  1. oh all right thank you for reply JFX . Regards
  2. Hello My Friend JFX. its been a while since we shared information. i still miss those days. When i was around more and more and bug you, wimb. Shao. Jaclaz etc regarding different stuff. I just stop here to congratulate you on your never ending work and continue supporting this very valuable tool. I am away from the scene since 3/4 years due to my 2 jobs hence lack of time, and recently i got married as well. Anyhow few days ago a friend asked for my help / regarding his new hp laptop having win8.1 . Windows startup had issues / and as expected he had all the data on single partition along with windows. So he requested to please rescue data and install windows 8.1. I knew about uefi very less. So i had no idea that it does not like NTFS at all. I had 32 gb flash drive in NTFS formatted with rmprepusb and using easy2boot files from same developer for installing win7 and 8. Anyhow i thought that first i ll boot into my custom win7 pe. Copy data to my 1 tb usb drive and will install win8 natively from usb. I went into bios settings and disabled secure boot / but when i try to boot from usb / it went straight to grub4dos command line. So i thought i ll fire up winpe from command line. This time it gave me " disk read error " It was beyond my understanding that why the fuck would it do that even though secure boot was disabled. Anyways when i re-format my usb as fat32 / this time it recognised grub4dos menu successfully ( still booted as legacy). anyways long story short i was able to salvage data and install windows 8 from this tool. Problem was only with EFI boot flag ( it was shown red by Winntsetup.) remaining 2 were shown as green. So my question is / is that possible for you to add this efi/bcdboot repair option in your tool. which your tool only does when we select install.esd file.? you use bootsect.exe for this purpose i guess. All we need is one efi partition of 100 mb formatted as fat32 , select it as BOOT device from your tool / and select C:/windows from your tool as INSTALL device. This way your tool will only check and repair/copy files required in Efi partition /mark it as Active. Thank you once again for this awesome tool. Kind Regards Maanu from Pakistan
  3. Add a 2003 setup.exe as \setup\I386_03\setupORG.exe Examle: floppy image mounted in RAM as fd0 and fd1: #patch txtsetup.oem, use 2003 setuporg.exe cat --locate=setuporg.exe --number=1 (fd0)/TXTSETUP.OEM > nul || call :error firadisk.img file error.. set /a offset=%?% - 9 write --offset=%offset% (fd0)/TXTSETUP.OEM se03_32 dd if=(fd0)/TXTSETUP.OEM of=(fd1)/TXTSETUP.OEM cat (fd1)/TXTSETUP.OEM pause press a key means i will simply add a folder i386_03 in IMA file beside I386 folder, and txtsetup will look in I386_03 folder ? i suppose there is no way to do this without using your above TSTSETUP Patch ? because now i use your IMA file with RUN . and this way , i am afraid i will have to use another IMA file for 2003 ISO. i used following entry , and firadisk copy error gone. map --mem (md)0x800+4 (99) map --mem /Inst/XP_INST.IMA (fd1) map --mem (md)0x6000+800 (fd0) map /Inst/XP_RAM.ISO (222) map --hook dd if=(fd1) of=(fd0) count=1 write (99) [FiraDisk]\nStartOptions=cdrom,vmem=find:/Inst/XP_RAM.ISO ;\n\0 rootnoverify (222) chainloader (222)/I386/SETUPLDR.BIN i prefer NOT to edit the iso. and everything from IMA menu.lst as you prefer i suppose. by the way , copy error also not appear with RUN file. my usage of RUN ,with your default ISO path./ title RUN of SRATIF with CDOB IMA set usrpath=/INST/ command /INST/RUN --fira:XP_INST.IMA iso=XP_RAM.ISO if i want to change iso path , i should only edit the isoimage.ini file ? i strongly recommend to use RUN in your next IMA.
