    it is because the two programs disassembled and reassembled the file file in a different and incompatible with each other.

    Agree, if Vlite removes some things dang near impossible for a second program to come along and try to read certain elements from the image that was moved, rearranged, deleted and such.

    Stick to one thing, eventually RT7 may be more complete with feedback from all that want these things.

    In fact i reported some "improvements" to make possible more comprehensive RT7. But already some time since I heard Ben. I assume that he is working on the new beta. I wrote some notes in private but I was not yet responded.

    huh really? I have both vlite and rt7lite installed, and they are working together just fine.

    When 1.07 comes out, Vlite will be a thing of the past, in so far as Windows 7 is concerned. :) I think I breach no confidentiality when I say you're all in for a Hell of a treat.

    well, vlite is still better in term of speed, stability and easy to use interface. RT7Lite is still too slow, crashing easily and... bensam56, would you please re-code the loading and saving configure.inf file section? It gets too annoying... First if RT7Lite crash in processing the image, all of my configures will be lose, even if I checked that "saving current configures" option. And if you try to load external configure file from somewhere else, making some adjust and try go back to Home and save the new file... everything is loaded again from the file I selected thus make me to re-do all the adjust I've just made... and the tweaks section too, everything will be "default" if I re-open the image again, even though I had changed it before.

    Guess I will just leave vLite doing most of the job for the time being,

    what errors are you getting? please post some screenshots of them so we can help you. also remember, vlite was through beta stage and into final release. this is still a beta so reserve you criticism till it is done like vlite is done

    hi, thanx for the tool. i have problem or i'm missing something.

    when i choose at rt lite win7 for integration, customize and iso. i don't

    get an option for making iso image. i'm using windows 7 home premium and ultimate.

    i don't have waik installed, i have vlite installed along with files.

    it is recommended to not have vlite and rt7lite installed at the same time. uninstall both then reinstall rt7lite to see if that fixes the problem

    I agree. I too am a minimalist but not a memory issue but a matter of "frills" that besides being unnecessary for me, could make potential problems or occupy space on the disk. Consider that I do not use the swap file even when I play. I have 4gb and I've never seen the limit. It 'true that the UAC has had a bad reputation with Vista, but Seven is different. I do not think it's worth it to remove all those little apps that can boot without your knowledge. Rather Win remove Defender I saw him once when I was running without AV. I know people who have removed the UAC and have set the user "Administrator" by default. This is to avoid creating more users than necessary. Certainly you can do but use an account as Admin without UAC and everything is stupidly risky. Anyway just my thoughts and everyone must do as they please.However, even if we remove these components, something always remains. For example, icons that do not open anything because it was removed.

    my approach to this is that i always run from the built in administrator account and have UAC turned off. i am behind a hard ware firewall and run the windows built in firewall plus i run NOD32 for security. i set UAC to the off position via rt7lite. there is place in there to just turn it off, not sure if you guys know that or not. thewalrus, there is new version in testing so bensam should be releasing something soon.

    I get an unhandled exception on pressing the 'Commit' button after selecting the features for removal.

    It says,

    An invalid name request was made. The name requested cannot be retrieved at this time.

    By the way, this is my first post guys, hello to all!

    Did you installed wimmount driver from WAIK? Whats your host OS? Which version of rt 7 lite you are using?

    I'm using RT 7Lite 1.0.6 on Windows 7 RTM x86 so didn't install WAIK seperately. Do I need to manually add some more files to it?

    interesting bensam, i tried another image from scratch and some things were missing from the program under feature removal. what is the cause of that? i am uninstalling rt7lite to see if that fixes it. i uninstalled rt7lite and reinstalled it and it still was missing some stuff. i deleted the rt7lite folders from program group too plus i use an uninstaller that removes registry entries. real weird

    bensam, if this is new version of the 1.06 beta the wallpapers and screensaver are still not being set as default. plus i can not change themes with this version. i did apply the theme patch too

    themes should work...and all things are working

    not sure what happened then, i did virtual install and the wallpaper and screensaver were not set as default plus the theme would not change for some reason

    also, i chose location for last session file to be saved and it did not do that. you also did not extend the startup sound length far enough.

    What? Extend the startup sound length?

    yes, there is option to change the sound and it has 10 second limit on it, the sound i want to use is little longer

    Won't that slow down the boot-up process?

    by few seconds, no big deal for me plus i am getting a SSD so i have plenty of speed :thumbup
