  1. Does anyone know if making a vLite version of Vista WITHOUT slep streaming SP1 would be the cause of a missing hall.dll error at the end//restart of an installation? More specifically, a Dell OEM Vista. I didnt slipstream it because i thought it is a SP0 disk, i could have been wrong.
  2. Just to clarify: "After completion, create bootable DVD or image and get your Vista SP1 installed simultaneously. " That simply just refers to applying the change, right? It isn't literal? As in apply the change AND install it on your current host OS? thanks
  3. i am wondering if maybe this has something to do with having a dell oem? maybe i need to do something special to the vlite disk?
  4. after "installing" my vlite windows, i get a missing or corrupt hal.dll message at startup and i cannot continue. i replaced the hal.dl with the hal.dl on my repair disk. (the startup repair didnt do anything and i left it running for 12 hours... it never ended) i then got a missing or corrupt ntoskrnl.exe. i tried doing the same as i did with hal.dll with ntoskrnl.exe but it did not do anything. ideas?

    Black Screen

I tried actually installing it this time, not virtually. Same problem. I don't know what causes it at all. I have made a few CDs doing different things and they all had the same problem.

    Black Screen

I am back. Google wasn't my friend in this case, so here we go. Everything seemed to have gone fine. I used vlite to create my vista and then used OSCDIMG to create the iso. To test everything before installing, i am using Virtual Box. I had to mount the iso and have virtual box boot from that drive instead of booting from the iso because i got an error that way. The installation goes smoothly until i get to the "completing installation" process. After remaining on this process for a long time, maybe and hour, the screen then just turns black. I can move my cursor around and that is it. It stays like that and never leaves. It has been on the black screen for many many hours. I left it running while i slept over night since i remember the finalizing installation process can take some time usually. Anyway. Any ideas? When i force a restart, i get this upon booting up: WIn dows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem: 1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer. 2. Choose your language settings, and then click "Next." 3. Click "Repair your computer." If you have no disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance. File: \windows\system32\hal.dll Status: 0xc000035a Info: Windows failed to load because the HAL is missing, or corrupt. Is this due to my iso or maybe just virtual box? Thank you very much in advance. This forum has been a wonderful help thus far.
  7. ****, i have been stuck on FINALIZING INSTALLATION for the past 20 mins
  8. Thank you iamtheky. I was able to make the ISO using that method and it booted up fine on Virtual Box... ...but then i get an error: Windows Installation has encountered an unexpected error. Verify that the installation sources are accessible, and restart the installation. Error Code: 0xE00001000 I am googling that error code now to see what i can come up with before i decide to make a new thread. I wonder if it is because i am using virtual box though. EDIT: Mounting the ISO on my computer and opening it up that way, without virtual box, seems to have worked. it got me to the first step of the install process which is further than what i got before. Still would like some thoughts on this though before i burn it on a disk and waste a blank cd.
  9. I got CDBOOT: Couldn't find NTLDR I am using VirtualBox to test this by the way EDIT: Is it possible that this is due to it being a DELL Install CD. It is my CD i use to reinstall windows. It has windows on it, But it is Dell-inized or what have you
  10. I am trying to make an image of Vista ULTIMATE 32 bit. I get all the way to the end where it says "Finished" Then it gives me the FINISH and the EXIT button. I clcik finish and the program just closes. I cannot seem to progress to the next step of creating the actual ISO. Any ideas? EDIT: And is it possible to just make an ISO with a 3rd party iso creator, like ISO Recorder 3.1, instead?