  4. @ cdob is it possible , that even though setupORG.exe is copied OK to system32 , and renamed to Setup.exe by your setup.cmd . but still it is complaining ,at gui mode , " setupORG.exe not found " i dont understand how it could happen. i booted from PE. and checked the system32 ,there is setup.exe there (as renamed by your batch during setup ) here is presetup.log presetup log Sun 01/22/2012 2:46:38.28 search ISO file "C:\Inst\XP_RAM.ISO" search ISO file "D:\Inst\XP_RAM.ISO" search ISO file "E:\Inst\XP_RAM.ISO" search ISO file "F:\Inst\XP_RAM.ISO" search ISO file "G:\Inst\XP_RAM.ISO" search ISO file "H:\Inst\XP_RAM.ISO" found ISOfile H:\Inst\XP_RAM.ISO mount ISOfile H:\Inst\XP_RAM.ISO Volume in drive V is CRMEVOL_EN Volume Serial Number is 9FC6-5DF7 Directory of V:\ 10/29/2011 12:00 PM <DIR> $OEM$ 10/29/2011 12:00 PM <DIR> I386 10/29/2011 12:00 PM 10 WIN51 10/29/2011 12:00 PM 10 WIN51IA 10/29/2011 12:00 PM 10 WIN51IA.SP2 3 File(s) 30 bytes 2 Dir(s) 0 bytes free adjust $winnt$.inf: sourcepath = "\device\ImDisk0\" rename $winnt$.inf Volume in drive I has no label. 5. make sure RUN is in BOOT/GRUB directory path. boot from grub4dos. press C for command line, type RUN , enter you will be in RUN mode. it is a batch , right click it , and open with notepad2 or notepad ++ or you can use the following to set its path,. my menu.lst sample for my NativePE. debug off checkrange 0x21 read 0x8280 && pxe keep graphicsmode -1 640 terminal --font-spacing=0:3 color normal=31 highlight=0x75 helptext=0x1D heading=0x0A standard=0x0F border=0x00 splashimage /SRNP/GRUB/SNOW.GZ set com=/SRNP/GRUB/ cat --length=0 %?_BOOT%%com%RUN && set root=%?_BOOT% ! cat --length=0 %@root%%com%RUN && set root=%@root% ! find --set-root %com%RUN set com= && set root= && command --set-path=%root%%com% default 03 title User Menu By Maanu \n clear title [01] intoXicator's NativePE map /SRNP/NATIVE.ISO (0xff) map --hook chainloader (0xff) || chainloader (0xff)/I386/SETUPLDR.BIN title [02] Boot Into NT6x command RUN /bootmgr title [03] Boot Into NT5x command RUN /ntldr
  6. i use RUN batch by a chinese friend Sratif , who is moderator of WUYOU.and that FIRADISK img is also by him , not chenall. may be he borrowed some code from chenall's ntboot . i dont know. RUN batch of Sratf support RUN --SWAP EXT switch . picture below . no need for those long MENU entry . as soon as your iso mapped , it gives you the above menu , and ask the user to swap the hdd . when mapping ok , it again asks the user to press ENTER to continue booting iso . read post # 1103 and 1104 RUN batch can be downloaded from 1st page http://bbs.wuyou.com/viewthread.php?tid=191301&extra=page%3D1&page=1 and more screen shots. RUN has to be in BOOT/GRUB/ path . when you will press RUN from command line it will take you to batch mode. where press H enter . and help menu will open. post # 1104 explains RUN usage with custom floppy image , like XP_INST.
  7. i use modded server 2003 ISO , it is actually DataCenter edition . size about 300 MB. i will try with fd0 only. and i use grub4dos 2012-12-30 . modded iso's of xp work fine on same hardware though. i have an old branded DELL desktop . 1TB seagate + 80GB Samsung . booted with 8GB Kingsten . made bootable using fbinst.
  8. is the -cleanup like a switch to the cmd file? it will simply call the cleanup part of the batch file. try this floppy image of friadisk , made by my chinese friend Sratif (moderator of Wuyou forums ) http://db.tt/Bl77RtUG study batch file included and inf file too. @ cdob did you face any error while testing server 2003 sp2 32bit using iso install method ? after formatting partition, when windows start to copy files, it gives me error " firadisk, sys not found , make sure cd is stil in cdrom and bla bla " and all the other files which are in XP_RAM.IMA 0.5 title XP Home Install From ISO With 1 USB Boot\nWorks With Low Ram also find --set-root /Inst/XP_RAM.ISO map --mem (md)0x800+4 (99) checkrange 0x80 read 0x8280 && map (hd1) (hd0) checkrange 0x80 read 0x8280 && map (hd0) (hd1) map /Inst/XP_RAM.ISO (222) #map --mem /Inst/XP_INST.IMA (fd0) #map --mem /Inst/XP_INST.IMA (fd1) map /Inst/XP_INST.IMA (fd0) map /Inst/XP_INST.IMA (fd1) map --hook write (99) [FiraDisk]\nStartOptions=cdrom,vmem=find:/Inst/XP_RAM.ISO;floppy,vmem=find:/Inst/XP_INST.IMA ;\n\0 rootnoverify (222) chainloader (222)/I386/SETUPLDR.BIN title XP Home Install From ISO With 1 USB Boot\nWorks With Low Ram also find --set-root /Inst/XP_RAM.ISO map --mem (md)0x800+4 (99) checkrange 0x80 read 0x8280 && map (hd1) (hd0) checkrange 0x80 read 0x8280 && map (hd0) (hd1) map /Inst/XP_RAM.ISO (222) map --mem /Inst/XP_INST.IMA (fd0) map --mem /Inst/XP_INST.IMA (fd1) map --hook write (99) [FiraDisk]\nStartOptions=cdrom,vmem=find:/Inst/XP_RAM.ISO;floppy,vmem=find:/Inst/XP_INST.IMA ;\n\0 rootnoverify (222) chainloader (222)/I386/SETUPLDR.BIN mapping XP_INST.IMA to memory , and direct map , both result with same error , required files not found , after setup format partition . just wondering why this is happening for server2003 only . ?? by the way , above entries work OK on xp iso.
