIF?? This file does not exist in the Ghost install files or the program folder once its installed - where should it be?
  8. 70 odd views and not a single suggestion? Anyone have any ideas at all about this or got it to work?
  9. Anyone managed to get Norton Ghost 9.0 to install silently? I've tried: setup.exe /s /v"/qn REBOOT=Suppress" and also setup /? tells you: setup.exe /s /v /qn But that doesn't work either. It uses an MSI but this has to be launched through Setup.exe which is an InstallShield installer. I have tried setup -R but no setup.iss is created in C:\Windows Partition Magic 8.05 seems exactly the same apart from that it successfully creates setup.iss when using -R.
  10. Hmmm, OK I got both Clone CD and CloneDVD to install fine and they run great (thanks for the scripts! ) but CloneCD is still not registered when opened. I imported the key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Elaborate Bytes\CloneCD\CDKey] "Serial"=hex:xx, xxx, ,xx, x,x,xx,, etc "Name"=hex:xx,xx,xx,xx,etc They imported fine cos when i check the registry they're there but it still comes up with the "Order it" or "Try it" screen. Have I done something wrong or missed something?
  11. I don't think I'm explaining things very well here. I think only someone who actually has Media Center and has attempted this can understand how difficult this is. I have no problem combining the 2 CDs, thats easy but if you use the 'integrate' switch with the SP2 exe it does not update any of the Media Center related stuff - only the normal XP Pro side of things. The standard Media Center CD2 contains all the MC files but they are all in 1 big CAB file. Once you have extracted SP2, the MC folder in there has some new files that didn't exist in the original, some the same and some missing. They are also uncompressed and not in a CAB file. Also, and no disrepect to Vortex - he is clearly very bright, that guide has to be the dodgiest, butchered hack i've seen in a long time to get Media Center running on a non-Media Center setup - doesn't really apply to getting SP2, including MC2004 integrated into the original MC CDs.
  12. Its not just the fact that its 2 CDs that makes it not work - its something to do with Media Center. The original Media Center CDs have a MDRCNTR.CAB file with most of the eHome stuff in it whereas SP2 has some of these files but all in an uncompressed format. From what I have read and heard so far, slipstreaming SP2 with Media Center Edition is impossible so maybe I mis-used the word 'slipstream' Thanks for that bek, that sounds promising : Is there no way to do it from the original [WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe] file or does it have to be extracted for it to work?
  13. Hi, I'm having a lot of grief trying to slipstream SP2 with Media Center - from what I can tell so far it isn't possible because of the 2CD installation. I attempted a slipstream which installed fine but never prompted for the 2nd CD hence no Media Center features (even though System Properties shows "Media Center Edition!?). So what I need to know is is it possible to install SP2 like you do with a hotfix in one of the cmd files? I suppose if this is possible it would have to be in the batch file that runs at first login as Windows needs to be fully installed before a SP can be applied. Any help would be greatly appreciated