  9. hi cdob thanks for clearifying , on a system where it give problem at second boot (hal.dll error) , i had 1 internal hdd , 1 usb. ,. what do you mean by > To boot once from USB: ? is this for TXTMODE only ? moreover , what happens if user boot again for gui mode ? and i guess this is newer then your XP_INST.IMA's usb32 approach ? moreover , i am specifically interested in making the SECOND MODE (GUI) with NO RAMDISK , but i have had failures so far with both winvblock , or Firadisk , both on vm and real machine. your trick of using imdisk , in XP_INST,.IMA is more interesting , i ll try it tomorrow after getting back from office, it is 3.05 AM here. i ll take your XP_INST.IMA 0.4 , but i will only use Direct Map for the iso . and i guess it should execute setup.cmd and Mount the iso file again for the windows setup in gui mode . p.s the interesting question what i am thinking is , WHAT is the difference between your SETUP.CMD's imdisk.exe -a -t !ImDiskType! -f "%ISOfile%" -o ro -m V: and write (99) [FiraDisk]\nStartOptions=cdrom,vmem=find:/images/winsetup.iso;floppy,vmem=find:/images/firadisk.img;\n\0 the firadisk one , for some strange reason does not work for me, i am using 2012-01-01 grub4dos version . p.s i guess editing the iso , should only be when we need to install this iso to USB directly . for installing iso to Internal hdd, there should not be any editing involve in my humble view.
  10. so to sum it up , (i doubt if i am right , because all above details are giving me headache ) 1- you only change few names according to your choice in cdob's file , and updated firadisk and imdisk . . 2- you used only this one entry only title XP Home Install From ISO With 1 USB Boot\nWorks With Low Ram also find --set-root /whatereverhere map --mem (md)0x800+4 (99) checkrange 0x80 read 0x8280 && map (hd1) (hd0) checkrange 0x80 read 0x8280 && map (hd0) (hd1) set XPISO=HOME.ISO set Image=HOME.IMA map /%XPISO% (222) map /%Image% (fd0) map /%Image% (fd1) map --hook write (99) [FiraDisk]\nStartOptions=cdrom,vmem=find:/%XPISO%;floppy,vmem=find:/%Image%;\n\0 rootnoverify (222) chainloader (222)/I386/SETUPLDR.BIN what should be the 2nd entry *because above will only setup txtmode , yes ? then what should be the second entry to the gui mode ? moreover set XPISO=HOME.ISO can the HOME.ISO on any root ? (means even if it is in internal hdd ?, it will be searched like find set root of grub4dos ? ) should the tag file be in the same directory as HOME.ISO ? moreover , does cdob's USB to USB still valid with this trick ? i guess all imdisk will do , is search the iso and mount it again for windows setup to use . just like the win7 iso install trick ? please attach your modded .IMA file
  11. i am not sure how you will eliminate the 2nd part (GUI mode) as a whole ? it means every file will be copied to the target partition in txt mode? and user will simply boot from internal hdd second time? will you please detail your mode you made with xp_inst.ima ? thanks. @ cdob so your final say is , firadisk is more favourite then winvblock , when we are talking about Without RAMDISK iso install ? p.s , on second part ,when user boots from internal hdd ( in cases when he was originaly booted from usb) , he gets HAL.DLL error, and normal mapping does not work on some hardware . i.e checkrange 0x80 read 0x8280 && map (hd0) (hd1) checkrange 0x80 read 0x8280 && map (hd1) (hd0) what should be the failsafe entry , that we should use in 2nd part ? because in boot,.ini , the rdisk was written as (1) in place of (0) originally .
  12. Hi JFX , thank you for the new version , and accepting my request of adding Format Button.
  13. @ JFX ok , thank you , i got what you are saying , and basically i did not know about that VHD switch . thanks. @ Jaclaz it was clearly not my intention . it was just that i could not express more clearly . matter solved since i know that winntsetup can install other 7 versions on VHD . i ll take care of the rest manually. (i.e installing Winvblock using DISM or whatever) happy weekends to both of you.
  14. JFX , i have another idea, and i guess , you will just have to pull few strings , and every thing will be ready . 1- remove limitation , that only windows 7 ultimate or enterprise can be installed to VHD. 2-when any other win7 version is selected ( say win7 Pro) , the latest version of WinVblock will automatically be installed to the VHD using DISM. see following reference thread http://reboot.pro/15997/
  15. hi JFX i tried that already ,but after closing PG , the setup does not automatically show Setup screen to select, i 'd wait for the new version. and will you be nice to mention what files are needed in PE for this Format function , in case you know already...
  16. hi JFX , i have already included PG in my PE , but the problem is , i HAVE to call WInNTsetup before the PE loads , actually i make PE stop before loading WInpeshl.exe , and give choice menu by PECMD , F1 Install Win7 ( WinNTsetup ) F2 Continue booting Win7 PE There is no way to call PG before F1 . thats why i requested to have this native function at hand. thanks.
  17. sorry JFX , i have been busy lately , i forgot the source , but i will again look into it , and PM you later. i have a request to make , and i hope you will endorse me to it, wit the power of PECMD , i managed to stop my WIN7PE and very begining (after loading winpeshl) , and it gives 2 options, 1 , continue PE , 2 . Install win7 from WINNTSETUP. now , i realised ,that a user MUST will format the target partition first , and i hope it is easy , as we already have BOOTICE there in your tool . 1- just show the user , drive chart 2. format the selected partition as NTFS , and Make it active . and your tool will in the end , write boot sector to it as it already doing . hope you liked the idea. thank you. edit : plz check pm
  18. hello my dear friend , i hope you are all right and same with your family and loved ones, i have a small question / suggestion for your great tool (on account of NT5 installation ) i saw it on one of chinese pre-install XP GHO image , and i thought you might as well like the idea, 1- is there possibility of adding an option at NT5 tab , " install following tool during windows install " , 2- and that tool , will be run in GUI phase (not sure at which point it should run) , it will be basically a Chinese made custom driver pack with the gui (EasyDriver ) . 3- This tool if runs during windows install , it automatically decompress and install drivers from the 7z files . 4- now what we need to do is , when your tool will finish copied windows Files , it will then copy the target Easy driver exe with its 2 folders to the user's already selected partition (example C:) in $WIN_NT$.-LS 5- and the most important point should be , that the windows should wait for the driver installation to finish .
  19. ok JFX , my friend , thank you for the post and confirmation.
  20. hello my dear friend JFX , i have not yet tested your tool , for direct install on usb (for win7) , but in case it is interesting for you , coz i dont know what set of reg entries / fixes you are using currently for using win7 directly from usb , here are the two reg entries , in win7 , which considers as working OK for booting win7 from USB. NOT tested by me, reference thread is here. and reportedly , they are working OK. http://bbs.wuyou.com/viewthread.php?tid=201023&extra=page%3D1 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control] "BootDriverFlags"=dword:00000004 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\PnP] "PollBootPartitionTimeout"=dword:00003a98 you can use google translate . Regards, Maanu from Pakistan
  21. JFX it is VERY VERY nice to hear from you after a long time . it is good to see you again my friend . i would never have seen this if WIMB did not have mentioned your new tool on reboot.... i will test and let you know about this tool . thanks once again .
  22. by viewing your chart of working and non working systems , it is possible that my machine does not like it . it is pretty old one basically thats why . thanks for reply by the way ,
  23. by using the latest attached version , server 2003 ISO is giving BSOD 0X7B after " setup is starting windows " or something along these lines , where harddisk shows up and we do format etc . yes , i have used setuporg.exe from server2k3 . my system does not have SATA. the exact same version , worked OK with XP ISO . tried to use firadisk 0.0.18 and 0.0.24 besides the bundled version . SAME BSOD. any idea ? Regards, Maanu from Pakistan edit : can someone upload all 3 previous versions of XP_INST.IMA ? as far as i can remember , i used a version of XP_INST.IMA in the beginning of this thread , and server2003 ISO installed fine .
  24. not sure what is your problem , or what you are doing . BUT , in case you want to make your usb bootable , and have access to windows xp or 2k3 based machine , then try the following automated script from that system , http://www.boot-land.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=11463
  25. reply to post#70 can you please explain the grub4dos entries in code box plz ?
